I'm trying

Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement to my last post. I know it was pretty much a downer amidst all the holiday festivities and I apologize for that. I would love nothing better than to get it all out in one big long post, however for the sake of other people's feelings I can't do that.

I've been thinking a lot about the serenity prayer that goes:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change
The courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference.

I've got the acceptance part down. I may possibly be wise enough to tell the difference between what can and can not be changed, but the courage part, I really suck at that.

Enough about all that. How about I leave you on a happier note tonight.

My daughter was VERY happy with one of her gifts. So at least I got something right.

Hey, I don't know if you know it or not but, "that's what friends are for" Annie and we are here are your friends.
Shed a tear, jump with joy - put it out there, we are here for you!

If I could package the will up (like your daughter's package) I would. Courage I got--and LOTS of it. I'll mentally send you some. :)

Here's to better stuff going on, pally.

Well, Whatever the problem is, we're all here for you sweetheart and I'm sending lots of love and prayer your way!! It'll work out, I promise!hughugs

She DOES look happy! If anyone complained about their gift, send me their address. I'll hunt 'em down, smack 'em, and steal your gift back.

As long as you don't mind me dragging my IV pole behind me. Bahahahaha

Oh come on - you have to admit that's a pretty good mental image!

I love ya sweetie pie - and I'm here for you. Mostly just because of aforementioned IV pole putting a crimp in my ability to get away - uh, I mean, style. Tons and tons of xx for you!

I've got lots of courage too. I'm sending a ton of it your way. I hope this resolves itself soon. Big hug. :)

Miawa, thanks, big hugs to ya my wonderful friend.

Lin, thanks for the courage

Donna, thanks so much, I know it will eventually

OneCreativeQueen lol kind of like I have you on a leash so there's nowhere to run huh? love you too sweetie

I'm not so hot at courage either. Hopefully everything works out for you! Your daughter certainly did love her present and her joy made me smile!

Ann said...

Sandee, thank goodness for coragous bloggy buddies :)

Beaded tail yes she did, it was the one thing she REALLY wanted I told her I wasn't getting it for her...lol

*Sigh*, I want to help and don't know what's up! Be easy on yourself ... more {{{hugs}}} needed? :(

Ann said...

Vickie, thanks bunches. I'm afraid that it's just something I have to work out for myself no quick fix. I appreciate the hugs though, can always use lots of those.

Hey, my thoughts and prayers are totally with you, Ann...and the Serenity Prayer? For me, it's a LIFE LINE...a mantra, a solace....as are your friends, right here, whenever needed...

So great that your daughter loved her present!!! Hope things get better!!

Mark Twain said “Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear”

Don't fear a lack of courage - by standing up to a problem you'll tap into all the strength you need.

That look on you daughter's face is the kind of thing I really love about Christmas. That's how you know it's all worth it.

There is not a doubt in my mind that you do a lot of things right. Furthermore, it shows a lot of courage and wisdom to not lash out when you feel wronged.

By the way, be wary of anything Lin sends you. She sent Chuck's Midnight some toys, and he wound up getting his alleycathood whacked off.

That's a terrific picture of your daughter! (whatever was in that box was a good one :o) Courage is a toughie, I lack it myself. I have to say, though, that if God can get me - the ultimate weenie - through both cancer and a rare muscle disease, He can get you through this!
In the meantime, I'm sending you a big squishy hug 'cause that's what friends are for, right??

What a great picture. Your daughter looks very happy. I wish you all the best with whatever challenges you face. To be brave or courageous does not mean to be without fear or insecurities. It means to do what you need to do even while feeling that fear or insecurity. ((BIG HUGS)))

We have the courage here. I'll send you some. We are in need of some understanding.

oh ann, i can certainly relate to you right now even though our problems may be totally different. i also try to live by the idea that if i am able to change any given situation than do and if i can't then stop worrying about it. we are only in control of ourselves and that is all we can change. much love to you my friend.

Gayle she was thrilled

Bonehead just stand up to it huh? great quote by the way

Ratty, you are so right

FishHawk not necessarily wronged, just hurt. I'll remember that about Lin...lol

Jen thanks for the big squishy hug and thanking God for bringing you through

DKMiller great explanation, thanks so much

Grampy I'm great at understanding I can send some of that your way

PJ Well I can say it but putting it into action sometimes I'm not so good at. Love to you also

Me-Me and you also

Anne it will eventually. Her gift was a set of overpriced mugs that she had to have from a place called Longaberger.

Ann, whatever the problem, it can only get better. This time of year more than any other there are more pressures on us and as a result, that funk is always very near. Your daughter's smile and happiness is what will keep you going and give you any courage you need. We are all here for you, just remember that. xoxo

I don't know what problems you are facing, but I well understand that for many different reasons, you may not be able to write about it on your blog.

You sound like you already have a great deal of wisdom by the fact that you try to live by the Sirenty Prayer.

I sincerely hope that the coming year will be happy or at least show you some workable solutions to whatever it is that is overshadowing your life right now.

My very best wishes and hugs,
Anna

Well, she sure looks happy! Having 3 boys who managed to grow up in some fashion makes me imagine many scenarios for your crises, but be tough where you need to, and otherwise, chill.

Ann said...

Poetic Shutterbug, too bad that smile is moving to Colorado next month
