Signs of spring and a funeral for a friend

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun but the hp hard drive couldn't take any more. (I always loved that song by Terry Jacks) Yes my dear blogging friends, the hard drive in my computer is dead. Wade has tried everything including getting a restore disc directly from HP and talked to a tech person and we finally had to pull the plug on my friend. For now, I am limited to my laptop. It's not that I don't like my laptop, it does provide me with a little flexibility but the desktop and I just seem to click better.
Well how about a little happy news. I located the cable for my new camera and I was able to get the pictures from that so I do have new material. My other camera is still holding pictures hostage until I get a card reader though.
On April fools day I got a pleasant surprise. No joke, I found signs of spring.

I found the first signs of my Lupines returning. Of course the flower beds around my house are in horrible condition. I've been so neglectful. I love seeing these come back every year. My dad gave me the seeds for these years ago and every time they come up I think of him. They get a beautiful flower on them that dries out and the pods open up and drop their seeds for the next year. My dad had a ton of these around his house and had gave me several of the pods before they had opened. They grow in a very scattered pattern in my front flower bed because between kids and dogs things like that have a way of happening.

There are a few blades of green grass showing in a few places around the house, but it will be a while before we see anything much. Can't wait though!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Sorry to hear about your hard drive. The same thing happened to me a short while back.

But seeing signs of spring is a good thing. Spring is popping up all over the place now. I went out today just to look at the new green that's growing on everything.

Bummer, sorry 'bout your hard drive! Hope you can get a new one installed soon and be back "on the road" so to speak. I love lupines. I knew what they were the second I saw those leaves. I had some huge lupines at our old house and brought a bunch of seeds with me here to the ranch but I never got them planted - mostly decomposed granite around here. I'll have to see if I can find some seeds and I was thinking of starting some straw bale planters and filling them with composted llama manure and planting all sorts of seeds this year. I really miss my flowers.

I've had a couple of hard drives go in my day and it just plain stinks. You don't realize what you have on that thing until it is gone. I have an external hard drive now to back things up and that helps a TON! I just have to remember to back up all the time.

I've got horror stories of losing my HD and now, I'm on a nightly backup schedule with Mozy...I couldn't take the stress anymore!! Thank you for reminding me of lupins!! I must find some seeds and try again 'cuz mine died.

I hope you had everything, or most everything backed up!

That is an extraordinary photo - such detail. Lupines - a name I know but not what they look like - off to Google them..

Sorry about your hard drive. I hope you didn't lose any photos or anything.

How exciting your lupines are coming up and how wonderful they invoke lovely memories of your dad!

Well now, there's not seeing the forest for the trees OR - as is the case at my house - Not seeing the flowers for the weeds (just wanted you to know that you are not alone - Ha :o)

Sorry about the hard drive. You have a lot of work ahead of you installing all your programs in a new one.If it is an old computer you might want to think a whole new system. The newer one's come with windows7 and have built in card readers. Don't have to worry about your camera cable.
The flowers are lovely and the memories even lovelier. Have a wonderful Weekend.

Christine. it's wonderful to finally see spring making an appearance. The lupines are pretty.

donna yes it sure is, and i see him in so many things too

alesa old, new, exploring is just good all the way around.

bossy betty it sure is. I just hope the laptop doesn't decide to up and leave me too...lol

audrey, we seem to have gotten greener over night. I'm loving it. hope it doesn't take too long to happen there

ratty it wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the fact that it's not an old computer, guess they just don't make them like they used to.

split rock ranch I hope so too. that would make for a rough time in getting flowers. I don't have the best soil in my yard so I have trouble getting some things to grow but the lupines do well.

lin I was very glad that when I got that computer I bought the external drive to keep all my pictures and other assorted goodies on.

will oaks I guess most people don't really think about the backing up until it's too late. You don't expect to just up and lose everything without warning. I was in the dollar store the other day and saw lupine seeds.

grace I sure did. I don't think I lost anything that was important. They are a beautiful flower. I have some older pictures of them somewhere I should have thought to dig one up to go along with this post.

beaded tail nope all the photos I had are safe and sound. It is exciting to see the flowers coming back

Jen thanks for joining my club...lol I so wish I was better at taking care of things but it just never seems to fit into my day.

grampy I really didn't have that many extra programs installed on my computer. I vowed when I bought it to keep it simple. I mainly used it for my photos and editing. My computer did have the card reader but my laptop doesn't.

Sorry to hear about the hard drive. =( Seeing that lupine start would cheer me up, though. I love any kind of flower that re-seeds itself. It's always like a present, come springtime.

Thanks for the visit and comment at my blog. Hope you have a great weekend!

I am sorry to hear about your computer Ann. :-( The photo you posted is lovely. The colors are great, the composition is good. Very nice. And it's always nice to see green things coming out of the ground. ;-)

Wow, that is a spectacularly-clear picture! Oh, and I am sorry about your computer being officially dead now. Go send Duke to fetch you a new one!

Sorry about your computer! I prefer my desktop too. The lupines are gorgeous! Hope you have a great weekend!

Awwww, R.I.P Mr. Computer. I hope you find a suitable replacement real soon.

Have a great weekend, Ann! :-)

Lindy gotta love a flower that keeps coming back. I know a few people who spend a fortune every year on annuals and i just refuse to do it.

dkmiller thanks, i sure miss it and thanks for the compliments on my photo

fishhawk why thank you very much. I tried to get Duke to get me a new computer but all he wanted to do was play with his toys. some friend he is

cinnamon girl yeah, I just find the desktop easier to use sometimes than the laptop. For some reason it even seems harder to type on the laptop.

me-me working on replacing the hard drive it's in but it's not recognizing the discs from HP. Have to wait some more and I'm not going to shell out the money for a whole new computer. oh well.
