Opening Day

Last weekend Duke had his official opening day for pool season. I was out on the deck doing something and had my back to him. Next thing I knew, I hear a splash and there he is in the pool. He's worse than a kid sometimes when it comes to the water.
So the pool isn't quite finished but it is good enough for Duke. Wade got out the rafts and Duke's little boat and got them inflated.
Here they are pulling the boat in to the dock.
All Aboard
Full steam ahead.
I wonder if that cute little poochie across the street wants to go for a ride in my boat.
Ahh life is good.

Duke is just the cutest little raft captain ever! Love the first photo where he's looking up going "hurry up with that boat matey"!

Ahoy, Captain Duke! You look very nautical in your boat. Do I see a 3-hour tour and an island in the future :)
Full speed ahead to summer!

Oh, gees, Duke is adorable in his little boat! Can't you get him a little captain's hat so he looks like Thurston Howell III??!

These pictures are just great! I love when dogs jump in the water when nobody expects it. My dog was afraid to get a bath, but she would jump in any natural body of water without warning.

Woof! Woof! First I am so jealous that you actually have a pool. Secondly, you are so cute ... I wish I could join you. Happy Weekend. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

Well, I am fairly sure my wife hasn't had the time to check out your blog here, but we now have a pool. So, since I am not about to take the blame for anything (like telling her about how cute it would be to see Duke swimming around in your pool), I am going to blame her going out and getting a large inflatable pool on you, anyway. You will come down and clean it when it starts getting nasty--right?

LDH if you think it looks like he's having fun here wait till you see the post I have scheduled later in the week :)

Beaded tail he does love his rafts. Having him out there in the summer can be worse than watching a little kid sometimes but it is cute

Tahtimbo Duke would love a 3 hour tour however I usually get bored with the game long before he does

Lin I'll have to look into that, He would look cute with a captains hat. I hope he won't be wanting his very own Lovey after that...lol

Ratty I had a chocolate lab that HATED water. wouldn't go near it and bath time, forget it. She trembled all the way through it

Sugar Duke would love to throw a pool party for all his friends.

Bossy Betty Oh go ahead, tell :) I do the same thing, I'll pull them up just to brighten my day

Marie yes, coolness is one of Duke's best qualities. I loved that picture too

Grace I do think that he is unaware of his canine status. He is entertaining that's for sure

Russ no lessons required, he's a natural. Never even had to use floaties on him...lol

FishHawk I always get blamed for everything. I think you should send your wife over here so she can see how cute your own dog would be floating around that pool on his very own raft :) As for cleaning yours, HA, I don't even clean my own. I have a pool boy for that (a.k.a. Wade)

That is too cute!! I don't care for water, but there are always a few days a year that I long for a pool to cool off in. Would need a blow up raft too :)

how adorable...and at least if Duke does jump in he will come out smelling sweet...I remember taking my dog for a walk and we were in a copse with some standing ponds...She suddenly took it upon herself to jumps in...can you imagine the stench of the stagnant water??? pooey!!!

I have a life preserver for my tiny dog that has a handle on the back when she jumps out of the kayak so I can retrieve her.Have a hard time coaxing her into the pool, but can't keep her out of the lake or river.

Ann - That is just too funny! Duke made me laugh :) I wish we could get Herr Lukas in the pool, but Mike insists he will ruin the liner. Killjoy.

Sheri, yes he does. he can't wait to get in it

Audrey I'm not a swimmer but I do enjoy floating around and cooling off on a hot day

allotments4you thank goodness Duke has the pool instead of the standing ponds. eewwww

out on the prairie I wonder why it is that your dog prefers lakes and rivers, good idea with the handle

alterity button jewelry the dog I had before never went he the pool. He would have ripped the liner for sure but Duke will jump in, swim around then swim right over to the ladder and climb out himself. When he first started going in Wade used to follow him as he swam that way if he had trouble he could help him out but now, he goes on his own

DKMiller you should see him out there sometimes. He'll stand on the deck waiting for a raft to float by and if one gets close enough he pulls it in and then jumps on

Gayle with a name like Skipper he should have his own boat too

junezach he always has a wonderful time in the pool. Sometimes like a kid though, it's hard to get him to come out

Daisy it always makes me laugh watching him.

Donna maybe I should get him a hook and eye patch for when he goes out. On second thought the hook probably wouldn't be a good idea with an inflatable boat.

Dukes a water dog for sure. How adorable.

Wow Duke is really cute in his boat. When I see things like this, I can wish that I had a dog like Duke instead of three cats who hate water. Next cat I get will be a Turkish Van! They are supposed to like water!

Hugs
Anna

Sandee yes he is. can't keep him out of it.

poetic shutterbug Duke is all about fun :)

Anna I've never heard of a Turkish Van I'll have to research those. A cat that liked water would be cool

Cinnamon girl He would enjoy someone's undivided attention
