How to have a little fun on the 4th

When you don't have any plans for the holiday weekend you need a little backyard entertainment. Here's how to do it

First cross the state line to purchase a fun little assortment pack.

Next secure bottle rocket in large stones in backyard and light with a cigarette. I'm told that a cigarette works much better than a lighter. Who knew.

Then run like crazy before it goes off.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing 4th of July. Luckily I get one more day out of the deal since I also have tomorrow off. Yeah me!

I just don't know what to say. I really don't.

Our dog hates fireworks. I'm guessing Duke isn't a fan either.

Have a terrific time with your fireworks, and happy Independence Day. My best to Duke. :)

Angel and Sadie hate fireworks so we're hoping no one around us have any this year. I do love seeing the city's fireworks show from our upstairs windows!

That photo of Duke running off is so cute!

Hope you have a safe and happy 4th and enjoy tomorrow off too!

Those things are so much fun! Too bad their illegal here. Have you ever tried lighting them using a punk?
Have a great 4th!

I have always been a fan of the bottle rockets. No ground fireworks.
That picture of Duke is amazing. Have a nice long weekend.

*LAUGH* that was a good one - wasn't expecting to see Duke hot footing it for cover :o) Can't say I'm a fan of the Fourth. While I do appreciate our independence/freedom, I always spend half the night in the pasture; the horses are able to stay mostly calm if I'm out there with them. They hate fireworks, and since they can't quite fit under the bed...

Run, Duke, run! We are very happy that the loud noises are over.

Great Duke shot. I house sitted for a friend and found out the date he always went away was the 4th because his dog went beserkos.Gave him meds but he still had a rough time.Mine sat in my lap all night.Didn't get any explosives, but like those rockets.

Hurry Duke. What a great picture. And great ideas too. We were very lucky last night, that the neighbors only shot off a few firecrackers but they were loud and scary. Luckily everyone checked in this morning.
Have a great week.

FishHawk, NO WAY! Well I guess there is a first time for everything, right?

Sandee actually he didn't mind them, what he didn't like was when I tried to keep him in the house while Wade was setting these off

Beaded tail I love watching fireworks, but I can understand how Angel and Sadie may not share my enthusiasm

Cinnamon Girl thanks I always enjoy a long weekend

Tahtimbo they aren't all legal here either. I'm not sure what a punk is so I guess the answer is no. I don't light them any way, that's Wade's thing :)

vanilla seven I liked that one too, wasn't even trying for it but it worked out well

Grace I laughed when I saw it on the camera. Lucky accident

Gayle isn't it though.

JuneZach it made me laugh too.

Roschelle That's what I thought too. I'm not sure if his feet were actually touching the ground or not

Russ Wade's a fan of bottle rockets too. Discovered that my neighbors isn't though. At least not at 7:30 a.m. Shortly after he was setting these off the town cop was cruising by the house very slowly

Jen oh I can imagine that must be a real pain trying to keep the horses calm during a fireworks display. Now I'm picturing a horse trying to crawl under the bed and hide

Daisy I had to actually call him away he was right there in the action while Wade was setting them off.

Sheri aw sorry you have to work today. It's always nice having a Monday off but that just makes Tuesday all that much harder

Out on the prairie aw poor dog. I don't think I've ever had a dog that was bothered by them. Duke certainly had a good time.

Marg glad everyone made it through the celebration. Enjoy your week as well

glad you enjoyed the 4th of july...living in the uk we don't celebrate but I remember being around for the events when I was 11...the fireworks were spectacular even back then!!

LOL! I'm sorry I just had to laugh. Seeing Duke high tail it out of there is adorable.

Run, Duke, RUN!! I hope he didn't get too scared with the fireworks.

DK Miller I sure did and Duke had a blast as well

Leeuna just promise you will not reveal his real identity. You know how super heroes are about that.

allotments4you I've always loved a good fireworks display.

Poetic shutterbug I had to laugh too when I saw that. When I was taking it I didn't realize it was going to look like he was flying

Lin Not scared at all. He just got upset when I tried to keep him in the house. He always wants to be right there in the middle of the action.

I can't believe Duke doesn't object to the fireworks. Our dog gets very scared. The retreating Duke shot is adorable.

Ann said...

Anne, nope he didn't seem to mind them a bit. I know a lot of dogs do hate them though.
