The great explorer

Duke loves to explore. Every chance he gets he roams the back yard in search of something.
I don't think there is one inch of the back yard that he has not checked out. If he finds even the slightest little hole he's got his nose down in it trying to discover what's inside.
I swear I did NOT photoshop his face off. This is how you frequently find him in the back yard. Now our yard doesn't have a lot of holes in it but there are a few and he knows where each one is. He inspects them thoroughly every day for signs of change in their condition.
It isn't just underground expeditions that satisfy his curiosity.

If it's in my back yard, Duke will find it. Sooner or later, he will sniff it out.

Go, Duke, Go and bring whatever you find, dead or alive, back to your mom. She'll love it!

I think he smells those little chipmunks. We have one of those here and Bubba goes nuts searching and searching for them. They do have fun in their yards.

I left a comment on yesterday's post - about the white flower - I said I thought it was a white violet - it's not there. I am having major internet problems these past few days!

Anyway - dogs can be very single minded!

Duke is doing his job as a good dog by sticking his face into that hole. He's making sure there are not too many intruders in the yard.

It was upon such an adventurous spirit that this country was founded, and it is good to know that it still lives in even the hearts of fluffy little white puppies. Surely Duke should serve as an inspiration to us all!

Duke, you are just a little busy-bee!

I hope a mole or something doesn't come up and bite his little nose! Too cute.

Duke and Louis have so much in common!! I love that you can capture all of this on film. When Louis' head disappeared into the random holes in the yard I never have a camera on hand. All I am able to capture is his dirty face when he comes up for a air :)

LOL...what a cutie he is..it's the terrier in him I guess! It's so amazing the joy they can bring into our lives! ;D

out on the prairie, he hasn't missed it, just hasn't gotten there yet :)

Sandee yes he does and he enjoy every second of it

Bossy Betty believe me, he has. I didn't love it...lol

Sheri there's been a rabbit living under our shed I think could be that's what he's smelling too

anny no snakes that I've seen but I suppose there could be some around

grace sorry about the internet problems, those always irritate me.

Wild Rose thanks for stopping by, I'll be over to visit in a bit :)

Beaded tail yes he's entertaining alright

Ratty, nothing gets by Duke, he does a great job

Nessa, nope not drinking, he can't reach that high

allotments4you I'm sure if he could he would

Jean you're dog gone right :)

roschelle duke thanks you,

duni I figured since I'm the ripe old age of 25? you couldn't be a day over 21 :)

Fishhawk I have to agree with you on that one.

Jen ah yes, he'll be famous one day I tell ya

Russ he's a great protector, I just wish at 2 a.m. he wasn't so conscientious about his job. The slightest thing moves outside and he's a barking fool

Catherine I loved that picture too

Daisy oh he is and if he gets the chance to run, get out of his way....lol

Reeni well if it does I'm sure I'll hear about it :)

DSS I miss a lot of shots, so I make a point of taking the camera out and just sitting down to take pictures of him playing and exploring. The more I read about Louis the more I realize how much alike they are.

Julie they do bring a lot of joy and the best part is they don't talk back...lol

Good boy Duke for doing all that snooopervising. It looks like you are doing a great job of keeping everything straight there. That is kind of high place for you to get a drink. Bet the birds don't like you messing with their water. Great picture of you with your buried nose.
Have a great evening.

Miawa said...

oh Duke my boy! We must be related, that's all I can say.....

Ann said...

Marie I think everyone needs a little Duke in their life :)

Marg He is very thorough. Just today he was out there snoopervising a cricket. It was hysterical

Miawa well gee, maybe a family reunion is in order...lol
