Falling into it

It was with some reluctance to begin with but I'm finally accepting the fact that summer is over. Maybe it's the colder weather, the slowly changing foliage or all of the Halloween cards I've been making, but I'm finally getting into the fall mood. I even pulled out  a candle jar topper the other day as a beginning to the season's decorating. I have no intentions of going overboard like I used to years ago with all the seasonal trimmings but it is nice to have a few things sitting out.
Now if I only had a jar candle to sit him on. He is cute though and he makes me smile.

Your scarecrow is adorable! Did you buy him or make him? Inquiring minds want to know.
I love Fall. Hope we here in GA have more than a few days of Fall weather.

If I was there you would be decorating like you used to..........

Ohhh I am so happy that Fall is here! You know I am trying to get together stuff for decorating ... so if you need something to do with all your cute stuff let me know! :)

He is cute! I like the fall theme, but I never seem to get around to doing much with it. It was fun for kids' birthdays, but seems like too much bother for two grumpy adults.

He's a cutie pie indeed. Not as cute as Duke, but what is?

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)

I love fall decorations. I just bought some really expensive grapevine pumpkins that have lights entwined. Won't even admit to what I paid for them. Uh, let's just say that they won't be out in in-climate weather.

Oh Ann ... what a lovely scarecrow ... is he all your own work? It is the sort of thing that you see and immediately want. Yes - 'I want one!'

In England there is a village where they have a scarecrow competition and almost every household makes one. They are so popular that whenever you drive through they appear to be on permanent display. I am told that somewhere in Australia they also have something similar with a farm theme - in other words the scarecrows are doing things related to farming.

He's a good one. I like him. This helps me transition to fall a little bit too. I'm still stuck fully in summer mode. I'm seeing changes when I get to look out the window, but it's not quite the same as being able to be out there every day.

He's a cute little guy! I love fall and he's a perfect decoration for the season.

The crows will flocked over him instead! Too cute! :D

With it officially being 113 degrees in Los Angeles a couple of days ago, with some suburbs reaching 116, maybe southern California didn't get the memo that summer is over? Of course, after seeing a blog post complaining about snow, it would seem that some parts have jumped straight into winter!

Ann, that is the cutest scarecrow ever. Not scary at all ;-)
I'm not into the fall season at all. As for decorating? Guess it'll be a mini-pumpkin arrangement or something.

He is cute. I don't think he could scare away any crows. Especially with that smile.

The changimg leaves catch my eye. Saw one tree yesterday that would have made a good pic but I was off to the doggie groomer.I got a huge pumpkin over the weekend for my front porch,I was the 1st on my block.

Nice scarecrow! It only seems like five minutes since you were preparing your pool for summer ...

Love that scarecrow! Maybe I'll dig some reminders of fall out today and start decorating!

He is so cute! My mom used to decorate for all of the holiday (even st. patty's day!) I am wanting to do a few things this year. The kids seem to understand more and appreciate the little decorations.

He is so cute and yea it helps with the mood change doesn't it. I don't decorate any more with my kids all grown and most of my grandkids grown now too, hm! Maybe I should just jump in myself (if there is any chance of it enhancing my mood)

He makes me smile too. It's always nice to have something in celebration of the season.

I had the same reaction. Made me grin like crazy. Well done. I want to know if you made that or bought it. See we have confidence in what you do. That is a terrific decoration.

I posted a comment last night and it's not here! Damn, I hate blogger - I was asking what a candle jar was and why it needed a topper - cute as that one is...

He is lovely...As we don't do much for halloween I have to wait for Guy fawkes night!!

Ann said...

Jean, I didn't make him and I can't be certain but I believe someone gave him to me.

Amanda I'm sure I would be :)

tanyia well why don't you and Marc just bring a truck up north and I'll fill it for ya :)

sharkbytes I'm the same way, it's more of a hassle any more than fun.

Sandee not much :)

Roschelle very observant. I did use the same background

Lin no need to admit what you paid, I always say it was on the clearance rack and that makes it a-ok :)

kloggers no, I can't take credit for him. I know what you mean about seeing things and instantly you know. A scarecrow competition sounds like fun

anny he sure is

ratty it's a tough transition for me so I try and take it slow :)

marie fall has it's own rewards but I do love my summer

vanilla seven yes they sure will

fishhawk well I'm glad that we are not part of the parts that jumped straight to winter, I'm not ready for it.

duni the scarecrow may be about the only thing I pull out this year :)

russ i think you're right

out on the prairie you are right into the spirit of the season aren't you?

philippa I know tell me about it

bossy betty I thought of digging some of mine out but didn't want to go to the bother

nico I used to be like that I always went way overboard. I pass it on to my daughter now and I'll take a break...lol

miawa it just doesn't have the same excitement that it used to.

poetic shutterbug a little something is nice, no need for all the tons of things that I used to have

julie they sure are. gotta love a scarecrow

marg I'm glad you guys think I'm that good...lol No i didn't make it, I think it was a gift

grace I guess I should have said Jar candle or candle in a jar. why it needs a topper I don't know, can't put it on when the candle is burning and I never think to when I blow the candle out. It usually just sits next to the candle on the table.

allotments4you, oops hit submit before I responded to your comment...lol I've heard of Guy fawkes night but am not familiar with what it is.
