Living on Pink Street

Ah Monday, back to the daily grind. Maybe I can finally get caught up after my busy weekend. We had such beautiful weather here and I was loaded with energy. Saturday I spent the day cleaning and doing a few other odds and ends. Sunday I went to a craft show called Christmas in the woods. By the time I got home last night I was exhausted and although I would have been happy to post a picture of Duke, I didn't even have one ready to go.
Let me tell you why I am now living on Pink Street.
Saturday I went to check my mail box (the snail mail kind) and found a little plastic bag with two flower bulbs in it. They were stapled to a card. I turned the card over and It reads "Turn Pearl Street Pink for Mikki"
Here's a picture of the card
I wasn't able to get through reading this with dry eyes. That has got to be the sweetest request and I was more than happy to honor it. The bulbs have been planted and now I just cross my fingers that they grow in the spring despite my two brown thumbs.

Did my whole yard in pink bulbs from the Susan Komen orginization 2 years ago for a friend. She has 2-3 weeks now, but when I planted they said 6 months that turned two last spring.Since then I have done 3 flower beds in peoples yard for the strength it can offer.

How beautiful. This is a husband that dearly loves his wife. Excellent.

I would love to see all these blooms in the spring. I think we all would.

Have a terrific day. My very best to Duke. :)

That is amazing! What a wonderful husband to think of doing this for his wife. And you all must be really great neighbors.
But really - who could say no?

What a lovely thought and deed. It must be very tempting to find other flowers that are also pink to add to the tulips.

What a beautiful, thoughtful and special thing for everyone to do for Mikki. Her husband is so sweet and he even offered to plant them for people. Makes me all leaky!

Oh wow, I knew about the breast cancer a few years back but had no idea it had spread. She's a tough lady though...from what I hear from the ppl that take her Karate classes. Thats very sweet of her husband to do that for her.

Take the picture when they bloomed please :)

This is so nice Ann...you don't see community spirit or ingenuity like this anymore....Tell your neighbours that they are being thought of world wide....something like this could be a great fund-raising event as well as supporting a fellow neighbour!!

What a great idea! Mikki is facing every survivor's greatest fear: recurrence. Attitude is everything in this fight, and I think her husband's idea for support is nothing short of brilliant.

That is sweet and touching! Incidentally, it's Breast Cancer Awareness month!

What a touching story. My family has dealt with a lot of cancer. My brother and sister both died from it. I will plant the Pink Tulips for her over here. Hopefully it will help.
God bless her and you also.
