Winter is upon us

It looks like winter is finally upon us. We got snow that actually stuck to the ground. It didn't last long but it was enough to remind me that there are some long cold winter days and nights ahead.
This is what I woke up to last Saturday morning. I know some of you have already gotten worse than this but this was bad enough for me, and I know worse is yet to come.
This is the road in front of my house.

The birds play ground

Squirrely didn't seam to mind the snow so much

What a cute little squirrel! Our snow is all gone but we have more than our share of rain. I can't wait until I see the sun again!

I don't think I could live in snow country. I'm just too much a fair weather kind of gal.

Have a terrific day and stay warm. My best to Duke. :)

Those are nice snow pictures. I need to get some from around here. We are currently under a winter storm warning with between 2-4 inches here in the valley. Well, I guess I'll be doing some shoveling tomorrow.
Have a great evening :)

Oh Ann - Winter is also with you in November .... what a long, long Winter it looks like it will be. We shall all have to knit woolly hats and scarfs!!!! I don't know about you but I have my fingers firmly crossed in the hope that it will warm up high enough to melt it all and to once more feel a little warmer. At times, I have had up to three woollens on today!

Crud--we were getting flurries tonight too, although I don't think it will accumulate. Whew!

If you put Duke there... if will be quite hard to find him unless he barks :) wonderful pictures of the snow Ann! We are only having rain and more rain to end with lotta mud in the house.. *LOL*

If only all of this rain we are getting would turn to snow! Happy Winter :)

What a nice variety of pictures depicting the first snowfall! Looks like you live on a well travelled road, and you also feed the birds in style! We are birdwatchers, and I love squirrels!

Here in GA we are having tornado warnings. I would rather have snow.:(

I had never heard of such a thing as "lake effect" until I started meandering about in your neck of the woods. Be assured that I got all too familiar with it before it was all over.

We've got more snow here in England, too. I don't like it either.

The squirrels seem to like the snow. That is a great picture. We are going to get about two inches of rain over here. Glad it is not snow.

Shouldn't sweet little squirrely be curled up sleeping in some hollow tree somewhere???

no snow here in south floria but we did get rain at 4 am and now it has dropped from 70 to 60 and going lower. a real bbbrrrr for us down here. 44 in the am but I don't think that is cold enough for snow.

I am very familiar with lake effect snow. it's one reason I don't ride with Walter anymore in the winter!

The pictures are pretty and I love the squirrel!!:-)

Ann, you are more than welcome to send a little snow our way. The last time it snowed in Long Beach, California was 1949 :-)

Donna are you sure? I'll gladly send you some :)

Julie I am not a fan of winter, I hate being cold and it's very cold out

Reeni it does have a bit of a magical feel to it but the magic fades fast for me...lol

cats of wildcat woods you can have ours :) I was happy to comment

Grace same here

tahtimbo yuck, shoveling, I hate that

kloggers I guess I better learn to knit and I agree that winter is much too long

Lin lucky you, I can take the flurries as long as they don't stick

Anny he needs his sweater so he doesn't get lost in it...lol

DSS I think I would rather have the rain, you don't have to shovel that

Ginny yes my street is pretty busy although it's not the main road. I love watching the birds and my husband is great at keeping them fed

Zach We are glad to have you as a friend also.

marie Mr Squirrelly has a blast out there and he's always trying to gobble up as much as he can before the birds get any

Jean I don't like the snow but I wouldn't want the tornadoes either, Stay safe

fishhawk lake effect stinks :)

philippa winter just seems like it last forever and summer always slips by far too fast.

russ we were getting rain but now it's all changed over to the white stuff

catherine I know I would be if I were him, he seems to be too busy gathering seeds and chowing down

sandra my sister used to live in florida and would talk about freezing when it was 50. I told her I would gladly trade her but she never wanted to take me up on the offer

Duni you try and stay warm too, hopefully we'll all thaw out early next year :)

shinade I don't blame you for not wanting to go out with Walter. It can be very treacherous

the old geezer I would gladly send you some, how much would you like?...lol

Marg it didn't last long that time but it's back again and we're supposedly in for quite a bit

allotments4you I'm glad we didn't get as much as you did. I saw your pictures WOW

livintheblues yep, it's that time of year again
