Bird Watching

There hasn't been a huge variety of birds at my feeder lately so I take what I can get when it comes to the pictures.
The ones that do come around sure do like the peanut suet cake that I've been putting out. I was entertained watching this one bird try to get at the last little bit. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is a starling.

And again, if I'm wrong with the identification here please let me know but I believe that the one in the back is a morning dove.

I see those birds at my suet all day, and they have big appetites.

I'll be happy when the birds of spring and summer return. Oh the joy of the first sighting of the Robin for the season ~ but I haven't seen him yet!!

Yes, starling and mourning dove! But wait a minute, you have a stained glass birdhouse? How cool!!! A church for the birds!

Yes Ann... You have a Starling and a Mourning Dove.... Great pictures. That Starling doesn't quite know how to get to that last bite, does he????? ha ha

Have a great weekend.

Oh yes, those are very familiar visitors to our house...they are eating us out of house and home! When they're not eating, they're roosting on our roof or berm (the doves). Our cats just LOVE watching them :)

Birds are so fun to watch! It seems so odd to see brown grass. Ours never goes brown. :)

Yup, a starling. I love the doves but not so much the starlings (or grackles). Sometimes they come in huge flocks and I have to leave the feeders empty for a bit until they move on.

It looks like the dove and the black bird get along pretty good together :-)

Wow - what great photos - you can see every detail - why I can almost hear them chirp and coo!

I wish I knew more about bird names like my dad did! Love the great pictures!

Hey there!

I don't know much about birds. They all look the same for me. Winged creatures. Haha, I wonder if that bird ever got the food?

I wish I could put out stuff for birds but with all these cats, it is almost impossible. I love to watch the birds. I think that is a starling and a Dove. I can't believe I knew what they are. Take care and have a great week end.

You got them right. I love the Doves. They almost sound and look like pigeons. The starlings on the hand are a nuisance. They chase the little birds away and they eat until nothing is in site.
Have a good weekend.

You nailed the IDs. I really like the angle of the pics of the Starling on the suet feeder. Hope to see more photos of your birds!

OK Blogger sucks, I just finished responding to each of you and got an error saying they couldn't process my request. I'm not typing it all in again but thanks everyone. I appreciate all your comments.

Nice bird pics. The doves are always pretty. I'm not such a fan of the starlings.

sharkbytes I've noticed not many people are. I prefer others but I'll snap what I can get :)

I'm terrible at knowing what birds are. I know sparrows, hummingbirds and scrub jays and that's about it for the birds around here.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)
