Another bargain?

If you are like me, you'll consider today's post another bargain. If, on the other hand you are like Wade, you'll see it as a waste of money. Either way, here it is.
We have a new store in town. It's a consignment/thrift shop. I hadn't been in there yet, so last Friday I stopped in on my lunch. A quick look through the store and I spotted something that looked quite interesting to me.
I asked the owner if she could hold it for me and I would be back later.
After work the conversation with Wade went something like this:
Me: we have to stop at the thrift store
Wade: why?
Me: they're holding a sewing machine cabinet for me
Wade: you have a sewing machine cabinet, and yours you can drop it down inside, why would you want a different one.
Me: I didn't say I was putting my sewing machine in it
Wade: whatever
Ok so this is a really bad, quick slap it on kind of paint job that someone did on this but I liked it. It caught my eye and it was only $12.00
It's now sitting in my son's old room which is in the process of becoming my second craft room.

Um, yes, those walls are red. Yes, those walls will be painted. I hate those walls.
This is just some stuff I threw on top of the sewing machine because I thought it looked pretty cute. I was attempting to be decorative which is something I'm not very good at.

It is a bargain and now you have that bargain. Good for you. You can use that for lots of different things. It's what you love to do so go for it.

I hate those walls too.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)

hehe Fun conversation! Did you consult Duke on this decision? I think your decorating skills are quite nice. The items look sweet on the new sewing table. And guess what? I like the red walls. Maybe it is just the photos but it looks really nice from my perspective.

Oh, lucky you... your kids leave comments. Mine barely look at my blog :)

What are you going to do with it and what will you use it for? I really want to see it after you fix it up!

I agree with you. It's a bargain and I think it's perfect for your craft room.

I have to say, I kind of agree with your daughter. A Second craft room?? But why not. I love the sewing machine cabinet. I bet it is lovely if you took that paint off of it. It might be worth tons. I agree, the walls are horrible. No wonder you never get any down time, you have way too much to do. Take care Ann and enjoy all of it.

I think it's a bargain. And I like the red wall. I once painted my bedroom walls red also.

Looks like you have a few projects ahead of you, most involving paint. Can't wait to see your new craft room as it unfolds.

A slight touch up makes a differences.
It matched nicely with the checkered fabric :)

I think we have an old sewing machine just exactly like that, and since Arlynda and her mother considers it to be priceless, you really did get a bargain.

As I would always say Ann, you are simply creative. Thank God for giving you the talent to inspire others! :)

P.S. Hope you could find time to visit my new blog. Take care! Send my regards to Duke! ;D

Great buy with the sewing cabinet. It is not my cup of tea. I am with Wade on this one. My wife however would love it. If we had room. She actually had one exactly like that one with the original sewing machine in it. Her daughter now has it. Her TV sits on it.

Go for it!!! It is your house and they went and grew up on you so why not a second craft room???!! I can see what you mean, there is something about that just begs to be part of your home decor - lol!
Have a great weekend!
Hugs, antonella :-)

Ann - you are great at decorating - I think that cabinet is awesome and truly I might have passed it yo. You have the foresight to think ahead into the possibility of what it can become!

I see it as a bargain ... what do men know? lol I'll give you $20 for it, yes? no? Ahhhhh I tried. Enjoy it!!

ok now, i am ROFL, i really am, and i must say i have to agree with whomever wrote the first comment and said Mom you are friggin nutty. I LOVE THAT COMMENT and i just want to say that is why I LOVE YOU and your blog, the very reason. it is indeed a bargain but i am with Wade on this one, but then i don't even have ONE craft room. i do have a computer room and a really ugly desk and the lap top sits on a really ugly bedside table by the really ugly dog crate next to the really ugly bed. i love thrift/consignment shops

It does look better in your house than the first few photos (maybe it's the red walls). I would be more on the side of Wade on this one (unless you can somehow make it a special place for Duke). I can't believe you have 2 craft rooms.

Love this piece...and what a great price! Your display DOES look cute especially against the red walls. Yep, I like the red walls and I definitely think two craft rooms is a wonderful idea!

I am all with you in support for that second craft room! I need another one, too!
