Hydrangea Season

I just love this time of year when the Hydrangea are in bloom. I know I've told the story more than once but I'm going to tell it again. Don't worry, it's a very short story.
Shortly after I moved in to my house, my father gave me a hydrangea bush. He brought it over and even planted it for me right under my living room window.

Maybe the fact that this came from my dad is why I love it so much. But even so, it's gorgeous if you ask me.

Even though I'm not much of a gardener, this bush thrives. It returns every year to grace me with it's beauty.

To me, a blooming hydrangea is the next best thing to having my dad return from heaven to spend a little bit of summer hanging out with me.
I walk out the front door and they just make me smile.

In other news, I'm going to skip responding to comments on yesterdays post. Instead I'll update you all here. Duke would like to thank everyone for their well wishes. He is happy to report that he is feeling 99% better today.

That is a wonderful story and I'm glad you told it! Those are the most beautiful flowers. I love how they are so bright and colorful.

Poor, poor Duke! I'm so glad he's feeling better. A lot of dogs are not taking to the heat very well. Maybe he is one of them.

Wonder post if you ask me and I think your father is visiting you every single summer. Just my two cents.

I'm thrilled that Duke is feeling like Duke. Tomorrow he'll get that 1% back I'm sure.

Have a terrific evening. My best to my little buddy Duke. :)

Hydrangeas are beautiful but none as lovely as yours because yours was from your dad and a most wonderful reminder of him :)

I have a hydrangea just like this right under our living room window. It was my moms and my story is extremely sad. We seem to be kindred spirits. So glad to hear about Duke.

Beautiful pictures Ann! What a litmus paper of a flower the hydrangea is! I have one bush .. it is not in flower yet though. They say that tea makes it pink and lime makes it blue and there you are with perfection - both pink and blue on the same bush!!!! Wonderful!

Maybe your dad had a plan you didn't know at the time - to always be there for you.

I love the purple Hydrangea.

I think I just deleted my own comment (duhhhhhh). Let's try this one more time...

I'm so glad your little man is feeling better. The Hydrangea is gorgeous! I absolutely love them, but they won't grow in my yard (not enough acid in the soil). That's okay though, I'll just share yours ;o)

Nope, I can't find anything to smart-off about (again). Pretty flowers, and a great tribute to your dad! Oh yeah, I am really glad to hear about Duke's recovery.

so pleased Duke's Ick is gone. my mother had 4 of these big bushes, they covered the whole back of the house and yours are beautiful. yours remind you of your dad, and remind me of my mother. she used to pick them and put them on the dining room table. daddy used to plant nails and iron filings under them to make them a deeper purple.

Hydrangea blooms are so lovely--from their pale white beginnings, straight through to their blue or pink mop heads and ending up as dried poufs. I love them too.

Sweet story, I never heard that one before. :)

Glad my little pally is better today. Let's kick that 1%!

I have always wanted to plant one of those here (I really think they are pretty), but I've never done it. Do you think they would do well in Idaho?
I'm glad Duke is feeling better :)
