Christmas in the woods

The trip on Saturday was to Columbiana Ohio to go to Shaker Woods, Christmas in the woods craft show. We've been there a few times and it's always enjoyable. The place is huge and of course it's all set up in the woods.

Although it was a bit cold to start out, it was a beautiful day and this place was packed. This is a shot of the parking lot before we left. We were parked maybe 8-10 rows back and just look at all the cars that came in after us.

These next two are near one of the gates and just before you got to the ticket booth

While we were walking around we decided to take a picture of the area. We weren't aiming at any particular booth. A woman who happened to be selling there took it upon herself to come up to us and inform us that we really shouldn't be taking any pictures unless we asked permission first. She told us that she wouldn't like it if someone took pictures of her items.

These were the pictures I was taking at the time and I told her I was just taking shots of the area. Does it look like I'm pointing the camera at anyone's merchandise?

I wish I would have been a little quicker I could have said to her "Don't worry, I didn't like your stuff well enough to take a picture of it". I bet that would have shut her up real quick.

Love the set up near the ticket booth...that sign is awesome. I love the set-up in the woods...perfect setting!

Looks like your other photos were taken from a distance...I don't a problem with that. But some people are very protective of their creations. Sounds like she's one of those people. : )

I like the setting of this craft show!
The last time I took pictures of a show (not a booth) I got some nasty looks. I felt so guilty!!

Some crafters act as though it's rocket science to create what they do. Really? They need to get over themselves.

Ah yes, the "Wicked Witch of the West," you know it is just about Halloween, Ann, and they're all out now. You can Google crafts and find out just what you need and how to make it if it is simple enough. If she was that worried about us stealing her ideas, then she must not make a unique item that can't be copied easily. I especially loved the photo and then painting overflow over the matting, that was unique and I couldn't do it and the guy with the pinecone wreaths, I'd never make those myself, the wire would tear up my hands. Maybe she was a rag ball maker!!! :) I had a great time too!!

Oh boy, I would think I had died and gone to heaven with a day spent here. Wow. Hope they take visa!!

As for your posts from the past - I'll try and catch up. The Autumn morning scenes are superb....love the field and cattle along with the color and foliage. Glad to have met with Marie [I still think your friends on Monday is a great idea] And, hope you had fun with Debbie and the craft show.

You know, I was thinking of your comment as I was reading your post. What a knucklehead she is.

Criminy.

Anything public is fair game. If you don't want people to see your things, then don't go and sell. It's not like you are in the inside of a store or anything.

Wow, they must had advertise really well about the show. Now that is the kind of craft show that I'd like to go and sell. I was at the scrap book convention and they weren't allowed people to take photo of their booth either. And that was just the perfect excuse for me not to spend my money on their produces.

So, even Santa has been out-sourcing production lines?

That is a fabulous place for a craft show! Oh I so want to go! With cameras everywhere these days, that lady must have had a busy day warning everyone to not take photos. Crazy.

I would have loved to go here. Christmas is my favorite time of year. Not the weather, just the holiday.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)

Looks like a fun show.I went to one last weekend and the announcer came over the speaker and said they were looking for someone shooting phone pics in grey sweats at everything and wanted to find him and have him leave.Never heard this before.

Cool idea about the name/location of this craft show ... I also like what you came up with 'after the fact' about that ladies stuff was so funny.

... or you could have said ... I didn't realize this was like Area 51 and top secret ... or hey ... you must be the grinch who stole Christmas ... or I'm telling Santa on you because he doesn't need anyone else added to his list - hahaha ... the list could go on and on and on.

Some people just jump to conclusions right away that you must be up to know good with a camera. It would be nicer just to have a sign up that says no photo's allowed of booths. I am glad you had fun anyway...how could you not in that cool of a place. :)

Anonymous said...

Funny, I don't see a sign that says no photography. ;)

I love the setting for this! It really is right in the middle of the woods. So neat! There's always got to be one mean apple in the bunch.

I am reading backwards - I got to see how you empty your wallet and what all the wonderful things were that you bought. Lovely fair.

Sounds like you had a great day and it was very well attended...bit early for christmas though!

I know several gals who have been previous vendors at that show! It's supposed to be a wonderful show. I can understand why they don't want photos taken. There is a lot of theft of ideas and techniques in the craft industry, so photography is usually discouraged.
