Where there's smoke, there's fire

Yesterday on my way to work I spotted flashing lights ahead and then even before I could see the smoke I could smell it. Of course where there's smoke...

...there's fire and lots of fire trucks.

All of these pictures were taken during the fair parade. I didn't stop at the scene of a fire to take pictures. I didn't think the firemen would approve and I was on my way to work after all.
A house that has been empty for quite some time was on fire and thankfully they were letting traffic through. I hate it when you get detoured on your way to work in the morning. When I drove by later in the day almost half of the house is totally burnt down. It obviously started in the garage and worked it's way over. The odd thing was that just the day before I had seen a couple of people there and I thought maybe someone had bought it. Now I wonder what they were really doing there.

When we lived in Lake Zurich, IL we had small community parades like that - I do miss those - here they are so big - you have to fight crowds, etc.

I don't know what is in the first photo but it is intriguing and I love that old fire truck...

We have had an awful lot of building fires in our area lately--one apartment complex has caught fire twice in a little over month! Arson is suspected in many of them, but only one of the fires has been officially confirmed as being intentionally set for the purposes of insurance fraud. Ironically, it wasn't in the case of the apartment complex that has caught fire twice.

The fire investigator is needing to know that too. I'm just saying. Usually empty houses have some help burning down. Then there is the insurance that will be wanted next.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)

You may be a witness to a crime! Or they could have been workers trying to fix it up and sparked a fire by accident. I do like your firetruck photos though!

Love that last truck. House fires can go really fast, maybe they burnt it as a drill.

That sure was a lot of fire trucks. I'm glad it was an empty house that got burnt and not someone's home. I too wonder about the people you saw though...I'm not one to believe in coincidences really

Out on the Prairie might be onto something... the department here does drills at abandoned houses. Hopefully that's what it was.

Hello Ann! Thanks for visiting today!
Nice old fire truck but what a shame about the fire destroying a home.
Have a great weekend

Was it an intentional burn? Maybe they had some scavengers there to take out anything worthwhile and usable and then used the burning house for training for the fire department. They do that here sometimes.

Gotta love the old Seagrave truck! I wonder if they burned it for practice.
