A copy cat

Sometimes when I'm out shopping I see something that I like but know that I could make it myself and would prefer to try before I buy. Recently while in Joann Fabric I spotted something that I decided to attempt to copy.

Come on mom, lets get this machine set up and running

The machine, doing it's thing.

This is a picture of the one I saw in Joann. I had Amanda snap a picture with her cell phone so I would have something to refer to while I was making mine. The embroidered "Be Mine" was what made me want to give it a try.

And this is my version. It's not actually done yet because I didn't have any wire to make the hanger for it. Next trip to the store I need to put wire on the list.

Now if I were to do this again I wouldn't use the light colored thread for the Be Mine. I would go with a dark one like on the original. I would also pay more attention to the size I'm setting the font at before hitting the start button on my machine. I didn't intend for the Be to be so much smaller than the Mine. Other than that I was pretty happy with it. Amanda asked me where I got the you and me piece I put on the top. I got it right out of my craft room. I took a piece of fabric and stamped it myself. I thought it made a nice touch.

This is an amazing machine. I can now see why you bought it. I want one. Are they expensive?

I like your version, but I think I have to agree to go with a darker thread next time.

Great project Ann.

I like yours just fine. It's always hard to find a color thread to use on a plaid or pattern.
