One bad apple

One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch. As a matter of fact even that one bad apple is useful sometimes. I purchased some apples and maybe it was just me, but I didn't think they tasted all that great. I didn't want to throw them away so I sliced them up and threw them in the dehydrator.

I'm not a real fan of apple chips but dried apple slices can be quite useful in crafting. I haven't decided what to do with them yet though

You have a dehydrator! I've always wanted one of those, because I really like apple chips :)

Great idea for the apples. I know you will do something really cute with them.

I have been a little surprised with apples so far too. The past few months they have been terrible. It is apple season now so I am hoping they are better.

Never tried a dried apple, but...several on a string of thick twine might dangle over a hook somewhere...like my house!...:)JP

How long does it take to dehydrate them once you place them inside?

so you will not eat them but play with them, a sign of a true 'crafter'.... can't wait to see what they turn into

Great idea, Ann. I can see a garland perhaps with some kind of woodsy items also. I asked for a dehydrator for Christmas this year. Bernie so loved your jerky! I'll be sending you an email later on about Sat.

Dried apples are great for making little fried apple pies! I bet they would taste better with sugar & spices, LOL.

Do those dehydrators really work? I love dried fruit!

Try giving one to Duke - Julep loves apples but Derby doesn't ... so you have a 50/50 change with Duke.

Hubby used to do this all the time because he liked the dried fruit. He hasn't done this in a very long time.

Can't wait to see what you do with this.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)

I know you will think of something, and it will be really cool! How long will they last, once dehydrated?

It's easy to get bad apples.. I'm very picky about my 'eating' apples --and only eat Honey Crisp Apples these days... Glad you found another use for your apples.

Betsy

Very wise of you to squirrel them away for your next great crafting idea! And I know it will come to you!

I certainly wouldn't have thought of apples in crafts so now I can't wait to see what you make!

What are you going to make with those dried apples.

I used to dry apple slices and use them (along with cinnamon sticks and berries) to decorate straw and grapevine wreaths.
Maybe you should give some to Amanda for your Christmas wreath!! :)

I love apple chips especially the sour ones. I assumed you are going to turn your apple slices into some kind of craft.

with a nut glued in the center you'll have flowers for a wreath

Hi Ann...what dehydrator do you have and how long did it take for you to dry your apples?? I was only wondering as I was looking in to buying one and so I'm interested in the efficiency of different models!1

Hmmm... I've seen people make them into ornaments, maybe you can try that? Hugs, antonella :-)
