Makes no sense

It makes no sense that someone like myself who hates being cold, hates winter and hates snow would have something in their house that says...

and yet there it is. Sitting plain as day on my kitchen window sill.  What can I say, I'm a sucker for a snowman. Especially when they aren't made out of real snow.

A little of this and a little of that

I did something I absolutely hate to do yesterday. I cleaned the bathroom. When I was done I decided to add a little bit of a Christmasy touch to the room.

Here's a look at it through the mirror at night. I have a quilted hanging that I need to dig out of the Christmas boxes to replace the one that's hanging there now. Check it out I even hung Christmas towels.

A close up of the stuff on the shelf. Before I played with the picture and after I played with the picture. Maybe it's my eyes but as I'm typing this post this picture looks really blurry. It didn't look that way when I pulled it up in photoshop elements.

Now that Thanksgiving is over I'm moving on to a Christmas theme for my index cards. This one I pretty much cheated. I saved a comic I found on line and printed it out. Then I glued it on to a piece of red paper and glued that to the index card. It doesn't have to be original art, it just has to make me laugh and this one does.

Ace in the hole

from dictionary.com

Well today the opportunity has presented itself to show you this Ace in the hole. This is my daughter's cat Ace. He was very accommodating when I asked if I could take his picture. My daughter said that he is very used to having his picture taken.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing

Yes, I stuffed myself yesterday but I couldn't help it, everything was just so good. It was the first time in 33 years that I didn't have to cook a Thanksgiving dinner. We went to my daughter's house and ate there

She has a nice country view no matter what window you look out and I couldn't help taking a picture

And then I couldn't help playing with said picture

So it's back to work today.

The one advantage to working in a grocery store is that it's the one retail environment that isn't busy on black Friday. At least I'll be able to get caught up on some work....I hope

How are you feeling?

I'm headed off to work today and I'm

(The mug says Feeling Groovy but I couldn't get it all in the picture)

Ok so I'm not exactly feelin' groovy but maybe Snoopy can talk me in to it

At least I'm not a turkey

I need more days like that

It  snowed just a little bit more yesterday morning but I didn't mind at all because I was hold up in my craft room oblivious to what was going on.

I sure could use more days like yesterday.

Here's what I was working on:

Top left is 2 cards. They're the same design but slightly different.
Top right is another wreath made using items found at Dollar Tree
Bottom Left is a little project I'm doing for work. There is only one other person who knows what I'm doing and hopefully no one else will know that it's me.
Bottom middle was some more index cards. I covered them up with the ornament so you couldn't see them until the day I show them.
Bottom right is a few more of my post it note clipboards. It's getting close to the end of the month so I'll be posting soon on how many I managed to make.

Now my index card for the day:

I think I already wobble a bit but I'm still going to gobble some of that turkey on Thursday

Who ordered that stuff?

Woke up yesterday morning to snow. I had heard that we were supposed to get 6-8 inches so I was pleased when it stopped way before it go that far.

I'm not ready for this stuff yet.

I think today should be a hibernate and play in my craft room kind of day

Fair warning

You might want to duck

Because you are about to get goosed and mooned all in the same picture

And while I'm on a roll PLEASE help to....

Being thankful

I think this card should actually say that the thing I am most thankful for is that it's Friday. Of course that's once the work day is over. This really has been one busy stressful week. You wouldn't think it would be so crazy the week before Thanksgiving.

Clarification

Just to clarify yesterdays whiney post a bit, it's not really the job I hate. As far as jobs go, it's not so bad. The boss leaves me alone, I never have anyone watching over my shoulder. The environment that I spend the majority of my time in while I'm there is what's causing my grief.
Could I look for another job? Sure I could but lets face facts. I'm 53 years old, I won't get the same pay somewhere else and I would have to give up 3 weeks vacation. I've been there 18 years and I highly doubt another job is in my future unless I either get fired or the store closes.

It's just time to put my big girl panties on and get over it. From time to time it gets to me and I need to let it out.

What's that noise?

Did you hear that? That is the sound of the life being sucked out of me by my 40 hour a week job. The knowledge that I can not afford to be unemployed is the only thing that is making me return every day and to stick with it for 8 agonizing hours ever day.

If I don't comment on your blog today, it's not that I haven't read or enjoyed your post, it's more likely that my brain is incapable of saying anything nice. I'll try and have a better attitude tomorrow but don't hold your breath.

Well aren't I just a little ray of sunshine. How about something more positive.

Tis the season

I'm thinking maybe I should go 20 to be on the safe side

Or better yet just throw the darn scale in the trash

Monday Monday

Hello blogging peeps. How are you all on this beautiful Monday?

This is my very own personal room. I've been giving mom a hard time about having to go in there when they leave for work in the morning. I won't go on my own. I lay down and protest but she carries me and puts me in. When they are home and I'm feeling a little sleepy I do like to go in there and take my naps. There is a nice comfortable bed in there. It's actually a new bed since the old one sort of had the stuffing ripped out of it. I don't know how that happened.

Any way, not much going on here today so I'm going to sign off. I hope you all have a wooftastic day

Crafting with Gibbs

Sorry about no post yesterday but Gibbs and I were in the craft room

Gibbs wanted to show you the materials we were working with. All items were purchases at Dollar Tree. There was actually another garland but I forgot to stick it in the picture. Gibbs says good help is hard to find.

I wrapped the gold garland around the foam wreath and then wrapped it again with another garland. I could have just used the second one but it was only a 9 foot garland and it didn't cover the whole thing well enough. The second garland was gold and white. This picture is way off for color but I was using a lamp for light and it was pretty dark in the room. You get the idea of what it looks like though

I also worked on a few more of the mini clip boards and a few new index cards. This is the card for today

Hijacked

Hello blogging peeps. I've hijacked mom's blog today with the help of my friend. He's a most handsome fellow, don't you think? Of course he's not as handsome as I am but then how could he be.

Here we are in a planning meeting. We discussed how we were going to overtake the blog for our own wooftastic purposes. In case any of you were wondering, I'm doing fine right now. I'm currently taking cheese balls to clear up any problems that might still exist in my ears and I haven't been scratching or crying at all. I think mom sticks something in my cheese ball but I don't care, they still taste good.

As for the hijacking, there were some negotiations and I agreed to show you the index card of the day. That's as far as I go though.

I bet I know what you are thankful for today. You are thankful that you got to see me! Have a tail wagging day and a howlin' good weekend

Make a decision already

In October I had decided what I was going to do for my November craft project. All I needed to make them was one item, the rest of the materials I already had. The stores I was in didn't have what I needed and I wasn't able to get to the stores that probably would have it.

Plan B. I found another project but with similar results in the materials department.

Then Monday, because I had the day off and haven't been playing in my craft room much, I decided to try something I saw on Pinterest.  The project came from The Southern Stamper. These were post it note clip boards. She used chip board coasters for hers but mine were made from a coke 12 pack that I cut up into 4" x 4" squares. I already had plenty of scrapbook paper and the binder clips. The only thing I had to buy were the post it notes (pack of 5 for $1 at Dollar Tree)

Excuse the picture. With it getting dark so early I have to rely on lamps for light. I tied a piece of jute twine around the post it notes to keep them held down and from getting all bent up before purchase. You'll notice that the binder clip has matching paper glued to it. The back of these is just plain brown paper glued on. Because I was able to make 8 of these just on Monday I decided that this will be my November project.  With 2 more weeks to go I should be able to make quite a few more.

Now my card for the day.

Crushed

How much common sense does it take to know that you don't stack several full boxes on top of something that is only half full?

While I try not to talk about work on the blog I just couldn't help taking this picture and using it for a post. I mean seriously? This is the kind of stuff I find after I've had a day off. Imagine what I get when I take several in a row off.

On to the card of the day. I'm not especially fond of this one but it is what it is and it is Thanksgiving themed so it works.

struggle and strength

I know we've all been there at one time or another.

Back to work this morning. I'm gonna need that strength. It sure was nice yesterday. Spent almost the whole day in my craft room. Wish I had today off so I could clean up the mess I made.

change of plans

Saturday I planned on going to Erie, which is one of two bigger cities near me. I wanted to go to Hobby Lobby for a specific item that Wal-mart doesn't carry.

Gibbs changed my mind. Friday night he was starting up with his ears again. He was rubbing his head on the floor, shaking his head and crying.

Saturday morning first thing I called the vet. They said bring him in at 10:10.

We sat and waited.

11:15 we finally get called in to an exam room. We sat and waited some more.

Oh and by the way, Saturday morning his ears appear to be fine. Also when the vet looks at them she says they appear to be fine but lets take a little swab and test to see if anything is going on. And then we waited.

Apparently his ears didn't have a problem so I have no idea what he was doing Friday night. We did discover he had some fleas on him though. OH NOS. AND apparently his baby canines never fell out but his adult ones grew in. The baby ones are pushing on the adult one and at this point they are not going to fall out on their own they'll need to be extracted. OH NOS

Now I know you would prefer pictures of a cute Gibbs face but OH NOS he was not going to look at the camera.

Sunday, November 8, 2015

Hi ho hi ho...

it's off to work I go.  That means I'll be hanging a new index card and this is it.

The word Thanksgiving is slightly raised so when I scanned it it made parts of it rather blurry. I guess my scanner only likes things that are perfectly flat.

Kind of at a loss

I had to dig for something to post today. I haven't been very crafty lately and it's probably been close to a week since I've taken a single picture.

I did find a picture of fall scene that I played around with a bit to dress it up.

Here's the original

And after a little photoshop magic

Attitude of gratiitude

Just another index card. For this one I tried something a little different. I had a pack of fall napkins with that cute little scarecrow so I glued the napkin on to the index card for the background. Then I just printed out the words and glued them on to finish it off.

Thank you for stopping by today, I am most grateful for your company and your comments are greatly appreciated.

Lets talk turkey

What does a turkey like to eat for Thanksgiving?

Nothing, they are already stuffed.

My index card for the day

What happened to the turkey who's feathers were all pointing the wrong way?

He was tickled to death.

October craft report and my new diet

I wasn't very productive in the crafting department for the month of October. My project was the painted wine glasses to look like pumpkins.

I added a leaf topper to sit underneath a votive candle. I only managed to do 4 of them and I didn't do any other crafting at all.

We talked about stuffing in yesterday's post and I mentioned that I've gained too much weight. I'm terrible at dieting but I think I may have found one that could work for me.

This is index card number 65.

I'm going to try and pass

Tis the season to gobble till you wobble and I'm hoping that I can control myself. I've gained enough weight this year already.

I may have created it, and I may be posting it but I'm going to try and NOT do what it says

Speaking of stuffing (or maybe you call it dressing) do you like it plain or do you prefer to have extras thrown in?

Fading fast

We had several rainy windy days here and the fall colors are fading fast. Today I just have a picture I took a week or so ago and an edit of that picture

November

November comes
      And November goes,
      With the last red berries
      And the first white snows.
With night coming early,
      And dawn coming late,
      And ice in the bucket
      And frost by the gate.
The fires burn
      And the kettles sing,
      And earth sinks to rest
      Until next spring.
~Elizabeth Coatsworth (1893–1986)

Now that we've moved into November that means it's time to move on to a new theme for the index cards. While I'll still be doing snarky from time to time I think that you'll be seeing quite a few with quotes and sayings relating to Thanksgiving.

Even though I have to work today I guess I am thankful and grateful that I got to sleep in an extra hour
