When the wind blows

Monday we had some freezing rain and by Monday night the wind was blowing like crazy. It kept me up most of the night howling.
Tuesday morning, concerned that the car may be covered in ice I went to go check to see if I needed to scrape before I left for work. I opened my front door and found my storm door hanging by the bottom hinge. Apparently the wind caught it during the night and tore it partially off. As I drove down the road to go to work it looked like a war zone. Garbage was everywhere. Tuesday is garbage day so all the garbage cans had been put out Monday night and it was all over the road. At the end of my street there was a tree down in someone's yard.
I don't have any pictures to document any of it because I was too tired to stop and take any. All I could think about all day long was getting home and going to sleep.
When I got home, I laid down and guess what? I couldn't go to sleep. Isn't that the way it always goes.

Almost time

I can't remember the last time I even attempted to make a New Years resolution. At my age, it's a pretty safe bet that there will be no "new" me in the new year.

Nothing to do

With Christmas falling on a Friday and Saturday being my day off, that gave me two days in a row with nothing to do. No, seriously, I had nothing to do. I know it was Christmas and it should have been a bustle of activity, but that's not how things roll around here.

So, like I was saying I had nothing to do but nap, watch tv and play on the computer. I doodled a girl on a notepad and scanned it.
The notepad had the banner on it, I just drew the girl.

Then for the fun of it I did some digital coloring

Hey I never claimed to be an artist. I'm just good at wasting time and playing.

Happy Christmas Eve

I always liked this song so I thought I would share it with you

And of course there's my index card.

For the record I have no idea what kind of wine that is. It was just the best picture I could find to snag and print.

Ho Ho Ho

In an attempt to make things a little more fun at work I bought little stockings for everyone in the deli/bakery departments.
I hung them around the door with a sign saying to secretly share some holiday cheer with your co-workers.
Because of certain situations in our area I expected my stocking to remain empty most of the time. I surprised by the results of this. The people who I thought would do it the most for certain ones rarely did it at all. I started getting things in my stocking from someone who wasn't even in the department so I added a stocking for her so she could also get little treats. Then it was 4 of us who were putting things in every day (almost) Next it went down to three of us who had our stocking stuffed full on a daily basis. I can't say if everyone liked the idea or not because several of them never said a word about it but I know I had fun and will hang them again next year.

Today's index card

I have to thank Sandra for the saying on this one.

The Holiday Train

I saw a video on Facebook of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train. When I went back to find the video again to share it here I couldn't find it but I found another one.

Want to take a train ride with me?

and here is my index card from yesterday.

maybe he's depressed because he has a dirty face and someone didn't want to print out another elf to cover that up.

Dumped

We got dumped on. It started snowing last night and kept on going.

It might not look like much in this picture but it's more than enough for me. I don't know exactly how much we got but when I walked to the shed to get the snow shovels it was up over the top of my boots. I skipped my normal Wal-Mart shopping trip and did my impression of a vegetable

It occurred to me too late that I didn't post my index card of the day on Friday so I'll give you that one today and since I don't have the picture ready yet for the one that will go up today, you'll see that one tomorrow

Pick a prop and pose

I found some Christmas themed photo props at Dollar Tree and bought them to use at our yearly Christmas party at work.

Our party is at work while we're working. We set up in the back hallway. There's a table for food and a table for gifts.

I set out the photo props with a sign that said pick a prop and pose. Whenever someone came through to fill a plate for lunch I went out in the hall with my cell phone and told them they had to pick a prop and pose or I would take their food away. I got very little argument. There were only a few that I had to convince and even that didn't take much effort.

Holiday Giggles

This is just too funny.

Two for one

I gave you a break from my index cards yesterday so today you get two.

This one is the one I hung on Wednesday

The hat actually hangs over the edge of the card on this one. That's why I'm getting the extra black lines that you see there. I borrowed the cat image from the internet and then I borrowed a clip art santa hat to glue on the cat.

This is the one that goes up today. Gibbs helped with this one. I had the poem printed and cut then I dropped it on the floor. I rescued it from his mouth before he did too much damage. He didn't attempt to bite me this time. I think he was afraid he would get put in jail again.

Here we come a wassailing

Does anyone go caroling any more?

Wassail
1:  an early English toast to someone's health
2:  a hot drink that is made with wine, beer, or cider, spices, sugar, and usually baked apples and is traditionally served in a large bowl especially at Christmastime
3:  riotous drinking
Going from house to house singing Christmas carols the singers would partake of a wee bit of wassail. Sounds like a good tradition to keep up with if you ask me.

Are you kidding me?

I've been working on making some ornaments. To make them I need to print out vintage Christmas images. I think my printer has been hanging out at Lin's house with her fridge and her microwave though.

I printed a sheet of images and they didn't looks so good so I changed the color cartridge since I knew it was low. Then it instructs you to print an alignment page which I did. Then you scan the alignment page which I tried to do. It failed. The alignment page didn't print real well and the scan kept failing. I tried to clean the print head, no difference. Next I cleaned the paper feed, no difference. I could get an image to print but there were very visible lines through them. I gave up.

At work on Sunday I asked the two I was working with if they had any suggestions. One of them told me to try and wipe off my black cartridge with alcohol. I did it and it worked. YEAH.

The ornaments you can't see have a Santa image that sort of had lines through the picture but not too terribly bad. I'll just give those to the people I don't like as much.

Aside from making ornament I also made another batch of index cards. Here's the one for today

The spirit of the season

The baubles that cling to the tree
Like raindrops in sunlight hang free
The glitter and shine
Like sparkling old wine;
It's a sight that you surely must see

Since this is the season of giving I'm dedicating today's index card to Gibbs.

More humbug

I have to say that if it wasn't for the BAAAA, this could easily be mistaken for a dog

What a pain in the butt

I'm frustrated and annoyed with all things google at the moment. I have been using google chrome on my desktop for quite some time. The desktop is where I do my blog posts because that's where I keep all my pictures stored.
Yesterday Chrome decided that it is just not going to work. I kept watching that little circle go round and round and then kept seeing some stupid box. I go to internet explorer and try to find out how to fix it. Problem is in order to fix it I need to get to a page on chrome which is not allowing me to access any pages at all.
Bye Bye Chrome, Firefox you're back in.

Random Christmas themed picture to break things up.
So I get firefox downloaded and go to sign in to my google account and it kept telling me there was a problem, cookies needed to be enabled. It tells me how to enable them but only gives instructions for how to do it with chrome. Quite possibly someone or some thing detected my annoyance and miraculously I finally got signed in.

Now I need something funny so here's my card

I guess this is more bah humbugish than funny but it will do.

The talented librarian

Small little towns have small little libraries. I pass three of them on a regular basis. There is one down the street from me and one in each of two small towns that are very close. All are within a 15 minute drive. Of the three, two decorate their windows for the season or occasion. Whoever the people are that do the decorating do an excellent job and I always enjoy seeing their windows.

The library that is the furthest away just has a small little window but they always have something cute there. I took this picture in the dark so it's not the greatest but you can still tell what it is.

Today's card. I used an old Christmas card cut to fit the index card.

Back at it

Today it's back to work, back to blogging and back to wishing it was my day off. I spent the entire day in my pajamas yesterday. I haven't done that in ages. I would like to say that it did a world of good but it really didn't.

sorry about the bad cell phone picture but it's only here to lead in to the next part of my post.

So Saturday Amanda came over to decorate my house. Is it too early to put it all away? I suppose so. Well while she was decorating the tree she yells to me to come help. Gibbs had the top of one of the ornaments in his mouth and he wouldn't let go. No problemo. I'll show him who's boss. I grabbed the ornament, gave him a gentle little tap on the snout and he immediately let go and bit my finger. He is on the top of Santa's naughty list and he certainly didn't earn any points with me.

Luckily while I was lazing in my pajamas I did get some more index cards made. Here's today's card

Just a card

Sorry about no post yesterday. There almost wasn't one today either because I'm just not in the mood for blogging. Tomorrow is debatable.

Does anyone remember glass wax?

I was searching for something funny or interesting and stumbled upon a video. What a blast from the past. I so remember doing this when I was a kid

Did you ever do that?

The card for the day is....

Not much

I tried (for maybe all of 30 seconds) to come up with something for a blog post. It only took me that 30 seconds to determine that I had nothing.

Of course since it's a work day I do have an index card to show you.

The background on this one is just a piece of scrapbook paper cut to fit the index card. The vintage lady I found online and printed then cut. I also heat embossed her. It makes an image printed on plain paper look way more awesome. It gives it kind of a raised, shiny plastic like look. I only have one more card completed so it looks like I need to find some mojo and get some more done

November craft report

Well November certainly flew by in a flash. You may recall the post where I told you I was going to make the post it note clip boards for my November craft.
I did pretty good for the month I think. I managed to make 23 of them

Pardon the bag picture but it's been a bit on the gloomy side around here. I probably could have gotten more of these done but I've had quite a few days where I just didn't feel like doing much of nothing.

Today's index card

I used an ink pad to color the background then I splattered white paint to make it look like snow. The tree was cut with my cricut machine and then I added some glittery white dimensional paint for the snow and a gold glitter for the star. The fox came from a pack of stickers. The pack was so cute that I hated to use them and then not have them any more so I scanned them then printed out the fox and cut him out before gluing him on to the page. The bottom of the card (the snow part) is two pieces of paper that I covered in a folk art alcrylic paint called extreme glitter then I edged it with a little blue. Lastly the words were printed, cut and glued to the card.

Jingle Bells and a fail

I'll get the fail out of the way first so as not to prolong my humiliation. Although I suppose by posting about it I've ensured that my humiliation will last forever (or as long as there is a Ann's Snap Edit Scrap)
Any way, after watching a video I saw on Facebook I just had to give this a try.
This is the You Tube video I saw

I gave it a try yesterday and I can honestly say it's not as easy as she made it look. Here's my attempt

Now on to the jingle bells or a line from the song.

What? You mean that's not what it really says?  Oh well, Have yourself a merry little Tuesday any way.
