Real live books

On a whim I splurged and bought myself a couple of real live honest to goodness books. Since I've been doing a lot of the plaques I thought both of these could help me learn a new trick or two

They just came in the mail Wednesday so I haven't done anything more than browse through real quick. My brain hasn't been functioning enough to comprehend more than looking at the pictures.

I suppose I could have found stuff like this online because there are tons of tutorials out there but here's my problem, they're mostly videos. What's wrong with a video you ask? A couple things. First I have a hard time hearing most of them. Second I found that the majority of them annoy me because the person doing them tends to babble on forever before getting to the point. I guess I just don't have a whole lot of patience

The handlettering book would interest me too!
There are some really awful sewing videos out there. I'd rather prefer clear instructions ;-)

I like hard copy best, with videos I might get distracted and miss that important point.

good job on the books and i agree completely on the video tutorials. most of them go on and on and on and drive me nuts. i found a few that do the bullet points and that is what i like. and i would think making a craft would be really hard...on video i mean. books should be a lot easier... when trying to learn how to fix something in the computer. i open the video in one tab, and what i am doing in a another. and pause and watch pause and watch and work in ps or what i am doing.

I love real books, then you can take your time looking over the information. I hate those videos on the internet too. That will be fun to have those books.

I know just what you mean!! Then, there are tutorials from 'the other side' of the globe and they tend to talk funny. By that I mean, what some things are here...they're not called/named the same over there...y'know?

I learn best by reading, I hate people 'talking' at me, I just zone out, it was a real problem in college where all the classes are lectures LOL Enjoy your books and we can look forward to new creations.

Reading is the way for me too. Video's can be helpful, but only to a certain point. I'd rather have a book.

Have a fabulous day. Big hug to you and my very best to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

These books look wonderful . . . we know where your nose will be this weekend. Happy weekend, my little bookworm friend.

The books will be a great resource for you to peruse at your leisure instead of having to follow what someone else thinks you want to hear about. Can't wait to see what all you learn!

I agree! Books do better. And also, with videos you have to continually back up so you can keep up to speed. Not to mention needing to have the computer near your project.

I have a little speaker for my work computer because I can never hear the messages left for me. (They come thru the computer now..not the phone). Maybe that would help.

I like a video that shows me something, but yes, I agree--they are a little wordy.

Nothing beats real books. My book collection is the one thing I think I miss the most. And the pictures in real books are very helpful. :))
