dam rabbit

For the last couple years we have been planting our tomatoes next to the shed. It had gotten a bit neglected and this year I wanted to clean it up. Monday I went out with shovel and got busy.

Once it was all dug up I used some very old and rough landscape timbers to put around it. Doesn't look too bad if I do say so myself.

Since there is only 2 of us I only planted 2 tomato plants and 1 pepper plant.

Tuesday morning I went out to check on them and both tomato plants look like this

DAM RABBIT!!!!

Apparently said rabbit is a fussy eater though because he didn't care for the pepper plant.

Notice the one leaf laying on the ground pretty much untouched. I guess he grabbed that, didn't like the taste and went back to the tomatoes.

In case you were wondering why I didn't post yesterday After the yard work on Monday and then some morning weeding on Tuesday my allergies had given me a terrible headache and I didn't even want to look at the screen. I love this time of year but I hate the seasonal allergies

The rabbits do the same thing here too. My little town is swarming with rabbits.

Have you tried any allergy medicines? I take three and they work wonderfully! I think he must have thought you planted a buffet all for him! Why not plant some carrots alongside, then maybe he will only eat that.

We have problems with rabbits as well Ann. My allergies have been awful this year...the pollen levels must be off the charts! I try Benadryl, but it just doesn't seem strong enough. Happy Thursday!

Seems the rabbits are EVERYwhere this year. Just the other day when I was out for my walk, I saw dozens in the area.

I'd prefer tomatoes over a pepper too. lol

They can eat one out of house and home.Hopefully they will leave you alone and the pants will survive.I have 88 hills, along with 100 peppers. This feeds many,my main garden is 1/2 acre.

Get some wire cages at the nursery...or plant in tall pots.
They can't reach mine.
I'm with you on the allergies!

We have the same problem with those bunnies - they must have eaten out of our garden $100 worth of new plants! Yikes!!! Our neighbor told us about a product they sell which is a rabbit / deer repellent in a shake and feed container so I went and got it and guess what it works! If you want the name let me know but your garden center should have it. Wilson also made up a 'natural spray' which needs to be re-applied after rain - I think the granules work far better. Dam rabbits!

Allergies - are awful this year. Went to an ENT even - he recommend using Flonase {sp?] which is over the counter as well as taking Zyrtec. I even went and got Muninex super-duper sinus pills. I also have a love-hate relationship with this time of year.

And the rabbit thanks you for their breakfast. It really does.

I hope you feel better soon. Many suffer with allergies this time of year.

Have a fabulous day. Big hug to you and my very best to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Rabbits can be a pain..we get them on the allotments..annoying but so darn cute!! Have you tried local raw honey for your allergies Ann?? If you can source some I recommend you try it!!

Oh no, so sorry about your poor tomato plants Anne, where was your fearless guard dog when your tomatoes were being munched on?! :OD wish I had a solution but if they are determined to eat your plants, they are going to eat your plants. Maybe plant the tomatoes in pots and keep them on the deck near the house? Don't think the rabbits would be brave enough to come up there especially with Gibbs staring them down through the sliding door! Deb xo

Rabbits and deer are both hard on gardens. I hope your allergies are under control this morning! Nice blog, can I come back to visit again?

Sprinkle moth ball crystals around the garden. It will be stinky, but you will have tomatoes.
