Returning

I took off this past Sunday and Tuesday so that I could have a long weekend for my birthday. I didn't have any special plans and wasn't going to do anything exciting I just didn't want to have to go to work. So yesterday I had to return to work after 4 days off. I was kind of dreading it but had no choice.

This is what I walked in to find

Balloons and a box of chocolates. They came from a man who everyone in town knows and once he knows your birthday he NEVER forgets it. If you didn't know him you would probably think he was homeless. He just celebrated his birthday on the 17th and I had handed him a huge stack of birthday cards (I think it was 131) that I had collected for him. I provided the cards and just asked customers to sign them. A couple of the other girls pitched in and bought a few boxes of cards too. I found boxes of 12 for $1.88. Any way, when I gave him his cards and we sang happy birthday to him he came around the counter and gave me a big hug. I think the balloons and candy were his way of saying thank you as well wishing me a happy birthday. Either way he made returning to work much nicer.

Good for you Anne, what a lovely thing to do. We should all start being a bit more thoughtful and kind then maybe things could improve in the world.
