Make do

Yesterday started out cold and I suppose if I think about it, it stayed cold since it didn't get past 50. But first thing in the morning it was only 30 and there was frost on the ground. It made it easy to see the path my neighbor took to mow his lawn.

The sun came out and cleared out all the frost but as nice as it looked there was a chill in the air with the wind.

It meant another good day to spend in the craft room. I worked on some more mother's day pins and then threw together a  real quick set of make do curtains. I have blinds on the window in the craft room but I don't like to have them closed all the way. I also don't like to be on display while sitting at my desk at night. I grabbed some fabric I had in my stash, did some quick measurements and whipped these up.
I know bad picture but you get the idea. They're just plain white because that's what I had. The problem with doing quick measurements and flying by the seat of your pants is that they weren't perfect and I did have to pull out the seam ripper to make some adjustments but all in all they work for now. I was also thinking that since they are plain white, at some point I could take them down and maybe use markers or paints to add some fun and color. We'll see if that ever happens or not.

Wish I could just whip up a pair of curtains at a moment's notice. People would pay big bucks for these.

It's been unusually cool here too. How nice to have a craft room with a window. I like your curtains and they serve a great purpose for privacy. When we first moved here, I actually used pillowcases on a tension rod to provide privacy on some of the windows until I could buy what I needed! lol

I have outside shutters and also fabric blinds in my studio. I don't like being on display either ;-)

I am with Ginny, I wish I could sew and whip up anything from curtains to repairing clothing that needs it.. I like the white and do not like anyone able to see me inside day or night

I like curtains better than blinds

It was very warm here yesterday, but the weekend the weather was like what you had yesterday without the frost. It was cold and very windy. A good day to stay in.

I love it that you can whip up curtains on the fly. I would never be able to do that. I flunked home economics in high school. Sad I know.

Have a fabulous day. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Isn't this weather insane? I'm sitting here freezing my butt off - Sometimes I wish I could rent a sewing machine (I'm sure I can, probably) - I figure I could do straight seams (ha, ha, ha!). I just gave away a wonderful bed spread because it was too big, obviously I know nothing about bed spreads or I would have realized just how large they are, but if I had a sewing machine I could have cut it down and re-sized it. Oh do make the time to decorate your curtains, I bet they would be wonderful!

What a difference a few hours can make.
I have some make-do curtains too . . . not what I maybe wanted, but made from what I had :) I always get a good feeling from using what I have on hand.

Frost? In May? We've been in the 70s so far this week but Thursday comes more rain and 50s again. Dang it anyway! I don't like being on display at night either and always have to have something covering the windows. Looks like you left the blinds up too. Do they cover the top and the curtains the bottom or what's going on there?

Don't you love a craftroom!? My house has been in such a mess that I have not been in my craftroom in a while. I sat up a small table in the living room to go to work on. I so need to get busy anyway.
