Time flies

Yesterday while standing at the time clock waiting to punch in I was looking at next weeks schedule. I knew that Thanksgiving was getting close but I didn't realize it was just over a week away.

I also noticed that I have the pleasure of working on Thanksgiving day. It will only be till about 11:00 or 11:30 so at least it's not a whole day. Then for the very first time EVER, I have off the Friday after Thanksgiving. Will I go out Black Friday shopping? Not on your life.

I love this arrangement!! Did you make it? I hope you have more than just Friday off! And I hope you don't have to cook a big meal for lots of people. It would be better to work.

I have always loved sunflowers and now I know why, because they are sunshine on a stem. yay for day after TG off, wish we were closer, we could go hiking far away from the madding crowd of shoppers... glad you get half day off on TG

I remember when I was younger having to work on holidays. So glad when I took a job that I was not required to do that and I had days given to me to take days like the before and after holidays. Working for the state though, employees elected to give up Columbus day (state holiday) for the day after Thanksgiving....it was nice to have the two days together. Glad you don't have to work a whole day. Will you be cooking?

We get T-day off, but have to do all the same total work we do each week except for the Ludington paper that one day, so Wednesday and Friday will be long. Also the Black Friday shopping flyers go out on Wednesday. That is our biggest and most difficult paper of the entire year. We will be working our butts off.

Aside from the grocery store I can't remember the last time I was in a brick and mortar store - or a mall! And even if I were to go you can bet it wouldn't be during the holiday season. When did "Black Friday" start? I remember back in the 1960's getting the day after Thanksgiving off for "Christmas Shopping" - yup that's exactly how it appeared on the company holiday schedule but I don't know that it was called Black Friday back then.

I remember working all the holidays when I was young. It was the way things went. Now I don't have to work them and they aren't as important now either. It was all about family back then and now there is little left.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Enjoy your Black Friday off work, Ann. Maybe you'll do what I do and that is... stay in my jammies all day. ;-) xoxo
