It's been years since I thought about these stories but I saw something while out walking that brought them all back to mind.
This may not be a box car, but it was close enough to remind me of the books
Did you ever read The Boxcar Children? What was your favorite book when you were a child?
I remember Mrs.Kuhn reading us those books when I was in 3rd Grade! Dont remember much of them but I remember liking them.

ReplyDeleteThat would certainly remind me of those stories. I'm pretty sure that I remember reading those stories. If they're the ones I'm thinking of, I really likes them.

ReplyDeleteSorry but I am not familiar with The Boxcar Children. My favorite book when I was still a kid was "Jack and the Beanstalk". It was a classic. ^_^
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with that story but it sounds like a good series. Great photo too - looks like that "boxcar" has lots of tales to tell.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if I have a favorite book from childhood - I read everything I could get my hands on and I still have 3 or 4 of them. The earliest memory I have of a book was a big picture book version of the Wizard of Oz.
And yes, a very cool picture.
My daughters read The Boxcar Children books ~ in fact I think I still have a stack of them. My favorites were Trixie Beldon, Donna Parker and Nancy Drew...all mystery series.

I haven't read The Boxcar Children but it sounds like a great book. I don't recall having a favorite book as a child but I do remember the story about the Tortoise and the Hare because I was forced to play the Hare in a play... I think I was about 7 or 8 years old then.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of the title, but can't remember whether I read them or not! My favourite books were those written by Astrid Lindgren. The stories were so wholesome :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. I am not familiar with the Boxcar Children though. As a kid I think I read every Nancy Drew book and Every book written by Judy Bloom.
ReplyDeleteNever read them. Your picture does look like a box car. I spent some time in them when I was young.I didn't physically lose my parents. My brother and I use to run away all the time.We always got caught and brought back to the leather strap.

ReplyDeleteI missed that series, too. I was way into Alice in Wonderland (over and over) and Nancy Drew mysteries. Which is interesting...I HATE mystery stories now. Guess I just read too much of them when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteYou know I've never read that series but it sounds like something I would like. I love adventures. I had many favorites but the one that really sticks with me is the Old Man and The Sea.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book when I was a child was Noddy. It's about a wooden toy with the spring as his neck. Very entertaining :)

I never read them! They sound like something I would of liked. I liked Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Read them about 100 times. This is another cool, but creepy picture! Don't old buildings seem eerie?
ReplyDeleteI've never read The Boxcar Children...but I am intrigued by what you have said so I am going to look them up...I don't know what was my favourite book as a child really....I loved Richard Adams and have a collection of Animal Stories which were hand picked by him and although I was bought this book for my 10th Christmas I still have it. I also remember reading a book called, Goodnight Mister Tom...it was quite a sad book and I remember crying my way through to the end...maybe not my most favourite books as a child but two of my most memorable reads!!

ReplyDeleteOh you've brought back a great memory, Ann! I loved that book... I say book, because I don't think I've read others in the series, but I loved the one that started it off. My mom was a children's librarian and she brought it home for me and mys sister to read. It was old even then, but so good.
