The party's over

I'm sure you've probably had your fill of the holiday celebration photos by now but indulge me just this once while I cry. This is the end of my long weekend and it's back to work tomorrow. Woe is me. Last night we were out in the backyard and I stuck some sparklers in the ground to take pictures of. I thought this one looked pretty cool

  2. Tanyia me neither. Sparklers are easy you don't have to worry about timing it right. You do need to use a tripod though.

  4. Way cool. You did a very good job with this photo. We watched the neighbors do their fireworks last night. Some had a really nice, expensive bunch of fireworks. I liked the price...nothing.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)

  13. Well at least sparklers are relatively quiet ..... my puss is not a great fireworks fan! There were none over hear at least within hearing distance but then we often hear load thunderclaps of fireworks for all the various religious celebrations. These seem to range right throughout the year. So I suppose we should all thank the Chinese for this very early invention!!

I hope that you enjoyed your celebrations ....

  14. It's terrific - and so amazingly crisp! I was kicking myself the other night because I didn't even think to take my camera outside with me to the pasture (I wanted to see how it did shooting pictures of the fireworks). Guess I'll just have to wait until next year *sigh*.

  19. Outstanding sparkler shots. I remember when we were young, each 4th we would set off sparklers among other fireworks in our back yard. It wasn't banned at that time.

  20. Do you mean to say that there is not a party going on at your house everyday?

  21. OK, I'm gonna leave my comment AGAIN.

I loved that photo - it's like it happening right now, right here, just the way I remember them.

  22. Ugh, I hate the going-back-to-work day. It just hurts so to have that alarm going off in the wee hours!!

    Lovely photo, Ann.

  23. Sharkbytes, thanks, I took several and this one by far was the best

Sandee ah yes, nothing is always the right price for me too

Roschelle I didn't get to see any big displays either. Just the one a neighbor of mine does. Not impressive but it'll do

Tahtimbo, Well I'll be crying right along with your wife then

Vanilla seven I haven't played with them in a while myself. it was fun

LDH I always loved them when I was a kid, I don't know why I haven't been doing this all along

beaded tail flash and no bang is much more fun :)

urban cowboy thank you, i know the feeling on the picture envy, I still have it when I see awesome pictures.

allotments4you i'm not very good at night shots either. A tripod is a must

    duni thank you very much

kloggers/polly aw your poor cat. we don't really have that many times during the year when fireworks are going off

Jen sounds like something I would do with forgetting to take the camera.

JuneZach it was a nice holiday. I used to work nights and I hated it. I'm very glad I don't any more

Russ I hate it when they do stuff on weird nights. I always miss the fireworks because I expect them to be on the holiday and they usually do them on a different day

out on the prairie yeah I like the little stars. I only did four because it took too long for me to get them lit and by the time I got the 4th one the first was burning way down.

Kelly thanks for the compliment and the pat on the shoulder. I needed that going back to work today :)

poetic shutterbug thank you. we always had sparklers to play with on the 4th too. it was so much fun.
I think sparklers are one of the few things that are still legal around here

fishhawk believe it or not we are actually very boring people :)

grace takes you back a bit doesn't it :)

Lin it was very painful when that alarm went off this morning. Even more so because I had to get up and Wade didn't . He has the whole week off. NOT FAIR
