Autumn colors

I don't think that the Autumn colors are going to be as spectacular as they have been in past years. What I've been seeing is trees that have spots of color. Some have already lost all their leaves, some are still all green.
Like these trees in my backyard. The pear tree is half bear and the leaves that are there are a lovely color. The tree behind it is still all green.
At least I have my marigolds to give me the bright fall colors.
I've been wanting to take a drive to get some pictures but the weather over the past weekend wasn't the most pleasant. It was more suited to staying inside curled up under a blanket. There may be plenty of people who would disagree with me on that one but if I can find a reason to sit at home and do nothing, I'm running with it.

  1. Our colors will all be gone by this weekend. Yours are pretty, I hope you get the pictures and I love being under a blanket too! :D

  2. Your flowers are pretty. Our colors are in all different stages too. I agree, sometimes it's just best to stay home all cozy instead of trekking out to see the leaves!

  4. Very pretty marigolds... they were my dad's favorite flower. I am wondering about the fall foliage too since we have had so little rain all summer. Still hoping for great colors!

  6. We're hardly getting any changes here, either. It was a really weird summer and the fall is shaping up to be just as strange. It's like the seasons are confused or something.

  11. Ann, what gorgeous colors and composition on that first shot. I love it. Your marigolds are striking and just beautiful.

  12. It all depends upon how much rain you-all got. For too little will cause the leaves to go dead brown and fall off real quick. Whereas, too much will keep many leaves from turning yellow, orange and red before they fall off.

  16. Oh, I love Marigolds. It's like growing your own sunshine. The leaves here aren't as pretty as they usually are. We've had mostly rain for the past week. Maybe after the first frost they will change colors. And I love staying home curled up under a blanket. It's my happy place. :)

  18. I put the marigolds in for their lasting past a frost even. Lots of color here. Was surprised you knew my neighbors, the O Reily's. Small world.

  19. I have to agree that the marigolds are gorgeous. A lot of leaves have fallen off here and I think it is from not having any rain. But so far we don't have any fall color.
Take care and have a super day.

  20. I'm so with you there. I'm hoping the colors take their time to develop and then really pop in early November when i'll be taking a small road trip. We shall see. I did see a few pretty colors on my way to work today but I haven't seen anything that has blown me away. I really wish I was home under my blankets today too. It's the perfect day for it.

  21. I have been wanting to get out and take some pictures too but the weather has been bad when I have time. Maybe this weekend. You are right the color is spotted.

  22. The same with me, I wanted to go out and take some fall picture for my blog banner, I am not a good photographer at all. But when there were a ton of pictures, there tent to be one that I can use.
The weather? I had been turning on the heat at night for my children.

  23. Love the Marigold photo - it's such a happy little flower!
I'm noticing a lack of color around our neighborhood too! Maybe I'll go out searching for some color this coming weekend ~ probably not though! Too much on my "to do" list. Plus a little time doing nothing at home would be good too. I think that would be a better choice right now!

B boys mom this weekend is supposed to be a little nicer and I'll be out with a friend on Sunday. Hopefully I'll get some shots

Helen yep, my husband turned our furnace on last weekend. Me, I would have waited and complained how cold it was but he gave in...lol. Believe me when I go out taking pictures, there are more bad than good ones.

marie, very happy, can't help but smile when you see that color. I've opted for the "doing nothing" more and more lately.

  25. I agree Ann, the trees around my house are turning right to brown and falling off. I'm so sad, this is my favorite time of the year.
