Michael Creations made a fabric cover for a notebook or any book really. I used one of those black and white composition notebooks, which is what she used in the tutorial as well. She explains how to do the measurements for other size books. Mine may not be as good as hers, especially since I seem to have a problem with sewing in a straight line but I had fun. I think now that I did the first one I'll do a few more to give as gifts. Of course I'll choose other fabrics and maybe decorate them a little more.
Any way, this is the one I made. I've had this fabric sitting around for ages and finally used it for something.
This is the inside. The lining fabric is actually blue but it looks black in the picture. I guess that's what happens when you take pictures in the house at night.

ReplyDeleteI like this idea for fabric don't ware out easily. But sewing is definitely a challenge for me.
ReplyDeleteYou could really dress up a gift as a journal with that. Hey I feel good to do a button, but usually take it to my sewing lady.
ReplyDeleteI think it's neat. I'm just not crafty. I try stuff but it turns out horrible, so I quit trying. I can do lots of other stuff, but crafts...no. I love see all the things you make.

That is very, very nifty! I saw an Etsy shop where the person is making iPad covers out of old men's suits. Actually you could make these in standard book sizes and they would be great gifts. So very nice!

ReplyDeleteHey this looks great...I remember when I was at school every year we had to start by covering all of our 'new yet used' books. I wish I had known about this back then...I could have made them once and then just transferred them every year saving time and effort...(notice I didn't say money there?? that's because we weren't exactly a rich family so my books always matched our houses walls..lol!!)

audrey it really wasn't difficult at all and didn't take very long either. so many options too, you could add a strap for closing it, pockets, more decoration, the sky is the limit
