Feeding frenzy

What a wonderful surprise I came home to the other day. I pulled in my driveway and spotted a flash of yellow from the tree in my front yard. I immediately knew it had to be a gold finch and they are always a welcome sight. I got out of the car and suddenly I realized that there wasn't one but at least a dozen of them.
In this first picture there are 3 on the feeder and 4 on the ground.

Apparently they are quite pleased with the cuisine at this particular establishment because they have been returning. It is a total pleasure to watch them.

I used a texture from Shadowhouse creations and another from Kim Klaussen. It may possibly be a bit on the dark side but I liked it

  1. Oh, my gosh! At first I thought that someone had bought you a birdcage with birds and hung them on the tree for you to see when you got home - they look like domestic pets...how pretty!

  5. Oh, that is so much fun to have the gold finches. We had them here one time. I cannot put out a bird feeder with all the cats here. I love watching the birds but I am scared the cats will jump up and get them. Great pictures. Hugs to Duke.

  7. Your birdies are so pretty! We don't have goldfinches but we have red ones along with the Chicakdees and I could watch them all day long. Angel and Isabella can too!

  8. The goldfinches are feisty these days and they reprimand you if the feeder is empty. Oh, and if Hobbes goes outside. They do not like orange stripes apparently!

I DO know how to layer, Ann, believe it or not! I have not had the time to use the link you sent me, but I hope to soon when things die down here a bit. :)

The goldfinch have slowed down over here, but for a month or two, they were eating us out of house and home.
