I ♥ thrifting

Saturday while Duke was getting himself all spiffed up I hit another thrift store. Let me just tell you that I had to force myself to the register so that I didn't buy any more.
I'll show you half today and half tomorrow.
I thought this little cat was cute and for 59 cents how could I pass it up. I had to tell Duke that it was really a dog though.

This wood bowl will look nice on the middle of my dining room table. I want to paint it and then sand the edges a bit but I'm not sure what color I want to paint this one just yet.

I was thrilled when I found these wood bowls. I know they are a salad set but I have other plans for them. Can you believe all 5 bowls were only $1.69?

Going through the craft section I found all kinds of little treasures. Some as cheap as 19 cents.
Tomorrow I'll show you the rest and give you the grand total for how much I spent.

  4. Oh I'm betting you'll do adorable things with crafting supplies! I like that wood bowl just the way it is - maybe some leaves stenciled on it - but then you know me - most of the time I like things right out of the box (so to speak).

  5. I don't like thrift stores as I don't really get the thrill of the hunt, but I know we scored BIG when we went there for the band parent trophy. That said, I bring all of my stuff to the local Goodwill Store and that place is mobbed. People LOVE that place!

Looks like you got good treasures, Ann.

  8. wow, you found some great stuff there! I love those bowls... and I vote for white for painting the dark one! With some sanding and mussing up it would look awesome!

  9. Oh I LOVE thrift stores (and antique shops, and flea markets, and... ahem). I think I am probably glad that our thrift store here does not have a craft section - I would be in sooooo much trouble :o)
Can't wait to see the rest!

  10. I love those kind of stores. I'm glad that I'm not a crafter though as those stores would be even more dangerous!

  12. Love the salad bowls set - you can do so much with those. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

The wooden pedestal bowl is great too. How about painting it off-white with a bit of sanding and staining. Then you could use it all year and fill it with all sorts of holiday color.

I'm looking forward to seeing what other treasures you found!

  18. I've been forewarned by several people that going to thrift stores can become addictive. That's why I stay away as long as I can.

Love the bowl!!!! I don't know what your plans are, but if you're going to put it on the diningroom table during something 'seasonal'...like Fall [LOL] I'd choose a minty, light lime green with Autumn foliage. Just thinking to myself here...

Love your craft finds too. You did good.
