All three trees were made very inexpensively. I used poster board to make a cone shape because have you seen the price of styrofoam cones? The tallest one I wrapped the cone with jute twine and then added a ribbon garland. The one to the left cut green burlap that I had from another poject, in to short little strips and then hot glued them to the cone. Finally the shortest of the trees was just a piece of green felt that I whipstitched up the side and slid over the cone. I used some white puff paint to make it look like snow. Or at least it was supposed to look like snow but I'm thinking not so much.
There you have it, a trio of trees on the cheap.

Good job! It seems like the styrofoam shapes at the craft stores are outrageously priced, so a cardboard substitute is a smart way to go.
ReplyDeleteStyrofoam anything has skyrocketed for sure. these are really cool, i like the one with the burlap best of the three... and it does look like snow OR icing? maybe edible trees next time? can we see a closeup of the white Saint Nick? he looks like one i would love. you are sooooo talented... you never cease to amaze me with your crafts.

Oh my goodness - I have to say that not only are they pretty - but just the way you think things up is amazing. I could never do that. I liked all of them - they are all different. And the price of Styrofoam - why is it so much????
