I had a request to show a close up of the St. Nicholas that I have on my mantel and how could I pass up the opportunity to play with my camera.
I've had this for quite some time. He is actually a tree topper but I never liked him on the top of the tree. He normally sits on a table each year.
Saint Nicholas (in Greek: “Victory of the People”) the common name of a
Lycian saint and Roman Catholic Bishop of Myra in Anatolia (in
modern-day Turkey, though then it was a Greek-speaking Roman Province).
He was born during the third century (around 270 AD) in the village of
Patara. He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, but is now commonly
identified with, and often as, Santa Claus. (taken from listverse.com )
Woof! Woof! GREAT shots. Golden Thanks for sharing. Happy Friday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteI, too, think he looks so much better showcased by himself than atop a tree.
ReplyDeleteLove the first photo..and the close-up. He's got a good face!
ReplyDeleteI like the pictures, and he looks nice where he stand :)
ReplyDeleteI just love this group of photos Ann! He is kind of similar to the guy that is hanging out in my living room!
ReplyDeleteGood idea to sit him on the table instead of on top of the tree. Love the details on him and the glittery beard :)

ReplyDeleteWow, those are some true close-ups! (Is that a booger blocking his left nostril in the third shot?)
ReplyDeleteThat is one gorgeous Santa - you are blessed to have him. sandie
ReplyDeleteGreat decoration. And it would go with any color scheme you wanted to emphasize for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to see an old timey Santa. He is pretty special. Great pictures.

Wow----love that St. Nicholas. He is GORGEOUS.... I have a blog friend who posts different pictures of all of the St. Nicholas Churches around the world. Very interesting.

He's a lovely one!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I wouldn't like him on top of the tree either. I'm a traditionalist--its got to be an angel on top.
ReplyDeletehe's very handsome on the mantel though.
