Yesterday

This is one of the hardest posts I've ever had to write. Yesterday (Thursday) Duke crossed Rainbow Bridge. He carried with him a big piece of our hearts.

Good bye sweet boy. You gave me joy and I miss you so very much.

  4. Oh NO! Ann....I'm so very, VERY sorry. Oh, I know how much you loved him...we all did too. My heart aches today. I am saying a prayer that you are okay... and that my dear dog friend, Duke, looks over you and encourages you to remember all the good times you had together.

I heard a dog on the next block barking for nearly two hours yesterday. I thought of Duke because I know you said he was a barker. For some reason, I just kept hearing that dog when I usually just tune him out. I'm thinking now that it was my buddy Duke saying goodbye. :(

    I'm gonna go cry now.

  29. I'm so sorry mom. Dukers was the best dog I think we...well you had. He had a personality like no other! I will miss him jumping on me when I walk into the house, I will miss the way he would bark at the cupboard door and pick his treat and I'm actually going to miss him annoyingly getting in my face to say I love you. I am sad as well but I know that at least he isnt in pain anymore.

  30. OMG, Ann. When Bernie told me, I felt so bad. I know how much you loved him. When I read your post, I cried. Brought back memories of Dixie. I bet Dixie was waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge, so he isn't alone and he isn't hurting anymore. They will play together until we get there to be reunited with them again. Hugs to you, my friend!! RIP Duke, you were a sweet boy indeed!!

Even though I have not received any clear confirmation on such, be assured that I desperately want to believe that our beloved pets will also spend all of eternity with us in our Heavenly Father's Kingdom of Heaven, along with other critters of all sort of shapes and sizes.

  41. Hello Ann, I read about your loss from Grace's post,(Dragon's Alley) and I'm so very sorry.

I lost my first dog a month before my son was born 28 years ago, and I believe he carries 'a big piece of our heart,'as I carry his...

    It sounds like Duke was a winner, to quote Ralph Waldo Emerson;

"to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

Hang in there, and know he will always be with you-

    Huge hug to you-

Ann, from A Nice Place In The Sun.

  43. God saw you getting weaker,
so he did what he thought was best.

He came and stood beside you
and he whispered, 'Come to rest.'
    We could not understand it,
    no matter how we tried.

"If love could have saved you,
    you never would have died."

I don't remember the author's name but I think this about says it all....
Sending ALL my prayer and love to you, sweet lady...
