A couple weeks later I came home and saw the robin flying out of the tree. I checked the nest and this time there were 4 eggs in there. Poor mama has to fly out of the nest every time anyone comes or goes through the front door.
I started out the door the one day but stopped before I opened it because I noticed she was in the nest. I snapped a quick one that's not very good. Funny thing is I know I see a robin flying in and out of that tree all the time but it doesn't look like a robin to me in this picture

Hope they make it. I put a board out on a tree so they stay away from my home. They just like a shelf.

ReplyDeleteshe is adorable and i can't identify birds except for a few common here. i got all excited when i saw the title, i thought you got Gibbs a brother or sister to play with... we had baby cardinals in a plant on our porch one year, but that was before digital camera.

ReplyDeleteIt could be that you see two different robins flying in and out of the tree. The daddy is dressed in a red vest, while the momma is totally brown:)

Your Robins look totally different to ours which have a distinctive red breast. I am glad she has managed to lay again and I hope her babies are all ok.

ReplyDeleteI've been watching a second House Finch's nest on our back patio - there are three or four babies in it (I have photos of the babies from the first one on the blog's photography page). She looks more like a species of Wren to me, but I'm certainly no expert.
ReplyDeleteI always get excited when a bird nest nearby and I can watch the eggs hatch and babies grow. Once in a while it is an inconvenient place like your door. Sweet pic!

ReplyDeleteHopefully she will have better luck with this clutch of eggs. Can you use the back door for a while so she doesn't get disturbed so often? Love seeing those big old robin mouths wide open and waiting for food when they hatch LOL!
