My computer was moving slow and I clicked several times trying to get the upload window to pop open. The next thing I knew this picture had been uploaded. Long time readers will remember Duke. I don't remember how long ago this was taken but I'm pretty sure that Sandra from Mad Snapper did this picture.
Everyone keeps asking me if I'm ready for Christmas. Well I guess I am but I'm more ready for Jan 2nd and the holidays to be over with. There really isn't all that much for me to do. I'm not buying gifts this year, the budget just won't allow it. I'm not doing any baking because I'll eat too much of it. No parties to go to and I'm not even sure who all will be coming over here.
At least the decorations are up, which makes my daughter happy and I'm enjoying the lights from the Christmas tree in the evenings.
Christmas time has changed a lot over the years for us too. We just don't do the big full-house celebrations like days gone by.
ReplyDeleteIt's fine by me. And, like you I still decorate but no gift giving or packages shipped.
I prefer my quiet laid back holidays
Deletewe stopped doing Chrismtas 12 years ago. the only thing I do is the NOOK... but then you know this already. I don't remember if I did that but I think I did. that is PiZap and I was in it back then.. glad you found it. I loved Duke and miss him
ReplyDeleteChristmas has changed - it no longer seems to be about getting together with family and friends, sharing good food, etc. - I miss it but glad I have the memories of it.
ReplyDeleteIt sure has. I have fond memories of Christmas growing up. I do like the quiet laid back holidays I have now though
DeleteI hope you find some fun things to do this weekend! Love the Christmas card of you! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOur Christmas is quiet too. If the kids weren't coming over, it would be Joe and I. I have culled the gift list over the years and now it is mostly just us and I buy the kids things that they need for their apartments and some fun stuff. It's good to simplify.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you for putting up decorations. I know it's hard.
Quiet is just fine with me. I've had plenty of loud crazy holidays and I'm over it...lol
DeleteI do like seeing the decorations and I enjoy having the tree lit at night.
We don't have any decorations at all. It's all good because we decided some years ago that ladders were out of the mix. A wise choice.
ReplyDeleteI remember Duke very well. He was s cutie pie.
You'll find your grove as time goes by. It's a process and I think you're doing very well.
Have a fabulous day and weekend, my friend. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥
It seems like the older we get the less we do at Christmas. I suppose after all those years of making a fuss it just seems like time to slow it down
DeleteA quiet time may be just what is needed. As for gifts, I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed with a special gift that you made.
ReplyDeleteDuke was your 'soul' pet - those of us who have shared our lives with animals usually have one - we love all of our fur-babies but some we make a connection to that exceeds common sense.
Yes, quiet works for me.
DeleteYou've got that right about Duke. I've had lots of dogs over the years but none clicked with me like Duke did.
Who could ever forget lovely little Duke, I still remember him.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I don't really do much for Christmas and am usually glad when its over, it really annoys me that the shops start it so early.

Duke is a hard one to forget especially since he had such a big presence here on the blog.
DeleteI'm annoyed too by the shops starting so early. By the time Christmas gets here I'm tired of seeing it all
Christmas has always been a fairly quiet time for us, even when my daughter was little. We had a number of presents to shop for and send, but I got that out of the way by Thanksgiving so I could enjoy the peacefulness of the season.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great weekend!
Thankfully I have nothing that has to be mailed other than maybe a few Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteI remember Duke well, and still look at my magnet with his picture on it. I know this will be such a very sad Christmas for you.I also know you have been doing so well and are so strong!
ReplyDeleteOh Duke I miss him! I still type his name sometimes instead of Gibbs. Always thinking of you sending big hugs
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I've ever heard about Duke. I love Westies. We have had a few and our daughter had one who passed this year. I wish you lived nearby, would love to have you over to celebrate Christmas with us. I'm ready but my trees are not done yet. Shopping is done and packages were mailed yesterday. Still have gifts to wrap for our Christmas day.
