Last weekend I was out on the deck and happened to look up at the vent from the stove hood.
It actually doesn't serve any purpose anymore because the hood was replaced with a over the stove microwave and that fan isn't vented outside. Any way, it didn't look quite right and I took a closer look.
Holy smokes!!! How long has that thing been building? I made a trip to Walmart for some wasp and hornet spray. I am not about to share my home with these guys.
I'm glad you saw it in time to do something about it!
ReplyDeleteme too. That nest could have gotten massive
DeleteWow, that is quite the nest. Yup, they need to be gone. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThey sure do. I think I'll block the vent also to keep them from going back in
DeleteSpray them at dusk when they are all home for the night. And then...run like hell!
ReplyDeleteI did spray the other night. It killed them instantly and I didn't see any more activity at all. I expected a boat load of them to come flying out but nope. Dead. The can said that it will also kill the ones that return. I haven't taken it out of there yet but I need to soon
DeleteOh wow! Be damn careful. That might be the sort of thing that it’s worth paying a professional.
ReplyDeleteI sprayed it and haven't seen any more activity. The can said to wait 24 hours so I should be good to go out there and take it down now
DeleteOh good - I was afraid they might swarm and sting you. Good-o then!
DeleteThey were building one inside our boat and we took care of that pronto. They sting something awful.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥
They had started another one between my storm door and inside door to the basement. That was a small one that I knocked down
DeleteOh...they're scary! I have a terrible allergic reaction is stung. I wouldn't want to share ANYplace with 'em.
ReplyDeleteI'm not allergic but I don't care to get stung by them. I am not sharing my house with them
DeleteOH ICK!! Do you know what they are? Are you going to do this yourself? Be careful! Phil waits till twilight, as they don't fly then. He sprays then RUNS! Don't wear heels, ha ha!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if they are wasps or hornets. I did spray it the other night and it killed them instantly. THe can said it will also instantly kill any that return to the nest. I haven't gone back out to take it down yet, I'm kind of chicken...lol But I haven't seen any live ones out there
DeleteYou're brave!! I would be so scared to spray them!!
ReplyDeleteI was kind of leery but the can said it would kill them instantly and it did
DeleteOh, goodness...what a nest! I am glad the spray worked. I hate getting stung.
ReplyDeleteYikes....that is not good at all. Hoping the spray took care of that stinging issue.
ReplyDeleteIt killed them on contact. Now I just need to take it down and then block that off so they can't get back in there to build again
DeleteYikes! You sure don't need those guys getting into your house.
