The other day I mentioned that I only purchased one small ornament when I went to the craft show on Saturday. Anni asked where the picture of the ornament was and if it was a yearl tradition to buy a new one each year.
Well here is the picture
It's really nothing special but I liked the way she used the canning jar lid to make these and I wanted to buy one so I would remember how she did it and maybe make some of my own.
Years ago, when my kids were growing up, I used to give each of them a new ornament every year. That stopped for some reason when they got older but other than that I've never had a tradition of buying a new ornament every year.
I can't wait to see the one YOU make! I know they will be even cuter!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ginny, and I think you were smart to buy it to remind you of the idea.
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea. And, I'm happy to see what you bought, knowing you'll make some with your talented gift of crafting. I have dozens of ornaments that once was a tradition in a way...representing family members (like a US Marine tin soldier for son, etc. Stopped buying them & they remain packed (glass plus kitten don't mix)
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute ornament and I look forward to your makes. ^^
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to make new memories every year.....I started to write every day! heehee! Holiday hugs!
ReplyDeleteI too love seeing what you bought. And that is a great idea. Wondering what the back side looks like niw.
ReplyDeletegood idea to buy it as a pattern to remember by. I am thinking you could make these even prettier... I see it has your snowman on it... when I see snowmen I think of you and your collection....
ReplyDeleteThat definitely looks like something YOU would create.
ReplyDeleteI used to buy ornaments each year for my kids so that when they left home and had a family of their own, they had plenty of ornaments (and memories) to start their new life. I only buy new ornaments when I find something cute. We usually have a really big tree, so there is plenty of room.
ReplyDeleteI love that ornament. I love the tradition of a new ornament each year.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥
Those are adorable!! I made some many years ago as gifts and I actually screwed them on a ball jar full of mini candy canes instead of the ornament idea. Love it!! HUGS
ReplyDeleteI have to buy at least one new ornament every Christmas. I can't resist and probably would buy 25 of them if I could!
ReplyDeleteGinny, I may not get around to it this year. I already have several unfinished projects
ReplyDeleteCheerfulMonk, my sister in law used to always do that and I thought it was a great idea
Anni When I was putting all my ornaments on the tree I chose mostly the ones that were either hand made or gifts. I realized that there were a lot of them that I know were given to me but I couldn't remember by who or when
Grace, my signature style...lol
Lin I started that a long time ago with my kids too. They each had their own tree to put up in their rooms and I gave them usually a hand made ornament every year. I stopped when they got older. I should have kept doing it.
Sandee, I think most years I add a new one either that was a gift or one that I made. I've got way too many ornaments for the tree I have though
Ann That's a great idea too.
ReplyDeletedefinitely a great idea...even if you use the perserving jar top in another way...
ReplyDeleteCute..
ReplyDeleteIt's a cute ornament. Have fun making some!
