I was out in the backyard recently and I noticed something red in the grass.
Of course I had to do some investigating and realized they were itty bitt little strawberries
I picked a few and took them inside for a little photo shoot.
If you are wondering, yes, I couldn't help myself and had to see how it tasted. I popped one in my mouth and promptly spit it back out because it tasted pretty disgusting.
We have a couple really small patches of these! I was never brave enough to taste any, but now you have done it for me! I guess they are wild strawberries.
ReplyDeleteyuck, I never taste wild anything, even the things THEY say I can.. so tiny maybe they did not get big enough to to get sweet
ReplyDeleteI call them fake strawberries.. I did find the real name but have forgotten it.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo shoot and OMDs...I appreciate your brave attempt at at taste test

haha.....I have always wondered since I was a child how they would taste. Thanks for letting me know, that is now on the list of things that i do not ever have to try!!! lol
ReplyDeleteWow, that's interesting. So sorry that they do not taste good.
ReplyDeleteWe have then around here too and just like you I tasted one and spit it out!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou’re braver than I am but they did make pretty photos. Pretty little strawberries too.
ReplyDeleteWe used to love wild strawberries on the land but haven't had any since the 2011 fire. It sounds as if you have mock strawberries, not the real wild ones: https://thepracticalplanter.com/can-you-eat-wild-strawberries/
ReplyDeleteIt's odd they didn't taste good. I've eaten "wild" strawberries before and found them quite tasty. So I'm guessing that perhaps yours are a different kind. They sure are cute though.
ReplyDeleteJust checked it out and your have the "mock" variety. See this information: https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/mock-strawberry-plants/
ReplyDeleteThey are all around our house. The birds love them.
