Out in the yard

These pictures were all taken on May 5th. Everything is looking so good.

This is the lilac that Amanda gave me last year.

I thought I would try something different with my peonies this year. The blooms are always heavy and droop down, especially after it rains. I took an old tomato cage and put it upside down over the plant to help everything stand up straight. Hopefully this works.

  1. That is a dandy idea for the Peonies! I don't know what any of the other plants are except the lilac!

  2. What a great idea for the peonies. Ours have been growing each year and this year there are masses of blooms. I will have to make do with tying mine up I think.

  10. Your hostas are so pretty. I planted the variegated kind like that and I planted the solid green ones. All of my variegated died and all of my solid green are thriving. It's a mystery?

  14. Your yard is looking beautiful, and it’s always a joy to see how everything starts to come alive in May. That lilac from Amanda must feel extra special knowing it came from someone you care about. I really like your creative idea with the tomato cage for the peonies—such a smart and resourceful way to support those heavy blooms without taking away from their beauty. I hope it works out well for you, especially during those rainy days when peonies tend to droop. Little garden experiments like this are what make gardening fun and personal. Thanks for sharing a bit of your outdoor space!
