Thursday Jan 15th we got hit with another round of lake effect snow. This is what it looked like out my window that day.
I was able to get out of the driveway so I made an attempt to go to work. I got 2, maybe three miles away from home and I went up a hill to turn on to one of the main roads. There's a flashing light there and I had to make a complete stop to wait for another car. When I went to go I couldn't. I just sat there spinning my tires. I tried backing up a little and going again but no luck. I was able to turn so I turned around right there in the road and went back home and called off.
Later I was so glad that I did because all day I kept hearing about accidents happening because of the weather. There were several multi car pileups and my alternate route for bad weather had traffic backed up because of people getting stuck on that hill and not being able to make it up.

ReplyDeleteat first I thought, oh no, another call off day today, then noticed the date that this is the past one. glad its not another call out. hope the weather is good today, I see a huge storm is coming this week end.. that might get you
ReplyDeleteSomething very similar happened to me once. I was going up a slight hill in our neighborhood and right in the middle of the road there was a dog just sitting. I had to stop and wait for him to move and when he finally did I realized I was stuck. Eventually I was able to get myself moving again. Stay warm. We're about to get hit with a snowmegedan here.

Oh my, I'm glad you were able to turn the car and go back home. You have had a lot of snow so far this winter.
