April Showers

Last Sunday I went to a bridal shower for a girl who I used to work with. Let me just tell you I HATE showers but I went any way. She's marrying one of the guys I work with and since I like them both I sucked it up and went. This one was no different than any of the other ones I've ever been to except for the fact that it was at a church social hall instead of someone's house and there were a ton of people there.
They did have some cute favors though.
Can you guess what Jeff's favorite hobby is?

In case you don't know, that's a fishing bobber.
I also thought the napkins were pretty cute so I brought one home.
I guess it made me think of quilling when I saw it.

  1. I'm with you on my feelings about showers, but once in awhile we do have to "suck it up!" That is so SO funny- I know just exactly how you feel!

  2. Oh I totally agree.. I despise things like showers --and get-togethers like that... BUT--that one must have been fairly cute. Love the napkin... CUTE!!!

  3. They don't tend to have bridal showers over here. Women now copy men. Men have a stag night out and women have a hen night out. Often (but not always) it requires the women dressing up in matching outfits ... these can be anything from t-shirts to fluffy fairy outfits, etc.

  4. Like you I hate showers as well and avoid them at all costs. However, these favors are cute and I love the napkin design.

  5. Hopefully you didn't have to play the regular 'shower' games ~ that is a drag for sure.

But those napkins are indeed cute! :)

  6. Good girl! I hate those things too, it's like instant replay. If you've seen one you've seen them all. (I'm terrible). But I bet you had some fun! The bobber is adorable, I've never seen that one.

  7. I love anything to do with weddings! And it's a good thing you told what that was since I would never have guessed. Never saw one before, never went fishing.

  8. Very cute!! Now, why don't you like showers?

  9. Cute bobber! Wonder how much she'll celebrate his love of fishing once he's always "gone fishin"! :) I got invited to a baby shower in a couple of weeks and I'm so not comfortable at those things.

  10. The fish bobber is a cute idea. I don't like showers either

  11. A fishing bobber? I was going to say he likes making Christmas baubles for the tree

  12. You are right. That flower on the napkin really does remind me of the quilled flowers you make!
Hope you had fun, even though you're not into showers ;-)

  13. It sure does look like quilling... how funny! So, shall we speculate how long it will be before it pops up here disguised as a card? Not too long, I'd wager *Laugh*

  14. Oh yes, that napkin just has to be an 'instant quilling pattern'!

  15. So, she got him hooked good--huh?

  16. I hate those kind of things too. Also your work is much better. But that is cute.

  17. Yep, that's a quilled design waiting to happen if I ever saw one! Go for it, Ann. :)

  18. my first thought when i saw the napkin was Ann can quill this design and i bet she will. cute little favor and i recognized it immediately, my dad was so happy when he had one of these on his fishing pole, not a fly rod, a pole and sitting on the bank of the river with that bomber floating. boring boring is what i thought, but he loved it. and i feel the same way about all showers, good girl for sucking it up

  19. Well at least you can get some different ideas for quilling. Showers can be a drag. People usually gather in little clicks. But if you just let go you can usually have fun.

  20. We never had the shower, so I missed out.

  21. I know what you mean, showers, it's one of those obligatory things people endure to show they care ;-)...but as a young bride-to-be, you can use all the support you can get, I suppose!

Sounds like you're not worse for the wear and maybe even had a good time?

  22. sharkbytes oh they are the pits aren't they

betsy actually it was just like all the rest I just amused myself with the camera...lol

kloggers hen night sounds like fun although I can't stay up late any more. If it's past 9:00 pm I'm ready for bed :)

poetic shutterbug I avoid them most of the time, make up any excuse I can

catherine wasn't that lucky, there were the typical shower games

miawa oh yeah, one is just like another. The whole time I kept thinking "get me out of here" :)

grace, weddings themselves aren't so bad, but the showers, unless they are your own are horrible

ginny can't explain it, I've just always hated them. Maybe it's those darn games...lol

beaded tail Well she knows how much he likes his fishing and I'm not sure if she goes with him or not. Baby showers are just as bad if not worse than bridal showers

country mouse I thought so too.

Pat I can't see this game sitting around making Christmas baubles..lol

Duni it just screamed out quilling when I saw it

Jen oh you may or it may just get shoved into that great big pile of things I thought were a great idea but never got around to

Philippa that's what I though. Now will I ever do anything with it?

Fishhawk, oh he's hooked bad. Wonder what kind of bait she used

    Marg aren't they dreadful?

Ann adding it to the list...lol

Sandra I'm thinking about it, but sometimes that's as far as my intentions get. I always though fishing was pretty boring too, that and golf

russ I hung at one table that was all the other people from work, all 4 of us...lol

out on the prairie I had one and the only reason I didn't hate that one is because it was for me...lol

doris I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates them. I don't think I would say I had a good time but I did survive...lol

  23. I don't care for showers either. Just as soon stay home and watch the grass grow, but sometimes you just have to go. Love the napkins.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)

  24. Mom i'm right there with ya on the hating bridal or baby showers. I hate the games they want you to do. When I get married we'll just have a get together and no games how bout that!?!

  25. Showers are a bit boring. Weekend before last I had a bridal and a baby shower on the same day. I like giving gifts but sitting through the time consuming task of opening each one seems like forever for the dear girls and the guests.

I can see why you like the favor and the napkin... cute!

    ReplyDelete
  26. If they have good food then I don't mind going! The napkin is so you!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ahahaha - Haaaay...I have one of those piles too! (and it's alarmingly large ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  28. sandee yeah watching the grass grow does sound like more fun...lol

amanda the games are stupid. that sounds like a plan

LDH oh no two on the same day. I wouldn't mind if they just waited until they got home to open their gifts. We didn't even stay to watch her open any

reeni the food was ok but it wasn't anything special really

jen mine is getting quite large also. One of these days I may try to whittle it down a bit, or not.
