Saturday night I had a horrible nights sleep and when the alarm went off at 4a.m on Sunday morning I was not ready to get up for work. I dragged myself through the house getting dressed and then pushed myself out the door.
When I got to work one of the first things I saw was the two cake orders hanging on my table. I had forgotten all about them and dreaded having to squeeze them in to my morning. A cup of coffee or two was in order and then down to business.
The first one was due at 10:00
I had just started on the second one and was getting ready to do the writing when the lady who ordered it showed up and asked if I could take one name off because that person wasn't going to be showing up. I told her she was just in time since I was just about to do the writing.
Gosh, these are BEAUTIFUL! I always like seeing your bakery art. I never would have guessed how crummy you were feeling. The first cake is so classy. And the second is just dreamy. I must go to bed immediately now before I eat all the sweets in the house...
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm starting to feel like they all look the same just different colors. I think I need to learn a few new tricks.
DeleteMy word, those are gorgeous! I love the rosebuds and the leaves - looks like delicate work.
ReplyDeleteThanks. When I first started doing these all those years ago I was so scared to do them. I've made plenty of mistakes over the years but that's how I learned...lol
DeleteThese both are really lovely and I know they were enjoy by all.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ~ FlowerLady
Those are beautiful...just almost too pretty to eat!
ReplyDeleteI love it when things like that happen. What luck!
ReplyDeleteThe cakes are lovely. You are certainly very good at your job, Ann!
Aww, thanks. I've had lots of practice.
Deletesorry you had to get up so early and decorate those cakes, but it was good news she got there in time to remove the name before you wrote it... you are so talented
ReplyDeletePretty results! Of course with your artistic nature, that's to be expected.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started doing these I stressed over each one. Now they are a piece of cake...lol
DeleteThat worked out well. Sometimes things just are timed right. This was.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day off, Ann. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥
That's for sure
DeleteVery impressive!!! I have no clue how people write so pretty on a cake. I tired to add writing one time and it was a train wreck!!! Very beautiful work Ann!
ReplyDeleteA lot of people have trouble writing on them.

DeleteNice...I can't make roses at all. HAHA...I know those days. I was up before five this morning with only 4 hours sleep last night. I was always like that when I worked before, could not go to sleep on Sunday night. Back to doing it again. Hope you got rest last night.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I struggled with making roses for the longest time, now they are easy.
DeleteGood job getting those done. And they are gorgeous. Have a wonderful evening.
ReplyDeletethank you
Deleteawesome and love hearing how your life in cake decorating has unfolded...thanks for sharing these two cakes...
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's been a long time since I did my first cake there. IT's hard to believe it's been over 20 years since I started working there
DeleteI'm so sorry about having to work when you didn't get enough sleep, but the cakes are gorgeous. It's impressive you can crank them out even when you are sleep-deprived.
ReplyDeleteOh well, such is life...lol
DeleteSometimes I think I can do my job in my sleep. After 20 some years I guess I should be able to
