Lake effect

I dread hearing those words and it seems like I've heard them way too many times already this winter .

It started on Sun Jan 11. I took this when I let Gibbs out the first time.

This was about an hour later

And when I let him in he was a spotted dog

  1. I've not heard this expression before. I assume it's like sleet!

  3. I understand why you don't like winter because yours are a bit harsh. We have only had a couple of snows and nothing much accumulated. Our winters are shorter and we don't have to deal with as much snow. Hang in there my friend.

  4. your is lake effect, others are polar vortex, both words I have read this morning on other blogs. it means it is COLD, so cold that is it leaking down here and making my walk with Beau FREEZING. I came home this morning with my fingers so cold I could not open Beaus harness. I had on a really thick sweater, a Tshirt and the orange sweatshirt hoody and a scarf... that is not Florida, but has been for 3 days, we do have bright son and it will go to 60 today and we only have 4 more days.. poor sweet Gibbs and you

  5. Sweet little Gibbs didn't seem to be bothered with the white spots. So pretty in your area, but I can only imagine how tiring the snow can become. Have a good one Ann

  6. Gibbs OMDs you are an artist just like your Mom.
Always remember don't eat yellow snow.
We had Dixie style snow yesterday....came down and melted as it hit the ground. BUT it rained most of the day before the temp dropped. So we have lots of black ice at wake up.
    But no where to go.
    Hugs to you and Mom

  9. We had dense fog this morning and now the sun is shining and its 48F. I am spoiled and think 48F is nippy.
Love the photo of polka dotted Gibbs.

  12. Ugh. I don't miss those words: lake effect. Or "wind chill." I'm sorry you are getting pummeled this winter.

  13. That's awful! Little dogs have an extra challenge when they go outside and adults too of course. I hope you can get someone to do the shoveling for you. This Saturday and Sunday we are supposed to get between 4 to 15 inches of snow, according to two weather places visited.

  14. I know we receive a bunch of the white stuff along with the wind and cold yesterday. We were not to have more than a half inch - got 3 inches in just a couple of hours. It was a blizzard out there. LOL - Hugs!
