Sit, stay, heal

May 21st was my first day back to work after having the heart cath done. I think that was the day that I came home to a sweet surprise in my mailbox.

I got one big envelope and inside was not one but two cards. This one was so cute and the dog reminds me of Gibbs.

There was also this beautiful pop up flower arrangement.
These came from Denise at An English Girl Rambles. Thank you so much Denise. This really brightened my day

Around the yard.

Another walk around the yard to see what's blooming or getting ready to bloom.

First up is the Lupine. I don't have much of this left but I still get some every year. This was one of those plants that I got from my dad.

I also got the iris from my dad.

The peony was a transplant from Wade's house when we first got married. No blooms yet but it won't be much longer.

These are the Japanese Iris. I got a little clump of these at a yard sale years ago. I now have them in two spots. This is next to my deck. I also have them under the tree in my back yard.

Frank's Farm Market

On my way to and from work every day I pass Frank's Farm Market. They have the most beautiful flowers. Inside they sell garden items and gifts, produce and fresh baked goods. It's a really nice place but they are very expensive. It's one of those places where I look but don't touch.

I do take home some pretty flower pictures though. You might be able to see the price on the one container. It's a beautiful arrangement and it is large but $229 is a bit much.

Before I left I took a picture of the building. I didn't notice the woman that was there looking right at me. I got home and saw the picture on my computer and the expression on her face is "why are you taking my picture. I thought it best to cover her face.

New door

I needed to have my front door replaced. It's a bit embarrassing to admit this but I went all winter long and my front door would not latch. I had a chair propped up under the door knob to keep it from popping open. I was going in and out through the basement door. The reason I waited so long was because of the weather. I couldn't exactly have the door replaced while it was freezing outside.

I had found a couple guys local who I actually knew that would do the job. I paid for the materials and I just needed to work out a day that both of us could do it. After I got home from the hospital I texted one of them and said that I would be home for the next two days if that was convenient for them. I got a reply that they would be there the following morning at 9:00am.

Unfortunately I didn't take any before pictures of the door with the chair under the doorknob. Here is after they were done. They did a fantastic job and not only does my door close and lock nicely now but it looks good. I have to say that they gave me a decent price as well. I'll definitely keep them in mind for any future jobs I have.

Cath day

Monday May 18th was the day that I had my heart cathetarization done. I had to be at the hospital at 5:45.

They got me all ready for the procedure.

IV all hooked up. Actually it was done twice. The nurse did it once and then said that it wasn't flowing well enough so she brought in a guy to redo it.
I got fancy jewelry, one to identify me, one to warn about my allergy to penicillin and the other proclaiming me a fall risk

and then we waited.

I think it was around 7:30 or so when they took me for the procedure. In my drug induced state it didn't seem to take very long. Afterwards I went back to the original room and we waited some more. The doctor came in to talk to us and we waited some more. It was early afternoon when we were finally able to leave. Amanda wanted to use the valet parking so we had front door service and no walking to get the car from a parking garage. I honestly felt like I could have driven myself but it was nice to have Amanda there to do the driving. Once home I spent the rest of the day napping on the couch.

Tiny Dancer

Sunday May 17th was Presley's dance recital. There were a total of 30 performances including the finale. She was in two of them plus the finale. I sat through watching a lot of kids who did an excellent job but it was the ones where Presley was dancing that I enjoyed the most.

Unfortunately my phone took lousy pictures but I had some pictures that I got from Amanda and a couple I took from my daughter in laws FB page. She is 3rd from the left in the first and 2nd from the left in the second picutre.

I did grab a picture of her afterwards but she was already changed out of her costume.

How about a couple of her professional photos that were taken.

We remember

Memorial Day always lands with a quieter weight than most holidays. It’s a day built on reflection more than celebration — a pause to acknowledge the men and women who never made it home, and the families whose lives were permanently reshaped by that sacrifice. However you spend the day — working, resting, grilling, or just trying to catch up on life — I hope there’s a moment of stillness in it, a moment to honor the people who gave up their ordinary days so we could have ours.

Fresh eggs

Amanda was visiting with her friend who's sister has chickens. She got a bunch of fresh eggs. Unwashed and not refrigerated. When I was at Amanda's house the one day she gave me some of the eggs.

I was a bit nervous about trying them. I don't know why because they are most likely safter than the ones I get int he grocery store. One morning I decided to scramble a couple of them for my breakfast.

Perfectly delicious.

Apparently as long as you do not wash the eggs they are good unrefrigerated for up to a month. Once you wash them though they need to go in the refrigerator.

Last week at work

Last week at work I had quite a lot of time by myself. I had the usual Monday while Beth was at the Bradford office. Then she left at 2:00 on Thursday and was off all day Friday. She took the time off because she was getting married on Saturday. No plans for a honeymoon so she was going to back in the office on Monday for me to be off for my procedure.

Any way, since I had the office to myself, I grabbed some more pictures. Beth has some Lego flowers on her desk.

This first one is the most recent one that she got.

Then I decided to do a little arts and craft project to leave a note for her when she came in on Monday

A short story

I was in the Ann cave one day and noticed movement out in my driveway. A neighbor cat had come to check things out in my yard.

And then he was gone.

Better late than never

I'm surprised I haven't gotten yelled at yet for not posting these. It may be a it late but these are the Mother's Day gifts I got from Amanda.

She gave me a gift bag stuffed with all kinds of goodies.

There was candy, cocoa and fairy garden treasures.

Pajama, a cute sign and 2 candles
One candle was a Yankee Candle Happy Mother's day
And the other was from Bath and Body Works. The scent was Backyard Honeysuckle
