Cath day

Monday May 18th was the day that I had my heart cathetarization done. I had to be at the hospital at 5:45.

They got me all ready for the procedure.

IV all hooked up. Actually it was done twice. The nurse did it once and then said that it wasn't flowing well enough so she brought in a guy to redo it.
I got fancy jewelry, one to identify me, one to warn about my allergy to penicillin and the other proclaiming me a fall risk

and then we waited.

I think it was around 7:30 or so when they took me for the procedure. In my drug induced state it didn't seem to take very long. Afterwards I went back to the original room and we waited some more. The doctor came in to talk to us and we waited some more. It was early afternoon when we were finally able to leave. Amanda wanted to use the valet parking so we had front door service and no walking to get the car from a parking garage. I honestly felt like I could have driven myself but it was nice to have Amanda there to do the driving. Once home I spent the rest of the day napping on the couch.

  5. My plans changed so I am blogging today after all. And wow, I would not have wanted to miss this post!! First, they didn't put your arm on a board to go home with? Where did they run the wire, in your leg? Were you concious? Why are you a fall risk? I am, too. They just put in one stent, right?

  6. When you get a certain age you're automatically a fall risk. I get the same band every time too. Glad it went well. I hope you get the results soon.

Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥

  8. I do love your fancy jewelry. Hubby has had a lot of the same kind too.
I'm allergic to Penicillin too. So glad there are alternatives.
Keep returning to full health and Happy Hump Day.

  9. Do you feel better and fully recovered now? Amanda was so good to stay with you, must have been very nice having her there for support. Smart getting the valet parking. Thanks for sharing all this. I'm sure it will help others who may be getting this procedure, now or anytime in the future. It's nice to know that they take care of you with those wrist band warnings for the medical team to take note of.
