If it isn't one thing it's another
I wonder if those gold finches are watching all the dollar bills that are flying out of my wallet. I've been on a bit of a self imposed spending freeze since the new roof went on. I've done very well and avoided most unnecessary spending.
Well yesterday I was driving home from work and noticed that the inspection sticker on my car ran out at the end of last month. I've been driving around for almost a month with an uninspected car. Thankfully the town cop I drove by didn't notice the expired sticker. So I get home and call the garage where I take my car for inspection and as luck would have it he has a cancellation and can do it right then. I dropped the car off, walked back home and waited for his call. I was not expecting to hear that my tires wouldn't pass and I need to buy new tires before he can pass my car. There go some more dollar bills out of my wallet.
Ok I'm doing whining now but seriously this is for the birds

Yep, happens all the time. You with tires/passing inspection. 'Round here it was redecorating the living room...get that done and no sooner spend big bucks there...the TV burns out.
Oh, crap...thanks for reminding me...the Pres was supposed to take his truck for inspection!!!..I do know what you're saying, there is always SOMETHING!!...:)JP
Move to KY. No car inspections and we have those beautiful Gold Finches which you beautifully captured. Of course you do need to be safe, but are you allowed to get a second opinion on the tires?
We had inspection for a few years, but it was too easy to bribe the attendants and they shut it down
Yep, we've gone through that recently. It seems to just pile up when we don't want anymore issues for a bit. This too will pass.
Have a fabulous day. My best to Duke. ♥♥♥
Yes but think of it this way - preventive medicine. Do you really want to be biz-bombing along the road and have your worn tires do something dreadful? And the results might cost you more than new tires? Safety first, m'lady! (Great photo, BTW)
We don't have inspection stickers so not sure what that is but if it's a reminder to make sure your car is up to snuff than it's good you have one! Your car isn't very old to need tires already or else you drive a lot!
Oh gosh, so sorry! But now you will be safer on good tires. Looks like there s a three way thing going on with the goldfinches, two boys both wanting this girl.
Glad you are safe with new tires .
I am so bad with the inspection sticker. I think I forget the renew month almost very year .
Aww that's a bummer! But good thing you didn't get a ticket too! Those birds are gorgeous! I haven't seen any of those at our feeder.
Hi Ann, welcome to my world. Since we purchased this house the money has been flying away. Everything we fix requires extra work and extra parts to make the old work with the new. Oh, but on the brighter side, we are loving it more every day and can not wait to be fully moved in.
Have a lovely weekend and fly your flag proudly :)
Your blogging sis, Connie :)
Yep...we've had three large expenditures lately as well...Back to the savings board!
Happy weekend!

I have found that it is easier to really get into the spirit of Paul Simon's Slip-Sliding Away song when one is actually slip-sliding away on bald tires. That might be just me, though.
I know what you mean! Just when things are going smoothly with our cars, the blower fan on my heat and air conditioning went out! Sometimes I wonder if riding around on a horse is the way to go?
Pretty, pretty birdies! It thrilled me to see your mention of me in the comment you left on the Happier Than a Pig in Mud site. You are truly a dear, dear friend. Putting up with the antics of my feeble-minded husband is baffling to me, though.
Hopefully those pretty finches don't eat you out of house and home! LOL!

Girl my dollar bills are flying out the window here too! I know just what you mean.
Ouch! I'm so glad that they don't require inspections here.
It's done now and the money has been spent. Get out in that car,put your windows and your roof down and let the wind blow through your hair ;-)
Oh Well---tis life!!!! I was watching a show on TV today talking about how much more different foods cost now than they did last year... GADS---when will it stop????
Sorry about the tires--but you do NOT want to get out on the road and have a blow-out (or flat tire)... That would be worse.
Hope today was a great day for you and the family. Happy Memorial Day to you.
Love your finches... I will do a birdie blog on Wed... Today I blogged about our latest trip.
Hugs,
Betsy
