Time flies...

...when you're having fun?   ...when you're procrastinating?  ...whether you like it or not?  Take you're pick.

I realized how fast time flies when I was hunting for a picture to use for this post. I went back to this day in 2011 and found these

I crocheted a bunch of these motifs with the intention of crocheting them all together to make a table runner. Me being me, I lost interest and moved on to something else leaving all of them in a basket that got buried in the craft room. Just a couple weeks ago I found them again and thought they might make a good backing for the felt roses I made recently. So they may actually have a purpose now. Unless of course I lose interest again and yet another plan falls short of completion. Maybe after 6 years of sitting around waiting to be used they should either go into a project or go to someone who might use them.

On my own

Or maybe I should say behind the scenes. Whichever way you phrase it, it boils down to the fact that I wanted to play along but not officially participate in the Three muses and Take a word challenges

For Three muses the theme was spring or autumn

For Take a Word the theme was wings in unexpected places

For both of these pictures I found the images I used on snappygoat.com
The spring picture was two pictures combined then a filter applied and finished off with text
The wings picture was again two pictures. I placed the picture of the wings on top of the picture of the woman, erased parts of the wings to  make it appear they were behind her and then added the text.

Every dogs dream

What dog wouldn't want his/her own automatic milk bone dispenser. I saw this on facebook yesterday and couldn't stop laughing.

Playing in the rain

And I didn't get the least bit wet. I did it all through the window.

I started taking pictures through the sliding glass door and I liked that I could focus on the raindrops on the glass instead of what was in the yard

After a couple of these I couldn't get it to focus on the raindrops any more so I went over and sat on the couch.
I pointed the camera at the sliding glass door again and I got this one.

I tried to get it to do that again but all I got was this.

I learned one thing from this last picture. After I looked at it on the camera I realized that the tablecloth is seriously crooked. I took care of that.

Where to look

If you want to know where to look to find happiness just open your eyes and look around. It's in the little things

The wind chimes swaying in the breeze

The wispy clouds against a beautiful blue sky

The sounds of water flowing down stream.

It's here and in a million different places if you only open your eyes and look

A pocket full of posies

Technically it's an empty pocket but it could be full of posies.

I cut the back pocket off of the jeans and then decorated it with various bits and bobs from my stash. Once it was done I added some wire to hang it. I think it would look nice with some flowers sticking out of the top.

Old blue jeans

A week or so ago Wade bought some new jeans for work and was going to throw out a few old pairs that had holes in them. I told him to save them because I had a plan.
Finally on my long weekend I got around to trying some things out. I completed 3 different projects. This first one you may have seen on facebook
I cut a piece of the leg off the jeans and brushed on some gesso. Once that was dry I started painting. I have a stash of bits and bobs that I went through and found the piece of muslin that I had stamped the "follow your dreams" on and I used some matte gel to adhere it to the painted denim. Once everything was dry I plopped it in a frame.

I'll show you another project tomorrow and then a third has to be mailed out and reach it's destination before I post it.

Take a word

A while back I came across a blog called Take A Word. I thought it would be fun to do the challenges. Well I never got around to doing any of them until just last week. I didn't link to the blog because I really didn't want to feel obligated to do the return visits that go along with doing that sort of thing. Maybe it's part of my anti-social personality or maybe it's because I don't feel like I have enough hours in the day as it is. Either way I chose to only show the picture here.
The theme for this week was birds.
And here it is in all it's glory.

Returning

I took off this past Sunday and Tuesday so that I could have a long weekend for my birthday. I didn't have any special plans and wasn't going to do anything exciting I just didn't want to have to go to work. So yesterday I had to return to work after 4 days off. I was kind of dreading it but had no choice.

This is what I walked in to find

Balloons and a box of chocolates. They came from a man who everyone in town knows and once he knows your birthday he NEVER forgets it. If you didn't know him you would probably think he was homeless. He just celebrated his birthday on the 17th and I had handed him a huge stack of birthday cards (I think it was 131) that I had collected for him. I provided the cards and just asked customers to sign them. A couple of the other girls pitched in and bought a few boxes of cards too. I found boxes of 12 for $1.88. Any way, when I gave him his cards and we sang happy birthday to him he came around the counter and gave me a big hug. I think the balloons and candy were his way of saying thank you as well wishing me a happy birthday. Either way he made returning to work much nicer.

Through the window

On Sunday I was looking out the window and spotted what looked like a birds nest in one of the trees. I'll have to keep an eye on this to see if it's going to be used.

It looks like a black and white photo but it was really just a very gray day.

The little bush that is by my front door was my next subject.

Yeah, not much excitement going on here.

In the garden

Spring has officially arrived but you can't tell by looking out the window. Since I had no garden to look at outside I played in the garden inside.

I met a lady tending the grape hyacinths.

Around the corner there was a large egg. I don't know what laid that but I was cautious not to disturb it.

Taking a step or two back you can see the garden is really my computer monitor and I set a box in front of it with some black poster board covering it.

Wind blown

Along with the snow that we got last week, we also had wind. Looking out an upstairs window into the yard, I liked the pattern that the wind made in the snow.

Then I thought wouldn't Gibbs look cute out there in the snow building himself a snowman

Cropped and changed the orientation

I don't know, but I think he looks like he might be a little suspicious of that snowman.

Isn't that special

If you follow my facebook page you may have seen this yesterday. Thursday at work I made 6 little desserts to put out right before I left for the day. Friday morning when I went in this is what I found

Someone pushed in the tops of all 6 desserts.Seriously? There was no saving them. They were trashed. I don't know if this was the work of an adult who is in need of some maturity lessons or an unattended child. Either way it really makes me mad. And then people complain about prices being too high. Well this is why. We have to cover the loss created by stupid people.
What's even better is that these are in a case that is right in front of the deli. It would have been nice if a deli person would have been paying attention to what was going on.

The wearing of the green

The dress code at work calls for black or khaki pants and black or white shirts. I'm sure that I could get away with wearing a green shirt for the day but I don't have one.

In honor of St. Patrick's Day I made myself a shamrock to pin to my apron.

No sense in me being the only one wearing one so I made one for each of the girls at work too.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
May the leprechauns be near you,
To spread luck along your way.
And may all the Irish angels,
Smile upon you St. Patrick's Day.

I hope that's the end

If you read my post yesterday it was pretty obvious that we got that winter storm I was talking about. I don't know the total accumulation but it was more than enough. Not only was it snowing like crazy but the winds were something else as well. I'm so ready to move in to spring.

This was taken out my living room window while it was coming down.

Oh and that truck from yesterday's post was gone when I got to work yesterday morning. I don't know how he got out but I sure wish I could have watched that.

The cost of stupidity

Over the years there have been plenty of people who have used our parking lot at work to meet for the purposes of car pooling. It's never been a problem and people either park to the back of the parking lot or the area designated for employee parking.

There is one individual who isn't too bright or maybe just doesn't care. He has a couple times, parked his truck in a direct line down from our loading dock doors. I'm pretty sure they have left notes on his windshield that he is not permitted to park there and told him why.

Well yesterday we got that snow storm that we were expecting and when I get to work there is his truck. No delivery trucks will be able to back up to the door because of where he's parked. I was standing on the dock and took this picture straight out the door.  Notice the semi which is unable to back up to the door to unload. You may also notice how high the snow appears to be around his truck. That would be because my boss gave the go ahead to the people who plow the parking lot to plow him in. This may seem rather cruel but he could have had him towed instead.

In this one I drew a yellow line so you could see how high up the snow is in front of and in back of the truck.

Now lets go around to the drivers side of the truck and see how much fun the guys plowing had

I wish I could have been there to see the look on this guys face when he came to pick up his truck.  If he's got an ounce of brains he'll remember this and not park there in the future.

Mary Mary quite contrary

How does your garden grow?

With felt and glue

Paper and markers too

And an edit for good measure.

Mother Goose's version
Mary, Mary, quite contrary
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockleshells
And pretty maids all in a row.

Did I forget something?

Why yes, yes I did. I forgot to do a post. Actually it wasn't really forgetting. It was more like procrastinating.

So here it is 6 hours later than when my posts usually go up and I'm flying by the seat of my pants wondering what this will turn in to.

Here's an old picture of snow and I can tell you that we are expecting a snow storm to start later today. I hear it could dump up to a foot of snow on us. I'm hoping they are wrong.

So now I plan on spending the rest of the day being totally lazy and doing pretty much nothing. Oh my but I lead an exciting life.

On such a winter's day

It was Cold (with a capital C) yesterday. When I headed out to do the weekly shopping it was a whopping 16 degrees. So what do you do when it's that cold? Well I certainly didn't go out for a walk. I stayed in the house and took pictures of nothing in particular.

I took lots through the window of the bare tree

Then I took a couple of the basket of silk flowers hanging on the wall in the craft room

Then I decided to play around with it a bit.

When I was done with that I said "Hey I can use this stuff for a post"  The song that popped in to my head and helped me with the post title California Dreamin'

And my complaint for the day is that I lost an hour sleep this morning and I'm going to work extra tired. Need more coffee.

Playing with fire

Last night  for lack of something better to do, I played with the camera. I was trying to get a good picture of a candle flame. It wasn't working out the way I wanted.

Either the flash went off and it looked like this

Or no flash and the flame just looked like a bright blurry blob.

I played with different settings including the manual setting. Still haven't got everything figured out yet but that's ok. More excuse to keep playing.

Running on empty

Maybe I should just not post when I don't have anything but I hate to skip it.  That's why today you get a picture of Walmart's coke display

And a youtube video of the song I thought of when I wrote that title.

When in doubt

Go with your ace in the hole

I came across a post on facebook yesterday. It was What not to wear after age 50.
This was not what I was expecting but it was even better. It is definitely worth the read if you've got a couple of minutes.

Changing

Sometimes change can be hard. It can also be good and often times necessary. For example it was necessary yesterday morning to change from my pajamas to my work clothes. While necessary it wasn't at all pleasant. Not only did I not want to get up and get dressed but the pilot light had gone out in the furnace over night and it was rather chilly. Wade asked me how I knew and I told him the first clue was the cold air that was blowing out of the registers. All is good now because the pilot light has been relit and wonderfully warm air is keeping me nice and toasty.

There was a change on Monday as well that was over due. I still had this cute snowman along with some other winter related decorations sitting on my dining room table

Just because the weather refuses to give up on winter doesn't mean I have to go along with it. It was time to change to something else. With the help of a few dollar store items my table is now dressed for St. Patrick's Day. This will hold me over until I pull out some Easter things.

Why I have nothing to blog about

I really have nothing exciting to blog about but I do have excuses. First it's been cold again. Sunday morning when I went to work it was only 16 degrees.

Cold weather means I do a lot of sitting on the couch with tv and coffee

If the camera is in reach I might also take a picture or two of Gibbs. He's ok with it so long as he doesn't really know I'm taking his picture.

Then of course there's pizza. We had pizza for dinner because neither of us felt like cooking.

Have I mentioned that my diet hasn't been going so good lately?  SIGH, I need warm weather to get back in to gear.

Unprepared.

I missed one day due to lack of material and I knew I couldn't go two days in a row without posting. The dilemma was what to use. I had nothing prepared and nothing very interesting. Then it hit me. I remembered a picture I found on a memory card that was rather old. According to the file it was taken on May 25, 2015. When I first saw it I had to laugh because it was just that cute.

I hope it puts a smile on your face too. I think it will
