Just because

Just because I'm running low on material I thought I would take a look back at previous years. Of course being that it's not every year that you have a February 29th I went with the 28th.

On 2/28/2019
No picture but I had a dead battery and ended up having to get a new one.

On 2/28/2018
I posted this just because card that I made.

On 2/28/2017
The weather was a lot milder than it is this year. As a matter of fact it was rather spring like. Right now we are in the middle of a winter weather watch but so far it hasn't been as bad as predicted. I won't be out taking pictures of Gibbs this year

Then on 2/29/2016 the last time we had a leap year, I posted a teaser asking if anyone could guess what I was making.
This was the picture I posted.

If you were with me back then can you remember what it was? If not here's the picture I posted the next day.

Depending on how ambitious I am today, I may or may not have something new to post tomorrow.

For lack of something better.

Since I don't really have anything to post about and I don't want to say we have more snow again, I'm going to talk about the wreath I posted yesterday.

Ginny asked a few questions about it so I'll answer those here today. All items were purchased from Dollar Tree except for the bow I put on the top of the wreath. All the pictures today were taken from Dollar Trees website to show the products I used.

I started with a  wire wreath form like this one.

I purchased three scarves like the ones in the picture only they were a St. Patricks day themed scarf. I just wrapped these around the wreath form tieing the ends of them together and tucking the knots in.

I purchased a decoration similar to this one only it was in two pieces. There was the glittery outside piece and then the one you saw in the center of my wreath was the center. I took the two pieces apart and then glued a piece of a branch to it to make a stem on the shamrock.

The other thing I purchased from Dollar Tree which I couldn't find a picture for was a bag of the glittery gold coins and shamrocks. I just hot glued those around the wreath and then I made a bow and glued that to the top.

Hangin'

On my front door there's a new wreath. Would you believe I just took down the Christmas wreath to put this one up.

All the items used to make this came from Dollar Tree.

A Dollar Tree craft project

I joined a Dollar Tree Cricut craft group on Facebook and I have found so many awesome ideas. How people come up with some of the ideas, I'll never know. I can copy what they do but I can't come up with the ideas myself.

There have been a lot of projects using these foam dice found in the toy department at Dollar Tree.

I painted them with chalk paint like so many others had said they had done. Then I dry brushed the edges with black to give them a worn look. I may have gone a little heavy in some spots but it's just for me so all is good. Any way then I had to decided what word I wanted to put on them. Since I'm decorating for St. Patrick's Day right now I chose luck and I used a shamrock in place of the u

Mother daughter day

Amanada and I had a nice afternoon on Saturday. We made hamburger soup and cheddar garlic biscuits for lunch and then went out and did a little window shopping. There's a new store that is in  a close by town that Amanda used to shop at when she lived in Colorado Springs. It's called Gordmans and we walked around in there for a bit.  While we were there Amanda spotted this mug and took the picture so I would have blog material.

Monday for my day off was a mixture of a little cleaning, a little crafting and a little lounging. I found this on Facebook and thought it was perfect.

I did actually do a load of laundry too.

Monday Monday

I am so happy it's Monday. You don't hear that very often do you? My plan for the day is to stay home all day and hopefully get a little of this and a litte of that done. Don't know if I'll succeed or not but that's ok too.

Since I didn't upload the picture that I was going to share with you today I'm giving you a super cute Presley picture.

Are those pig tails not the absolute cutest?

Thank you for your prayers

I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers for my sister in law. She has gone through so much over the years. She lost her youngest daughter several years ago and then her husband (my brother) passed away in 2014. Just last week she had to have her senior dog put down and then this, total loss of her home. The house she lived in was built by my brother.

I found this picture on Facebook of the house fully engulfed in flames.

Next to the back deck and very close to the house was her daughters statue of an angel. I still stands virtually untouched.

Mary's daughter started a go fund me page and within 9 hours had exceeded her original goal. I know there is a long road ahead for her but she has always been one of the strongest people I know and with the love and support from her friends and family I know she will make it through.

On another note, I'll be hanging out with my daughter today and don't know if I'll get around to doing a post for tomorrow. If you don't see me tomorrow, I'll be back on Monday.

There are no words

Yesterday shortly before the end of my work shift I got word that my sister in laws house was on fire. By the time I got there it was totally gone. Needless to say she is devastated. As of now they don't know what caused the fire. One fireman had said that when they got there flames were coming out the roof and when they looked inside they could see that the entire first floor was gone which told them that the fire started in the basement.

I am at a total loss as to what I can do for her. Please keep her in your thoughts and send prayers to get her through this.

Subbing

I'm subbing for the old girl today since she had some whiney excuse about being too tired after work. I don't mind though because I'm sure you would rather see my adorable face than anything she could possibly show you.

Just take those old records off the shelf

Or if you don't have any you can go buy some new ones at Walmart. While strolling through the store recently I saw their display of vinyl records and turtables.

I wonder if these have different speed options like they did back in the day. When I was growing up we had all three in our house. 33, 45 and 78.

Real life

Today I have a screen shot of a text conversation I had with my son. At the top you'll see "she's behaving" and a picture of a doll. That was from Sunday night. I sent that after they left and I found Presley's doll. Underneath the doll is the text conversation I had with him on Monday morning.

Lookin' good

Gibbs is feeling fine and looking good

Just a quick cell phone picture of prince charming. I spent my whole morning waiting on him to be done then when I got back home I divided my time between chores, napping and watching tv. It was super cold and a perfect day for laying on the couch under a blanket.

This is the post...

...that would have published yesterday if it hadn't been Valentines Day.

Thursday I decided that I was going to make cupcakes to take to work on Friday for Valentines Day. The more I thought about going home after work and baking the more I thought it sounded like a good idea to buy the stuff and bake them at work. I don't have a picture of the finished cupcakes because I totally forgot to take one. I do however have a picture of one of the cupcakes after it came out of the oven. Would you say these were baked with love?

When I was finished for the day I headed out to my car to go home. I had to stop and take a picture. Now you all know how much I feel about snow but even as much as I hate it I can't deny how pretty it looked.  I don't think the picture really does it justice though.

Happy Valentines Day.

I'm sending you all love, kisses and Valentine wishes.

I did a little decorating for the occasion. This is on top of my fake fire place

And a closer look

A little more on my hutch

And my jars filled with sweets are ready and waiting to pass out on Sunday when we have this months family dinner.

Before I leave I have to mention that today would have been my dads 97th birthday. So I wish my dad a happy birthday in heaven.

This blog is going to the dogs

And of course first up is the resident king himself.

This is an old picture and although he doesn't look too scraggly right now he does have a spa day scheduled for this Saturday.

Next up is the predecessor Duke. He was such a sweetheart and always so good about me getting pictures of him

Then there is cabbage dog

A puppy that my son had a long time ago

And finally a random dog I spotted while we were at an outdoor concert one time

No title comes to mind.

I've got nothing new today so I dug up an old picture of my snowy back yard.

Piece of cake

Sunday I had two cakes to do when I got to work.

The first was a half sheet and they just wanted a white border and blue balloons along with the writing. I already had it in the container when I remembered to take the picture.

The other one was a quarter sheet cake and they wanted a brown border and brown flowers.

Who gets the last word

Old man winter has sort of been slacking this year. We haven't seen much in the way of snow which I'm perfectly happy with. All it took was for Phil to predict an early spring and Winter stepped up to the plate and hit a home run.

The snow started Friday night and kept up most of Saturday morning. Since I had to get out Saturday afternoon I needed to shovel.

Those piles of snow at the end of driveway look rather small in the picture to me. Let me tell you though, after shoveling this I went in the house and took a nap.If that wasn't enough all day Sunday I was feeling achy and tired. I'm just getting too old for this stuff.

A lot of poppycock

As promised todays post contains the sentences created by you using the words that were in the list below

Ginny Hartzler said...
I call a lot of things a WHASIT, a THINGAMAJIG, or a WHATCHAMACALLIT because I can't remember their name.
Anni said...
Okay...you asked for it.

The DINGLEBERRY in the White House is full of POPPYCOCK.
Sandra said...
I am totally flabbergasted at this post. You are up to shenanigans again. I am Gobsmacked, truly Gobsmacked plus I am on tenterhooks waiting for the rest of this story.
ha ha Annie
Rose said...
I am flabbergasted that you think a young whippersnapper like him could fix that whatchmacallit--the instructions are so full of gobbledygook that they have me flummoxed.
CheerfulMonk said...
I am gobsmacked to see that people believe that flibbertigibbet's codswallop.
NanaDiana said...
At first I was flummoxed by the list but then I realized that it was all malarky anyway. Who knew that a whippersnapper could cause such a kerfuffle and make things go all cattywampus? What a bunch of malarkey!!!

Betsy Banks Adams said...
Waking up not feeling like a young whippersnapper made me want something other than my usual tasteless whatchamacallit stuff but then, I ate some delicious Pumpernickel ..... What a bunch of malarkey this is!!!!!! ha ha ha

Just for fun

Thanks to Pam, I have something for a post today. I saw this on her Facebook page and thought this could be fun.
So here's what we're going to do. In your comment leave a sentence using the words in the list. Then tomorrow I will put all the sentences together for crazy kind of post.

I'll start by making the first sentence.

I've been feeling a bit discombobulated lately which could explain why I tend to lollygag.

My hearts too big

I was working on more of the Valentines jar and thought I had a good enough memory that I didn't need to remeasure the lids before I cut more hearts. Turns out I was wrong. I now have all these hearts that are too big for the jar lids

I should learn to not trust my memory but I keep forgetting.

Time travel

I thought for today I would travel back to this date (or close to it) in...

2019
I took this fun selfie getting ready for Valentines Day

2018
I was working on making Valentine treats for friends at work

2017
I was making a candy bouquet for Wade for Valentines Day

2016
Wade and I had gone out to eat at a local restaurant and I felt the need to take a picture of the salt and pepper shakers. If that wasn't bad enough I had to do a fancy schmancy edit on the picture.

2015
It was obviously pretty cold since we had icicles hanging off the roof. Thankfully there have been no icicles hanging so far this winter. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

I just don't get it.

When I went to the mailbox the other day, to my surprise, there was a jury summons. AGAIN. I say again because even though I don't know the exact number I would say it's at least a dozen of them that I have gotten over the years. The last one was just last year and I was able to get a medical release since I didn't have my hearing aids yet and wouldn't be able to hear what was going on. To make matters worse, my date to appear is March 20th. That is the day before my birthday. I was planning on taking a long weekend and do something fun for me. Jury duty was not on the list of possible activities.

In any other random drawing, especially if a prize is involved, I would never get picked. Yet when it comes to jury duty I have been repeatedly chosen. I think it's time they pick on someone else.

Maybe I should sick Gibbs on them.

This is an old picture of him. He's not quite that shaggy right now.

On a side note, before scheduling this post I did a spell check and for some reason it doesn't care for my spelling of the word prize. Suggestions for correction were Price, price, pries, prized Perice.

I love Dollar Tree

To some people Dollar Tree is a store filled with cheap junk that isn't worth much of anything. To me it's a gold mine. I belong to a Facebook group that is for Dollar Tree and Cricut crafts. Between that group and Pinterest I have so many ideas for projects it's not even funny. The best part is that the items you need are only $1. The down side is that all these project ideas are out there on the internet and everyone is flocking to Dollar Tree and cleaning the shelves of the latest and greatest crafting rage so it can be tricky to find things.

Moving on, I recently bought these cute little jars. They're plastic and only about 3" high.

Perfect for making cute little gifts for Valentines Day.

I cut the heart for the lid and the words for the front of the jar on my Cricut machine. I stuffed some tissue paper inside so the words would show up better and also to partially fill the jar so that I didn't have to fill it completely with the Hershey kisses. I'm cheap and since I'm doing several of these I wanted the bag of kisses to stretch.

I have some different sayings to put on these so they won't all be exactly alike. When I do more I'll post another picture.
