Can you guess?

Today is the last day of the month so I technically have till the end of the day to finish off my monthly craft project.
Since I have nothing else to offer today I'll see if anyone can guess what my project was. Sandra knows since I showed her and anyone who follows me on instagram may have seen it there.

These two items were used
There were a few other items as well but these were the two main ingredients for what I cooked up :)

So what's your guess?

I'll show you what it was and how many tomorrow

Friday, February 26, 2016

Yep

Thank goodness it's Friday

As I go through the work day I'll be praying for the strength to refrain from high fiving anyone.

Since it's almost the end of the month and I need to get busy on my craft project, I may be taking the weekend off from the blog. I'll see  you all on Monday unless I change my mind

This one is a perfect fit for me

It only takes a few seconds

A few seconds of Gibbs standing still is all it takes to get a picture but do you think he'll cooperate? I lucked out last Saturday. I had him out in the back and I don't know if he was looking at me or something else but he was still long enough for me to get this picture

I know it's not close enough to see him in all his cuteness. How about if we crop it in a bit closer.

That's better but the blue tie out cable doesn't look so good. Unfortunately it's a necessity since Mr Gibbs loves to run. On the few occasions when he has escaped he heads right for the road and luckily it hasn't been times when someone was flying down the street. Since this is just a picture I think it would be safe to remove that cable.

How about some black and white.

OK Gibbs, thanks for your participation, You can go play now.

And finally the card for the day

Sometimes I really hate being a responsible adult

It's what keeps me from calling off and staying home to play in my craft room

Fire and Ice

Or just the fire and some jokes.

What do you call a doll on fire?
A Barbie-Q

A fireman had two sons. What did he name them?

Hosea and Hoseb

I know I shouldn't play with fire but the above picture cried out for black and white with color

And one final joke

What did the fireman say when the church caught on fire?

Holy Smoke!!!

Timber!

This tree sits just outside of our property. You can't tell so much from the picture but it's mostly dead. Pieces of it have fell off several times and we are always the ones to clean it up.

When I went to let Gibbs out Saturday morning it was still dark but I could see that there was a very large piece of the tree laying across the top of the shed.

Once it was light out I was able to see that it wasn't actually on top of the shed and didn't even cause any damage. It sure did make a big mess though. There are pieces of broken branches all over the place.

A reason for everythin

I've heard there is a reason for everything but I'm finding it hard to come up with a good reason why Gibbs felt it was necessary to wake me up at 4:20 this morning. OK so I'll give him the fact that he may have thought my alarm didn't go off and I would be late if he didn't wake me but it's not like it's the first time ever that I haven't had an alarm set.

Maybe it was because I didn't schedule a post last night and he thought it was important that I get up and take care of that. So after coffee and a little digging through the archives I have something that might be presentable.

Since I'm sick of looking at snow and all things winter I dug up a few pictures that said spring and or summer to me

Maybe once the sun comes up I'll go out and take pictures of the huge tree limb that is now laying on top of our shed.

So many possibilities

Duct tape is so versatile and yet...

The red strip on the left of this card is actually duct tape. It's come a long way since the plain old silver stuff.

Thanks to Anni

While visiting Hootin'Anni's blog the other day, I followed a link she gave for Photo Funia. I did a little playing around and thanks to Anni, have a picture for a blog post

I believe this was a watercolor effect

And of course I have another index card

This one is pretty true. I used to be bothered by someone not liking me but then I realized that I don't like everyone so why should everyone like me.

What the fluff

I try not to talk about people I work with on my blog because it's just best not to. However to give you background on today's story I kind of have to. Without using any names of course.

Most of you know that I work in a grocery store and I am the baker. The bakery department is a combined area with the deli. One of the deli girls was telling me that she had asked to make oreo fluff but was told she wasn't allowed to. Now since I am the bakery manager and no one ever tells me what I can or can't do I said I would make it for the bakery. If it sells great, if not I just won't make it again. That was about 2 weeks ago when I made it the first time. Since then I have made it at least 3 times a week.

It may not look like much in the picture but it is pretty tasty.

How do I make it?
One package of cream cheese gets mixed with one can of sweetened condensed milk. I use the hand mixer because I don't have the patience to wait for the cream cheese to get really soft and this gets all the little cream cheese clumps out. Then you  mix in 16 ounces of cool whip. Finally stir in a package of crushed up Oreos and it's done. To keep the cost down a bit I don't use the real oreos. I use our store brand cookies that are called duos but they're just like an oreo

And now for the index card of the day

It took me all day...

...to do nothing.  I spent a whole lot of time on the computer trying to find some inspiration for a craft project. I still haven't come up with one for February.  I guess you could say I was doing research.

Now it's Tuesday which to me always feels like a Monday and this index card pretty much sums it up for me today.

Happy Valentines Day

I'm not much for mush so you won't find any sappy sentiments on today's index card

We're not much on celebrating Valentine's around here but I do hope that whatever you choose to do you have a great day.

On a side not my father was born on Valentine's Day and he would have been 93 today.

On another side note, the other day Sharla asked if on the mornings when I don't have to set the alarm if I wake up early. Yes, I do. Normally I get up at 4:20 and on my days off I usually wake up sometime right around there. Most of the time I try and go back to sleep for a little while. The latest I ever sleep in is 6:00

Second verse same as the first

Friday morning when I left for work my phone said that it was 9 degrees and my car said 10. I say it doesn't matter what the number is, it's too darn cold

After work, Wade was reading the forecast on his phone and it said that we were going to be getting more snow. Up to 15 inches by Sunday morning. Friday night it started. I took this picture out my back door

Then I did a little edit on it.

I'll be hibernating all day

The real deal

It's Friday and this time it's the real deal. I'm not just messing up the calendar this time. Tomorrow morning I can sleep in and I don't have to hear that rude and obnoxious alarm going off.

I'm thinking maybe it's time I change things up a little with my posts. I mean I've been doing nothing but my index cards for quite a while now and even though I enjoy making them, I'm kind of boring myself by posting them 5 days a week.  Of course then I'm faced with the dilemma of what to post if I don't show the cards. I know you would all like to see more Gibbs but he honestly just does not cooperate with the camera. You would be seeing a lot of blurs and the top of his head or his butt.

Today's card does not impress me at all. I was going for a Valentine's theme and although it fits that category, it's really just rather lame. I ended up doing another one for Valentine's Day which I'll put up on Sunday. For today though, I'm afraid this is all there is.

what a let down

I was driving home from work yesterday having a conversation in my head about what I needed to buy the next day. Because the weather is supposed to be very cold on Saturday I won't be wanting to go out shopping so I need to get it after work tomorrow. The problem with this was that the tomorrow I was thinking about in my head was Friday and the real tomorrow was Thursday. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I still had 2 more work days to go before Saturday and a day of hibernation. Bummer.

And here is the card for the day

"I don't want more snow" she said...

..."Tough luck" said the weather man "You're getting it"

I know I shouldn't complain because with the exception of one really bad snow storm, this winter hasn't been all that bad. I sit here tucked in all warm and comfy and don't mind it so much. It's that reality of going out the front door and having to clean snow off the car and freeze my butt off waiting for the heater to stop blowing cold air on me. Oh well, such is life in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Guilt Free

I had a totally wonderful guilt free kind of day yesterday. I spent half the day in my pajamas doing next to nothing. I watched a little tv, I read a little, I played a few games on my kindle and I played with some paint in my craft room. Just so I could say that I did something productive I did the dishes and made dinner.

Today's card may not be the nicest but when I saw this saying I totally cracked up and couldn't help using it.

The result of procrastination

In January we were back at our monthly craft project. After taking December off I had a bit of hard time getting back in to it. It took me till half way through the month to even decide on what I wanted to make. I finally chose a very simple project and only worked on it for two days.

These are fabric tissue holders for the purse size packs of tissues. I managed to make 12 of them total

I had planned on making quite a few more of these but procrastination seemed to be the theme for the month. It's apparently carrying over in to February too because I have yet to decide on what my craft project for this month will be.

I wonder what grit that would be

Yesterday I didn't sit around for too long trying to decide what to do with my day. Wade's daughter and her family were coming over so that pretty much decided it for me. I had to get moving and get the house cleaned up. But now come Monday I have all the housework done so I can sit around doing nothing guilt free.-+

So who will be watching the Superbowl tonight? It will be on and Wade will be watching but I'm not much of a football fan so I'll be off doing other things.

Saturday, February 6, 2016

I love Saturday.

I actually love any day that I don't have to listen to the alarm clock waking me up. There's something heavenly about waking up naturally unless of course it's in the middle of the night and then you can't fall back asleep. That's a whole other post though

What shall I do today? So many possibilities. Perhaps I'll sit in my pajamas for a while and contemplate my options.

While I'm deciding here are a few more index cards for you to look at. This will catch me up and tomorrow you'll be back to the current card.

Left was more playing in paint
Right was an aluminum foil background.

Left was more sewing on paper and then some stamping
Right just doodles then coloring with colored pencils

Peachy

Yep, I believe I had a peachy day yesterday but I'm not absolutely sure since it's all fuzzy. I suppose it could have been a ducky day because I did quack myself up a time or two.

Are you all done groaning yet? And Jerry enough of the booing and hissing :)

A week or so ago, I'm not exactly sure when since the days all blend together anymore, I happened to look out the back door. The lights were on the back of the doctors office behind us and I liked the shadows on the snow. Of course the picture is kind of crap because I took it with the cell phone but you get the idea

A couple more index cards to try and catch up a little bit. I realized after posting yesterday's picture that I had already shown one of those cards. Sorry about the repeat.
Not much to say about the card on the left. It was a combination of paint and ink. The one on the right I pulled out the sewing machine and did some sewing on paper. I stitched different pieces of paper together and then glued them to the card.

I'm back

At least I hope so. Hopefully this month will not bring any surprises like last month did. We did call the cable company and although their highest speed package is cheaper than what we are paying now, their installation fee is almost $300. Occasionally they send offers in the mail for free installation so if we make the switch to cable for our internet it will be then.

So what have I been doing while I've been gone? Not much and certainly not anything that's exciting to write about. I did a lot of laying on the couch watching tv and reading.

I've gotten way behind on showing you index cards so today I'll catch you up a little with three of them.

Starting at the far left, I had a lot of fun with paint on this one. I started by covering the card with book pages and bits and pieces of magazine pages then I covered it in paint. The little tiny squares you see were made using drywall tape as a stencil. The circles were made using various sized caps dipped in paint and the black lines were done with a comb.

The middle one I painted then added bit of paint here and there and ran a comb through it in different directions. It gave it a very nice distressed look.

The one on the right was inked just a week bit with some stencils then I added the butterfly and flower stickers.
