Need a change

Life has become very humdrum. I go to work, I come home, I avoid housework and hobbies, I go to bed, get up the next day and start the routine all over again. I need to give myself a kick in the butt to just start doing things but I don't feel like even doing that.

I think spring could help with that. It looks like spring might be peeking around the corner. The temperatures were a little warmer, the sun was shining and I even saw signs of life in my yard.

Blue sky makes me happy even if there are clouds.

Forsythia buds make me happy

It's kind of a shame that it can't stay this color all year long.

Then Monday rolled around. The temperature dropped and my blue sky went away.

I haven't been very good about responding to comments lately either. If you are one that goes back and checks to see if I replied to your comment I'm sorry I've been so slow.

I got nothing

I spent the entire day off trying to find some motivation. I've got none of that and I've got no ideas for a post.

I did see a male and a female cardinal land in the tree in my front yard. They stayed a while before flying off but I didn't bother to try and get the camera. I knew they would be gone before I got back.

Time to dig through the archives and give you a Gibbs fix

All in a days work

So things have slowed way down at work. I don't know if it's because of the latest stay at home order, the fact that people are totally stocked up on food or because it's the end of the month and people are out of money. Whatever the reason is, it's left us with a new problem. We've ordered for mad rush we were getting. Most of my product is frozen so it will keep until I get around to using it. Our produce and meat department don't have that same luxury. I imagine those two departments might be running some in store specials.

Any way, I had a cake order to do yesterday. I haven't had one of those in quite a while. It was just a quarter sheet cake and those are always quick and easy for me. They asked for blues and greens.

Nothing up my sleeve

So maybe I can pull a rabbit out of my hat and find something to blog about today. I'm kind of winging it at the moment.

Hold on one minute while I go check the folders for blog fodder.

Well look at that. I was able to pull a rabbit out of my hat

I made this one years ago. The base is a plastic bottle and I don't remember exactly how I made it but I do recall it being a pain in the butt and I almost gave up. He's looking a little on the sad side these days but I let him out of the box for Easter.

Here comes Peter Cotton tail

And he has his brother with him too.

This is an edit of a picture I took of a few of my Easter decorations.

A matter of balance

It's nice to have balance in your life. Being off for four days and being bored out of my mind gave me a greater appreciation for the fact that I can still go to work and I have a job to go to. Going back to work gave me a greater appreciation for having a home to go to where I can lounge on the couch and do nothing.

Back to work

So it's back to work for me today. I'm anticipating a busy day since I'll have some catching up to do on things I haven't done for the last 4 days. Gibbs will not be pleased that I'm going back to work today.

I didn't spend my last day off being very ambitious but I did play in the craft room just a little. I downloaded a free cut file from Simply crafty SVGs. It was for their tulip trio card.

This folds flat to fit in an envelop and the finished size is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

The original project has 3 different colored tulips but I chose to do all three the same because it was less loading paper into the cricut machine.

I decided to run the green strips through my embossing machine and then highlighted the embossed areas with a green stamp pad.

By changing the sentiment, this card would be good for Easter, Mother's day, birthday or just about any occasion.

How bored are you?

I am so bored that I even cooked a boring breakfast. Allow me to eggs plain.

I am so bored that I was making obscence statements in American sign language. That's what happens when I'm left to my own deaf vices.

I am so bored that I made a gif from really bad cell phone pictures of Gibbs.

I think the worst part is that there are plenty of things that I can do but I don't want to do any of them. I could have used this time wisely but instead I watched obscene amounts of tv and napped a lot. I think I'm almost glad that I have to go to work tomorrow.

A tisket a tasket

I made a little paper basket. This was a free cut file from Simply Crafty SVGs

This has got to be the most boring long weekend ever. I wish I could say I've been putting the time to good use but so far that's not happening. I've watched a lot of tv and spent a lot of time on the computer. I did go to my daughters yesterday since she invited me over for dinner.

#58

It's kind of hard to believe that I'm celebrating my 58th birthday already. There are days when I don't feel like it's possible that I'm this old already and then there are days that I wonder if I'm not even older than that.

1967

So I decided to take a long weekend for my birthday. I planned on taking Friday and Sunday as vacation days and with my Saturday and Monday regular days off that would give me 4 days. Then the jury summons came in the mail. I requested off Friday for jury duty and Sunday as vacation day. Then the virus happened and all jury duty was cancelled but I still had the day off. Friday morning as I'm drinking my coffee I get a call asking if I would want to come in to work for a while. I figured why not. I can't go anywhere else so it's either go to work or stay home and clean.

2020

So I have 3 more days off and have no clue what I'm going to do with myself. I could plan on doing some cleaning since I seem to keep putting it off but I doubt I'll accomplish much. Had I known that everything was going to be shutting down I don't know if I would have taken the vacation day. On the bright side it will be really nice to sleep in tomorrow morning.

Grace, if you are reading this I want to thank you for putting a little sparkle in my day with the lovely birthday card. You know I love that glitter. I tried to send you and email but the contact has disappeared from my list and I couldn't find you on Facebook either.

Busy busy

Some may know and some may not but I work in a small independantly owned grocery store. I'm the store bakery manager (among other duties). Since this whole carona virus things started and people wre going crazy running to the stores and cleaning out the shelves, our store has gotten a little busier. Once the Walmarts were cleared out people started filtering out to smaller stores. Since that started we have been swamped. We are all doing our best to keep things stocked but they are buying things faster than we can get them out. I got home from work last night and I was done for. Dinner, a little lounging and a quick post and I'm calling it a night.

Quick and cute.

Last Friday I stopped at Walmart after work. I picked up a plain pink shirt and a cute pair of springy looking leggins for Presley. I also bought a package of pop poms.

Saturday I got busy and cut a bunny shape from glitter iron on vinyl and added it to the shirt. Then I sewed a pom pom to it for a little bunny tail.

I wanted to have it ready for Sunday since that was our monthly family dinner. That was why I didn't post on Monday. I was spending the evening visiting with my kids and my sister in law joined us this time too.

Happy St. Patricks Day

I think we can all use a little lucky charm today

I'm wishing you a pot of gold and all the joy your heart can hold.

Where's the fire?

It's in Chicago. It's also been in my living room because all that binge watching I've been doing has been Chicago Fire.

The only local channel I can't get with my antenna is NBC and that's the channel Chicago Fire is on. I do have the NBC app on the fire stick and I can watch recently unlocked shows but of course I have to wait in between episodes. Lucky for me the show is available on an amazon channel. After falling in love with it when I watched recently unlocked episodes I decided to start from the beginning of the series. There is also Chicago Med and Chicago PD but Fire is my favorite.

Checking in

A quick post today to let everyone know that all is well here. My absence was due to being overly tired and being hit with sinus headaches. Thursday night I spent the evening napping until bed time and Friday was a relaxing evening on the couch binge watching one of my favorite shows. Todays plan is to catch up on some housework. I hope to be back to regular blogging soon.

Problem solved

I was sitting here racking my brain trying to think of what to post about. Suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see my BFF staring at me. His eyes said "you've got to be kidding me". I said back "you are absolutely right. You are the perfect subject for a blog post any time"

Even though it's a repeat here is the man of the hour

So now the question of the day is which is correct? Is it racking my brain or wracking my brain? I did a google search and found that some sites said that either was correct where others said that racking was the correct answer.

Peeps

I've started working on Easter decorations. This is another reverse canvas. I used a free cut file from Lovesvg.com and an 8x10 stretched canvas from Dollar Tree.

New meds

My right arm has been hurting for a while. It probably started last fall and like most aches and pains any more, I assume it's just more arthritus. I kept ignoring it. It's gotten worse and now I'm finding it more difficult to do certain things so it was time to call the doctor. Her diagnosis is that it's an inflamation from bursitis. She prescribed a 6 day pill pack to see if that works and she also changed my prescription for my arthritus. That one I can't take until after I finish the pill pack.

\
She talked about side effects and said that it will make me cranky and that I should warn those I love that it's the meds. She also suggested that I take this opportunity to tell off people I don't like because I can blame it on the meds. Have I mentioned that I like her?

So when I first got there, 3 other women were in the waiting room. I pulled out my kindle to read but the one kept yacking away I couldn't concentrate on what I was reading. Then she sat there and took off her shoes, removed her socks and put them in her purse then put her shoes back on. One of the other women with her was coughing her lungs out. The yacky lady asked if she should get her a mask. In my brain I was saying "ya think?"  Thankfully they got called in just a few minutes later.

And that was my day off.

It's about time

I'm only going to complain today and then I won't whine about the time change again until next year when we do it again. I know that some like it when we spring ahead. Wade always preferred having it stay light later in the day. I on the other hand don't like it. I get up early which means I go to bed early and I hate going to bed when it's still light outside. Even so, I would prefer we keep the time as it is over changing it back and forth. I can't see any good reason for us to keep doing it.

Now that you have graciously listened to my complaint I will reward you with some Presley pictures. I don't have all these pictures but I took screen shots from the link that Presley's mom shared with me. These were from her Valentines Day photo shoot.

An offer I couldn't refuse

The plan for Saturday was to stay home and get some cleaning done. That was until I got a text from my son.

Well an offer like that doesn't come along very often so you know I jumped on that.

I couldn't help taking a quick little video of Presley. Her lunch was popcorn chicken and fries. You'll see in the video that her favorite part is the ketchup. Oh and the giggles you hear over the background noise are mine.

I'm pretty sure that after work today I'll be plopping on the couch and taking a nap. I'm already looking forward to that. I hate it when we lose an hour. Especially when I have to get up at 4:00 a.m.

It didn't happen Friday

I hope it will happen today. I had planned on coming home from work yesterday and getting the kitchen cleaned up and the laundry done. Instead I took a little nap and spent a very comfortable evening lounging on the couch. Considering that winter returned yesterday I think my actions (or lack there of) were justified.
Since there's nothing going on around here I think today is a good day for a Gibbs overload.

Shopping for ideas

When it comes to crafting, I've pretty much got an overload of ideas. Between ideas I find on Pinterest and the ones I find on the Dollar Tree/Cricut craft group on Facebook, I have more ideas than I know what to do with. It gets a little overwhelming when I have that many. So why then did I feel the need to take pictures in Walmart of things I saw and thought I could make that?
The last time I was in Walmart, I wandered down the Easter isle and saw a few things I thought were cute but knew I could make them myself instead of buying them.

I've come to the conclusion that collecting ideas and buying craft supplies is a totally different hobby than crafting.

The nerve of some dogs.

According to what I saw on Facebook, Gibbs describes me as his favorite simpleton.

He finds that much funier than I do.

Now that's cold

These are not my pictures. I borrowed them from Facebook. I had to share them though. These are from Feb 29th taken at Dobbins Landing which was always referred to as the public dock when I was growing up. This is in Erie, Pennsylvania and shows what can happen on the shores of Lake Erie when you have high winds and bitter cold temperatures.
