just a touch

I still haven't pulled out much of my fall decorations and like I said in a previous post, maybe what I have out is all I'll do. Since I needed something for a post today, I thought I would take a couple pictures in my living room. First is my fake fireplace. I added a garland and a few of the owl ornaments that I painted

Next is my fake sunflower arrangement. I absolutely love this bucket that I found in a grocery store somewhere a few years back. I filled it with some artificial sunflowers and this year I added that little fox that I found when Amanda and I went out shopping

sandra a.k.a.madsnapper

For those of you who follow Sandra. I got a text from her this morning. They are ok and she will update when she has internet back

just stuff

I had two choices for a post today. The first was to go the boring route and talk about my typical day. I get up, get dressed, go to work, come home make dinner, shower and go to bed.

The second choice was to go to Facebook and find some funny stuff. Technically I guess I am giving you both since I pretty much described a typical day and now I'm going to show the FB finds.

Today is pay day so I'll have a bit of variety in my day. I'll be stopping at the bank after work before I come home.

On a more serious note, I'm hoping that all my Florida friends are doing ok.

Pioneer Woman Wednesday

It's been a while since I've done a Pioneer Woman Wednesday so today I've got something I recently saw in Walmart.
I didn't take a picture of the sign that had the price so I have no idea how much these were.  I have never had a dutch oven, let alone a cast iron one that looked like a pumpkin.

Delightful

A gift from sweet blog pal Grace showed up on my doorstep Saturday. This wonderful book is simply delightful. It's filled with amazing artwork and a simple story. Each page has just a few words.

I looked through the book cover to cover and then looked at it again.

The line on the last page.

And the picture to go with it.

From the back of the jacket.

This was a nice surprise on a cold and gloomy day.

I thought about it.

Wow, talk about the weather taking a turn. It was only in the 40's yesterday morning. I actually heard the furnace kick on. I thought I had turned it all the way off but apparently I had it set to 65.

So It was a hibernating kind of Saturday for my last day of vacation. I thought about working on some craft projects but didn't feel like it.

I thought about making a pot of some kind of soup but that would require going to the store and I didn't want to go anywhere. Not to mention I had plenty of stuff in the house that I could have for dinner.

I thought about laying on the couch under a blanket. That's exactly what I did. I took a late morning nap and watched a whole lot of tv.

I thought about how I am not ready for the weather to start turning so cold. I don't mind heading into fall but I am not at all fond of being cold. We are almost into October though so I suppose it's inevitable.

One star rating.

Such a sad day. This is the last day of vacation for me. It's back to work tomorrow morning. As far as vacations go, this one only rates one star. I wouldn't give it any at all but it got the one just for the fact that I didn't have to go to work.

I didn't do one fun thing all week. The only time I even talked to another human was on Tuesday and Thursday when I went into the store to do my orders. Yes, I do go in to work on my vacation to do my orders. If I don't do them no one else will.

Yesterday was probably the most ambitious day I had all week. I did some cleaning and laundry. I started to get out some of the fall decorations but didn't get very far with it. I have a few things out and maybe I'll just leave it at that for this year.

Oops, I did it again

I missed yet another day of posting. That's what happens when you have absolutely nothing going on in your life. As I sit her now, trying to think of what to say, I'm drawing a blank.

It's not very interesting to write, "why yes, I spent the day laying around watching tv and playing on the computer." The only conversation I had was with the dog. I'm feeling better but have zilch for motivation. I'm incredibly bored but don't want to do anything.

I have to say that I pretty much feel like this slug except I don't look quite so cute. I don't have a banana to lounge on either.

MIA

I can't believe it's been almost a week since I last posted. I wish  I could tell you that I've been having the time of my life while I've been gone but no such luck.

Where to begin. Last Thursday (the last day that I posted) I came home from work with a sore throat. Friday I went to work and by the time I got home I now had a cough and chills. I hit the couch and slept. Saturday morning was the fair parade that goes by my house. Amanda and her husband came over to watch with me.

After they left I ran to the store to get some cold medicine. I came home took some and laid down. A second dose 4 hours later and I was knocked out in no time. That's when I discovered that I bought night time medicine.

Sunday morning I was feeling a bit better so thought I might get some things done around the house. It didn't take long for my energy to drain and again I was hanging out on the couch. I was supposed to have lunch on Monday with a couple old friends that I grew up with but chose to back out since I didn't know how I would feel.

Monday morning again I was feeling better so I started doing some more things around the house. Again I ran out of energy but at least this time I wasn't totally wiped out like I had been. So far this has been the worst vacation ever. On the bright side, I would rather be sick and laying around the house getting paid for it than being at work sick dragging through the day.

I've got nothing.

Unless I tell you how I was in a horrible mood on Tuesday. Not enough sleep, feeling cranky about all the work I had to do and in general just being snarly. I went as far as having a little hissy fit where I told them that I either needed to take next week off or I would probably end up walking out and quitting.

When I got home on Tuesday I hit the couch and was asleep within 10 minutes. I didn't go near the computer at all. Instead I slept off and on until bedtime.

Wednesday I was still tired, achy and only a slightly better mood. However, I do have next week off and I had 2 people helping me throughout the day. Then new boss even talked to me about covering the schedule on my double duty days so that I would have more help.

Sometimes it pays to be a whiner. Not to mention that I don't think they want to try and find someone to replace me. I mean really anyone could do my job but not as well as I do it.

The rest of the week is going to be hit or miss with me. I really have nothing to blog about and I'm not left with a whole lot of energy when I get home. I tried to read blogs Wednesday morning but Chrome didn't want to open for me so I'm way behind there. I think I got caught up on emails though.

Any way, if you don't hear from me, not to worry, I'm probably asleep on the couch.

It's only just begun

If you've been with me for a while then you've heard me talk about fair week. You'll also know that I don't like fair week. The thing is, it's way less work than it used to be in the past. I'm also way older than I was when I first started.

It's basically just a hassle. Hectic and annoying. Add on to that the fact that I have two days a week where I'm a multi purpose employee who is spread way too thin and you've got a week that I want to be done with.

When I first moved here, my ex husband and I took the kids to fair every single day because we're within walking distance and it was cheap entertainment. As the years went by, I started going less and less often. The last couple years I haven't gone at all. Of course, if I go now, I would have to go alone and that's never any fun.

These pictures were from 2017 and that might be the last time I was there.

I think I probably went by myself then. Wade was still alive then but he was not a fan of the fair. We would usually go once to get something for dinner and then we would leave.

On another note, yesterday was rather gloomy for most of the day. I didn't do much and ended up getting incredibly bored so I did a Walmart trip. After that I came home, ate lunch and then made stuffed peppers for dinner. I bought several peppers so not only did I have it for dinner with leftovers for today but I also put 3 containers of 2 peppers each in the freezer.

I didn't do any crafting because I just wasn't in the mood. I sure hope my motivation didn't run out.

Harvest Time

Saturday morning I was texting with Amanda and she said that she was going to her friend's house to hang out. Later on she sent me a picture of her friend's garden and asked if I wanted some tomatoes because her friend was giving them away. On her way home she stopped to drop them off to me. She also included some garlic and some tasty raspberries .

She even arranged them nicely on the counter so I could take a picture for this blog post. Does it get any better than that?

Pumpkin time

I used up another pack of unfinished Dollar Tree ornaments that I bought last year. This time it's pumpkins.
The first one was kind of an experiment to see how I wanted to do them. I painted them, added the lines and shading then finished them off with a vinyl saying. Unfortunately this first one is a bit blurry.

That first one was ok, but I think I did better on the next four.

I don't know if you can tell in the picture but there is just a hint of glitter on these. I went over them with an orange glitter paint. It gives them just a touch of sparkle.

Short but sweet

Just popping in real quick to say hello and I hope your weekend is off to a great start. Yesterday was another one of those going to work on very little sleep days. They always end with me coming home and doing a crash and burn.

Be back tomorrow.

Clutter catcher

With all the crafting I've been doing lately it means that I've been dragging more and more craft supplies down to the basement. The craft bag I bought a while back wasn't enough to keep it all neat and organized. I was in need of something else to keep things organized without having to constantly run up and down the stairs to get something from the craft room.

I searched Amazon and found the perfect solution. This is my new craft storage cart. Not all the drawers are filled yet but give me time. For now I at least have plenty of supplies close at hand. The cart is on wheels so I can easily roll it over right next to the desk.

No laboring on Labor Day

I didn't do any laboring on Labor Day. Instead I did some crafting.

This is made from a pizza pan.

First I sanded the pizza pan and then painted it with some chalk paint. Next I cut a piece of buffalo plaid vinyl to cover the bottom half of the pan. I used my Cricut to cut the words. I used black for the word welcome and orange glitter for the word fall.

Then I glues some rope around the inside edge of the pan. I dry brushed on some black paint to make it look a bit weathered. I finished it off with some fake leaves and a buffalo plaid bow..

I'm in love with the way this one came out.

Who's idea was it any way?

I had a hard time deciding on a title for today's post. I could have used any number of titles.

  • My daughter made me do it.
  • She's a bully
  • Elder abuse

Any way, I said yesterday that there was one more thing I purchased at Christmas Tree Shops. I was browsing and saw a display of various decorations. I read the sign and it said $19.99. Then I spotted the one. I fell in love.

I looked at the price tag and it read $49.99. YIKES! Then I read the sign again and it said "starting at" $19.99. Oh well, I didn't need it any way.
That's when it happened. Amanda told me to put it in the cart. I said no, I don't need it and I'm not paying that much for it. She said "You either put it in the cart or I'm coming back here another day and getting it for you." I reluctantly put it in the cart. When we got to the register Amanda was going to pay for it and I told her I couldn't let her do that, I would buy it myself. I never knew my daughter could be such a bully. She MADE me buy that.

I have to say that it looks absolutely gorgeous on my coffee table. The fall foliage rings come out so I can change this up for the different seasons. The glass jars are glued in. Now all I need are some candles to put in there.

Things I bought that I didn't need.

I didn't need a thing when Amanda and I went shopping. I did however see things that I wanted. Sometimes want wins out over need.

At Hobby Lobby I only bought one thing. It was the buffalo plaid that caught my eye.

I only bought one thing at Michaels as well. I just thought this little guy was cute. Not sure what I'll do with him. Perhaps stick him into one of my fall fake flower arrangements.

Christmas Tree shops is where I lost control.

First I saw this cute little scarecrow.

Next was this pretty fall placemat. I only got the one,

Then I spotted these and thought they would be perfect for the Ann cave.

There is one more item but I'm going to save that for tomorrow.

Monday, September 5, 2022

Oh my

You won't believe how silly I was being while we were out shopping. I have photographic proof of my silliness. And I can't believe I'm sharing it
In closing, I think you all know how I feel about you, but just in case you don't I want you to know

shopping with Amanda

I had a fun day off yesterday shopping with Amanda. Our first stop was Hobby Lobby and we checked out all of the Fall  and Christmas stuff that they had put out

Next we went to lunch at Cracker Barrel. Actually they were still serving breakfast so maybe it was more brunch. After that it was a stop at Michaels and Christmas Tree Shops. Then we went to a local place called The Warehouse and another small shop called The Curiosity shop. I think I will stretch out our day of fun over several days and this is all I'm showing for today

Owl be seeing you.

More old craft supplies were used up. I purchased some unfinished wood ornaments from Dollar Tree last year. Like so many other things, they sat and never got used. There were 5 in a package. I also bought a pack of pumpkins and leaves. Those I haven't painted yet though.

That picture looks a little dark to me so here's another one from a different angle.

I'm not much of a painter but I painted the owl body and wings. I drew the feather lines on with a marker and then did the eyes in vinyl.

A sign for fall

This one uses the same design that I put on the glass jar the other day.

I seem to have a problem with getting things straight. I swear the pumpkin was sitting straight when I lined it up. Now that I look at it though it's crooked.

Using what I've got

Welcome to September. Where has this year gone? Before you know it there will be snow flying.

My crafting spree is still going. Of course on work days I don't have much energy to do anything once I get home, but my days off have been filled with crafting.

I have purchased so many craft items with the intentions of making certain projects. For one reason or another those projects never get done. Lately the majority of the crafting I've been doing has been using all those collected craft items that have been sitting.

This was an unfinished wood item that I bought last fall. I started to do something with it then never finished it. I finally got around to it. The back side is a solid pumpkin and between the front and back is a box. I chose to put some fall silk flowers in it. Instead of painting this I used some mod podge and scrapbook paper.
