Nonsense and trash

One morning last week I was sitting in the break room waiting to punch in. My phone was in my hand and simply because I could, I started snapping pictures. There was nonsense like a dark stock room.

More nonsense when I lifted my legs out in front of me and I thought it looked like I was walking. (Use your imagination and play along with that one.)

Finally there was trash. Someone needs to tell me that just because a garbage can is sitting there and I CAN take a picture, doesn't mean that I should.

Some people will post anything and I am one of those people.

A lazy day off.

Yesterday was a holiday but also my day off. Normally when a holiday falls on my regular day off I get another day off during the week. No such luck this time. I work my normal 5 days this week so instead I just get an extra 8 hours in my check with the holiday pay.

I didn't do much of anything. I did go outside in the morning for a bit when a very short Memorial day parade went by my house. I took a very short video of the marching band. Unfortunately it uploaded as a short so I can't get the embed code to add. Here's the link if you want to see it.

LOL

I had a text message conversation with Amanda yesterday that was just too funny not to share. It went like this:

(Amanda is in black and my response is in red.)

Me: fluff stop it with the meowing

Fluff: meow (in complete teen Amanda attitude)

Me: knock it off

Fluff: meooow

Me: DONT sass back

Fluff (muffled and low under her breath) meow

This cat is trying to have the last "word

ROFL

try "if you don't stop meowing I'll give you something to meow about

I did lol

Oh Lord LOL

And as soon as she did the low under her breath meow I thought crap my mom warned me about this day but instead of kids it's with a friggen cat

ROFL I'm dying here

I bet.

Then she told me I could use this for a post if I was desperate for material. My response was that I already thought of it.

Here is the Fluff in question

a fun little project

I purchased this little frame at Dollar Tree a while ago. I didn't have any plans for it but I knew I would use it for something eventually.

I fired up my Cricut machine and got busy cutting out a gnome and the words happy and I gnome it. Rather than cut the words with individual letters. I typed out what I wanted, attached it to a white offset layer then flattened the whole thing so I could print it then cut around the offset. When the letters are small this works much better.

Finally I dug out some scrapbook paper and put the whole thing together.

The Gnome is put together using foam tape which gives it some dimension.

A birthday card

Both my kids have birthdays in June so I needed to get busy and start making cards. This one is for my son

I haven't figured out what to put on the inside yet. I also have my daughter's almost done but I can't show that one until after her birthday since she reads my blog.

I scream, you scream.

I made another card to send off to Presley. There is a new ice cream stand in town so I thought I would do an ice cream themed card with a little bit of money inside so she could go buy herself a treat.

Here's the inside. I made a little pocket on the left to hold the cash.

A card

A special card for Memorial Day.

This is a new style I saw on one of the Facebook groups I follow. I liked the look of it so thought I would give it a try.

I searched online for a sentiment to put on the inside. I found two different ones that I thought worked well together.

I'm planning on sending this one to my son.

Out and about in the yard

I love how green everything is again. We're still way behind some areas but we are getting there. Looking around my yard the other day I admired the lilac in my next door neighbors yard. I would love to have one but every time I try they never make it.

There was plenty growing in my own front yard.

The iris are coming along nicely.

I've got peonies full of buds.

 Hosta

 Lupines

 and finally my hydrangea.

I need to get in here and clean up the winter mess. My problem is that when I take Gibbs out front with me to work on it he barks at every single car that goes by. I guess I'm just going to have to pen him up in the basement and go out myself and get it done.

In other news, I sent a text to the plumber yesterday morning. He stopped over late morning and fixed the problem. It only cost me $125.00 so that wasn't too bad.

A lazy day

Yesterday started of rainy and gloomy. The perfect day for being lazy. Amanda stopped over in the morning to visit for a while. She brought me some lasagna that she had made the day before. It's always nice when I don't have to cook my own dinner.

After she left I spent a whole lot of time playing on the computer. I scrolled Facebook, I made a card that I'll post when I get around to taking a picture. I also played some games and read emails and blogs.

Mostly I spent the day thinking about how I didn't want to go to work today. Hopefully today will go fast and then I can get back to doing a whole lot of nothing.

I do need to call a plumber again though. I got a call from a woman I know that works for the borough office. She said I am on the continuous drip list. I'm hoping that this will not be an expensive fix.

Scraping bottom of the barrel

I'm pretty much out of things to post about. I guess I better get crafty so I have some more things to show. Today I think I'll just talk about my new obsession with K-Cups. I always said that I would never waste my money on them because they were too expensive and I'm cheap. Turns out that since I've discovered the Walmart brand ones I've become obsessed. They aren't nearly as expensive as some of the other brands and I've been picking up a box here and there. I still use the reusable filter but not as often as I should. The latest flavor coffee that I bought was this coconut one. It smells really good and doesn't taste bad either

Another graduation craft

This one is just a small cake topper. I made two of these and they will go to work with me and I'll give them away like the other graduation craft. Hopefully someone will want them.

In memory of Ace

Amanda's sweet boy Ace went to the rainbow bridge. I wanted to make her something in his memory. I made this Monday, wrapped it up and took it to her house while she was at work. I left it hanging on her front door for her to find when she got home.

She already has it hanging on her wall.

Layers

I didn't do much on Monday but I did manage to finish a craft project. Remember when I said I went to Erie and bought some cardstock from Michaels? This is what I bought it for. This was a free cut file from My 3D SVG. First I cut out the layers. Well, technically my Cricut cut the layers. There were nine layers in all . I cut these at 4 and 3/4 in. These are commonly cut larger to fit in a shadowbox frame.

A lot of people make these using foam dots between the layers to give them more of a three-dimensional look. But because I was planning on putting them in a frame and possibly on a card I didn't want them that thick so I glued the layers together.

When it was all done I put it into a Dollar Tree floating frame. I almost didn't fit the back on because the layered piece are a bit thick. One more layer and it wouldn't have fit.

I was happy with how this turned out. It cut beautifully and went together easy.

For The Graduate

I don't know anyone that's graduating but I found a couple projects that I liked and wanted to make. I decided that I'll take these to work and offer them for free with a cake purchase. I started out with a plastic goblet from the Dollar Tree. These came in a pack of six.

Then I made a graduation cap with black cardstock and added a tassle that I made from embroidery floss. Once done I filled them with Smarties candies.

Yesterday

Jean asked how old Presley is now. She was 5 in January. She'll be starting kindergarten in the fall. It's hard to believe it alreayd.

Rose asked how Brad is doing. He still has a lot of doctors appointments that he's going to but he's doing well.

A very nice day

Even though I had to get up way too early, and start work at 4:00 a.m., it turned into a very nice day. There were two unexpected surprises at work. The first one was when a customer came to pick up his donut order and gave me a $20 tip. The second was When Brad and Presley showed up to wish me a happy Mother's Day. And they came bearing gifts.
Presley decorated the frame herself.

Later in the day I went to Amanda's for dinner. She had gifts for me as well
She gave me the hook and the plant. I may need to shorten the chain a little.

happy Mother's Day

So today is Mother's day. All week I've been reading nicey nice posts on Facebook about how your mother is the best friend you'll ever have. Every time I read those I just want to gag. Not all of us had wonderful mothers. While I can't say that I myself was the best mother out there, I do hope that I was at least a little bit better than mine.

I hope that however you spend your day, you enjoy it to the fullest

Potted plants

You won't find any of those at my house because I do not have a green thumb. I tend to kill plants in record time. Because of that, I happen to have several empty pots. I also had some potting soil from previous attempts. So what did I do with them? I filled the pot with soil and I planted some solar lights. All three were very inexpensive ones. I bought two of the super cheap ones and one of the next price up.
The next morning when I was leaving for work I was surprised to see they were still lit. Because they're so cheap I didn't think they would last all night.

TGIF

I am so happy that today is Friday and that I'm off tomorrow. Yesterday was my huge donut order. I was a lean mean donut frying machine. I got to work at 4:00 and I was done with the donuts at 6:30. I fried a total of 45 dozen donuts. 36 dozen were for the order and 9 dozen were for the store.

On top of the donut order, I also had a cake order to do.

I have two donut orders to do for this morning but at least these are both small. One is for 21 donuts and the other is for three dozen. I am definitely looking forward to quitting time today.

Surprisingly when I got home from work yesterday I didn't take a nap. It was a beautiful 79 degrees so I sat outside for a bit. When I went in I remade the bee card that I showed you not too long ago. I put that in the mail over a week ago for Presley and it never got there. I'll try again and hopefully have better luck.

Meanwhile back at the ranch

Okay so this isn't a ranch and it's not even a ranch style home but it was a catchy title. Sunday evening while I was lounging on the couch Gibbs decided to take advantage of his end of the couch and his own blankets.

I can't believe he actually let me have my own blanket and used his.

Look at those cute little paws hanging off the edge of the couch.

Out and about in my yard

The weather has been a little warmer again so the other day I took a walk around my yard. I hadn't realized this was blooming on the side of my house. A mixture of flowers and weeds .

In the backyard and a few houses up I saw this tree covered in blossoms.

This is the tree in my next door neighbor's yard. It's always so pretty this time of year.

Answers to yesterdays comment questions.

MadSnapper said...

you are dangling Bread Heaven in front of me. the Bible says man can not live by bread alone, but this woman could easily live on bread. I am thinking you might get sick of donuts and bread when you smell all this all day every day. sometimes the smell of baking in Walmart has me drooling when I walk in the door. I can imagine the scent of all these donuts is overwhelming. how many can you fry at once? Believe it or not, I really can't smell any of it. As for how many I can fry at a time, there is 20 per rack and my fryer is small so I can only do 1 rack at a time.

Lori said...

I know there are annoyances with your job (all jobs) but I'm curious if all and all you really enjoy it? Yes, I do enjoy it. I like the creative side of doing the cakes plus I've always been allowed to just do my own thing and no one has ever stood over my shoulder telling me what to do.

Liz Hinds said...

Do you make everything from scratch? That cake looks lovely. No, I'm afraid I'm not that kind of baker. Everything is done from frozen dough that is shipped in. Even the cakes are shipped in already baked, I just decorate them.

Jeanette said...

Lots of baking! Do you get sick of the smell of bread or cakes baking? I don't smell it at all. People will walk in the store and say how good the bread smells but I don't notice it. About the only thing I ever smell is the cookies or brownies when they first come out of the oven. The only bread item I can smell is the onion rolls. Those things smell really good.

All in a day is work

This is a picture of my table at work all of those papers hanging up are orders.

Then of course aside from the daily orders there is also the breads and rolls that need to be baked every day.

Last week I had the donut order for 18 dozen donuts. This week I have an order for 36 dozen. This was the 18 dozen donuts ready to go out the door.

Last week I also had a couple cake orders to do. I forgot to take a picture of the first one but here's the second.

A baker's work is never done.
